Is marriage necessary for a successful life?

I am a bachelor and my friends are forcing me to get married soon. They say that nobody can lead a successful life without marriage. What do you think?

I have been seperated from my husband for 2 years now and it certainly wasn't a successful marriage. I have done more in the last two years with my life than I did in the 10 years I was married. At the end of the day it is your decission and your decission alone to make!

I don't think it is a pre-requisite to a successful life. You can be successful without it. Marriage is by choice and no one should dictate it to you (but, of course not in some cultures). Look at how many single people become even more successful than the married ones.
