You give an order to your subordinate and he does not obey and just does what he wants. What will you do to ensure that he follows your orders and maintains proper discipline in the office.

First, I would meet with the person and let them know that this is a warning. They must comply with their position. Their job is not only what is written in the job description, but also to do as asked by supervisors or managers. If the warning does not work, I would then continue on with written warnings. Some people need to feel threatened to get anything done. There are alot of lazy people out there that can't stand to take orders from anyone, but they need to learn how to, or they shouldn't have a job. There are many people out there right now without a job that would do anything asked of them at work to have a paying job.

I believe it also has to do with how you treat your employees on a daily basis. If you are good to them regularly and you asked them to do one thing that they didn't comply with, then I don't see why they would be upset.
