Snow! Do you miss is? Or do you have it everyday and are so sick of it?

Snow! Where is the snow? I have lived in London all my life and when I was younger it seemed as though we were having snow every Christmas, without fail! Now, come Christmas it's either raining or cold and very sunny! I miss the snow and I sure wish that it would come back. There's just something so beautiful about the snow, it makes everything look so nice for a short while. Do you have snow yourself? Are you inundated with snow? Are you so sick of it that you want to experience concrete once more? Snow, it's fun for the kids and I have never actually built myself a snowman! I hope that when the snow eventually returns, if it does, then I can build myself a snow buddy!! Andrew

I love the snow, i think it did seem to snow more often when i was younger, i'm sure people would probably put it down to global warming or something!! I remember when it snowed last year, my friends all came over (none of us went to work because we lived in a small town and the roads weren't safe for us to get to the city to work!) we made riduculous hot cocktails and built snowmen (most of which weren't meant for the eyes of children so it's a good job i have a private back garden!!!)lol I love days like that! hopefully we'll get some snow this year, expecially at christmas, it makes it all so much more magical, especially for the kids!! xxx

It sounds like you had quite a snow party with your friends! That sounds like a great idea, your snowman building technique I mean Yes, I definitely miss the snow and maybe it's a thing of the past now with this global warming thing. I wouldn't rule out a Christmas in Alaska or the American wilderness though! Andrew x

I was born and raised in Iowa. Sometimes we would have snow up to our waist. It was cold from sept to may. Many days in mid winter was -0. I have seen moon dogs and sun dogs, temp -20. Wind chill factors so low they would advise farmers to herd their cattle to the barns. For those of you who dont know moon dogs and sun dogs occur when its extremely cold. Cant start cars. I hated every winter all my life. Problem is also humidity. High humidity makes cold colder and hot hotter. I not live in colorado. Usually if it snows it melts within a week. Its a dry climate. I LOVE it here. This is now my home and im not going anywhere.

That certainly is one huge amount of snow! Thankfully I have never had it as bad as that and so I miss the stuff a lot! I only wish that it would snow every Christmas but this isn't always the case. Andrew

I'm dreaming of a.... Rainy Christmas! Yep, I live in the UK too and I can't remember the last time we had a white Christmas, correct me if I am wrong, late 70s? Possibly early 80s? We hardly ever get snow, I live about 25km from London and maybe it's the global warming affect because you could always guarantee snow in the Winter and certainly Christmas time, but now, it's rare as rocking horse shite! But trouble is when it does snow we can't cope with it! Not like other countries! It's like OMG snow, and the authorities fail to act sooner, but then with the weatherforecasters always getting it wrong LOL! I think I should move to a colder climate, because I am not a heat person, so you coming out for a snowball fight then?

Ha ha! You can go on the piste on your own, I am not that adventurous! I'll watch from a safe distance, I am cowardly wolf and skiing doesn't enter my vocabularly! I'll help you build a snowman or have it ready whilst you ski, that sounds better!

Oh, those rainy christmases, we get far too many of those!! Yes, I think that's about right, snow in the 70s and early 80s, I certainly have good memories of snow in those days! This global warming thing is a real pest, it's destroying all the good things in life, like snow! This Global warming thing is so bad in the North that the ice caps are breaking off in huge chunks and I wouldn't be suprised if a pola bear was on a raft of ice drifting our way!! As regards the snowball fight, I'll meet you somewhere in Alaska, perhaps we can do a bit of skiing too! Andrew

I lived in the south (Texas) all of my life up until 3 1/2 years ago, I moved to the northeast. We were lucky if we got a light dusting of snow in Texas, although there was the rare occassion when we got snow that lasted for more than a few hours or a day.lol I was so excited the first time it snowed after I moved up here, I couldn't get enough of it. My s/o on the other hand has lived up here all his life and sees snow differently than I do lol. I still get excited at the first snowfall of the season.

I'm going to have to bare these places in mind! Perhaps I'll visit when it's all snowy! Have you ever ventured down the path of building yourself a snow chappy? I love those scenes of American wilderness, trees, wolves absolutely great! Or, have I seen too many movies? Andrew

I don't think you have watched too many movies. I work for the forestry service, and the woodlands are wonderful, and they are beautiful when they are covered with snow. I have built me a snowman, and made a snow angel. Normally I'm out playing in the snow with my dog, she loves it too.

I think, to have snow once a year come Christmas, this would be a good balance! For the rest of the year sunshine would be very nice! I love snow but I'm not that keen if you suddenly receive a frozen snowball thrown at you!! This is a nuisance!!! Well, let's see if we get lucky this Christmas. Andrew

I would love to see snow and experience it. My kids are yearning to see snow. But just experience it for a while and be gone. We havent experience snow yet. When my dad and her sisters went to Beijing last january.it was snowing. My dad said, he doenst want to live in a place like that. I was supposed to go with them but 2 weeks before their departure,I found out that I needed a gall bladder operation ASAP. The coldest we ever experience is in Baguio City at 15 degrees. That was it. The places we go like Bangkok,Singapore,Hongkong, and especially jakarta are hot hot hot.We went to Australia last February. It was hot in Sydney too. I guess...we will have to wait until we experience snow...

I grew up in Lake Tahoe where it snows - A LOT! Now I live in a town where we hardly get any snow at all - maybe a few inches. Sometimes I miss it, but I really don't miss all of the shoveling!

