A Canon Powershot A630 is what is known as a digital point and shoot camera. A DSLR stands for Digital Single Lens Reflex. These cameras use a system of mirrors to reflect and direct light from the lens to the viewfinder of the camera.
There are many benefits to owning a DSLR camera. The main benefit is the detachable lens. With a DSLR you can change the lens on your camera. This allows for a lot of versatility. You can get a macro lens for up close photography, a telephoto lens for shooting subjects that are far away, a wide angle lens for a wide view, etc. With a point and shoot camera, the you are limited to the lens (and focal range) that comes on the camera.
DSLRs also have a larger, more powerful image sensor than point and shoots. This means that you will have higher quality images with a DSLR with more detail, color depth, and dynamic range... as well as less noise and grain! Basically, your images will look better.
A DSLR also allows you to have full manual controls which means you can make your photos look exactly the way you want to.
DSLRs are made out of a higher quality, sturdier material than digital point and shoots. They're tougher, stronger and tend to last a lot longer.
DSLR cameras also have no shutter lag. As soon as you push the shutter button, it takes the photo. DSLR cameras also start up faster than digital point and shoot cameras. Because they are faster and respond quicker, you can take more pictures in a shorter amount of time with a DSLR than you can with a digital point and shoot.
Digital point and shoot cameras are cheaper than DSLRs. They're also smaller and more portable.
If you are serious about digital photography, you will definitely want to get a DSLR at some point in the future.

Well you got th\e lowdown on DSLRs vs P&S from trickiwoo: but without knowing what disappointed you about your pictures, suggesting a better/different camera, or a different kind of camera is very hard.
I know the A630, and it is a good camera for what it is; it tends to produce natural, soft pictures with muted colours; if it is the lack of snap and depth in the colours you are missing, just hgo into the setup menu and alter it to "Vivid" colour. Problem sorted at no cost. But I'm just guessing: what exactly is the issue?
Some really terrific cameras concentrate on some features and are not so strong on others; what if we suggested a great camera, but it was weak on what you wanted.
So, a bit more detail, please, and maybe we can make a concrete recommendation.