Lake Tahoe? I would sure love to live there then, for a short while anyway. I know that there are some parts in the States that get a lot of snow and it's really nice to look at. My problem is, I'm just focusing on the beauty and not the hard work of having to dig yourself out at times. Andrew

I have lived in sunny climates most of my life, and I was so excited when we settled in Ohio in 1999, and we saw snow all over. Now, I am in North Carolina and haven't seen snow yet. Absolutely love snow. But I'm not sure if I could stand it everyday for a whole season...

I guess there has to be a nice balance with all kinds of weather! Some snow, some rain, some wind and lots of sunshine! There's just so much fun to be had when there's snow! You can build snowmen, you can throw snowballs! You can even slide down a hill on one of those bits of plastic, I forget what they call those!! I hope that we get some snow this Christmas. Andrew

I live in Louisiana and one year for Christmas we got snow and it was really nice. That year I was pregnant with my first daughter and you could actually see the snow falling from the sky of course it didn't stay long enough to do anything with but it was a wonderful Christmas present. I would love to go somewhere one year where there is snow on the ground that you can make snow angels with and build a snowman and then go inside and sit in front of a fireplace and drink some cocoa.

That sounds like a very nice idea! It sounds like that was a real blessing in the year that you were pregnant with your baby. I sure love the snow and I'm really hoping that we get a dusting this year, more than a dusting even. Thanks. Andrew

I love the snow! Now that the weather has turned cooler, I'm looking forward to winter. I am like a giddy child whenever it snows. I'll throw snowballs, make snowmen and snow angels. I love taking walks in the snow. I don't mind shoveling. I hope we do have snow on Christmas Day. I don't grumble or gripe if it snows in March or April. I do hope you get a chance to build a snow buddy this year.

I have seen less snow in the later years. I don't really miss it as long as my daughter gets to make a snow man with her daddy once during the winter. However, with the talk about global warming and my government's head in the sand attitude towards the remote possibility of climate disaster looming, noticing less snow does carry with it a certain sense of foreboding.

Yes, I miss the snow and I'm also not that keen on this global warming phenomenon! I guess when you build a snowman together, this is definitely a family building event! Anyway, I still look forward to and enjoy Christmas even when there isn't any snow in the pipeline. Andrew

i live in the philippines and in here, the climate is stinkin hot. and i would be more than willing to travel just to touch snow. hehehe... my cousin is living in massachusetts and initially, she was excited to see snow. but then it accumulated and it started to make her life crap. she has to clear her driveway everyday because if she didn't even for just one day, a wall of snow will be created.

I think that I would find it very difficult to live in the Philippines as I'm not used to tremendous heat! I hardly see any snow at all and I would relish some snowfall, at least once during the remaining days I have left of my life! I would love to experience what your cousin experienced, for a short time anyhow. It probably would become a bit much as you say. Andrew

I lived in NJ for 5yrs. i used to love the snowy days, even though i had some falls, and hated digging my car out, but i still enjoyed it, beautiful when it's falling. i live in florida now, not even cold anymore, answer to your question, yes, i do miss the snow.

Florida sounds nice. I'm sure they must have one of those fake snow centres though where you are, where they do the indoor skiing and so forth! Do you travel then to somewhere where there's snow at Christmas? I guess that's the thing to do if you really want to experience snow and ice, perhaps a polar bear or two!! Andrew

Hi Andrew, I am hoping that we won't get any snow until at least Christmas. Last year it started in early November and we didn't see the end of it until late April. When I was younger I liked the snow, but not anymore as we get just too much. A little snow is okay if you have it for just a short while, but seven months is just too long, especially when there are a lot of storms. Just a few years ago we were having mild winters with just a little snow. I hope you get your wish for some snow, but I'm sure you would never want what we had last winter. Blessings

Hi again Andrew, There were times when we couldn't drive of course, but most of the time we did. I am retired so it wasn't as important for me, we could always wait until the roads were cleared. I don't mind some snow, and of course most young people look forward to it, but blizzards are bad and 7 months is too long to be looking at snow every day. Blessings.

That definitely sounds as though you were inundated with snow! You're always having to wrap up and protect yourself throughout those cold months. I personally would love to experience some of that! Living in London though doesn't help. Did you drive in those conditions? Or, did you decide to leave the vehicle at home and catch a bus? Andrew

I use to live in Colorado, grew up there to precise. It snowed every year. I loved it. playing in it, no school cause of it lol, I have definately built my share of snowmen, and forts. Now I live in Mississippi, and have for a few years now. It never snows here. I miss the snow a lot. My kids ask about it and maybe one day they will get to experience it.

I have heard a few others mentioning these forts, what are they? Is this like building yourself a castle out of snow? It sounds interesting all the same. I think that I will stick with building something easy! Two balls, one for the head and another for the body!! I'm sure that your kids will absolutely have the time of their lives once they witness the beauty of snow. I personally miss the wrapping up in winter gear! We don't have to do that anymore now that it's becoming warmer due to global warming. Andrew

We had what some people might call a light dusting. The only way we knew it had snowed was that there was a little bit of it still on top of the car. I love it when it snows. I hope it snows soon. I don't know why, but it gives me a really good feeling to see a gorgeous snow. My husband on the other hand doesn't like the winter. He says, it's to cold and dreary for him.
