Oh Horrors, You like getting Paid by MyLot?

a discussion berating some people for short answers and saying they should be kicked off here as they are only here for the money trigged my discussion. My question is how on earth can you even begin to devine that a person is here only for the money by the way they made a short answer? And my second question is why should MyLot kick anyone off just because they made a short answer to one particular poster? Perhaps the poster made a discussion that did not allow for any real discussion such as what brand of coffee do you like? now theres not a whole lot of scope there for a long answer.you probably would answer with the name of the brand of coffee you use and that takes what, five or six words? Your opinions please.

I always try to expound on an answer, even if it is just the kind of coffee I like. To get paid we have to write more than that, and likewise the discussion poster doesn't get paid as much if the responses are that short. However, sometimes there just isn't much to be said. And a lot of times we just want to be polite and answer the posters to be nice. Nothing wrong with that.

I'm with AmbiePam on this one. I try to expand my answer, even if the original question didn't call for it. I might include an anecdote or something off subject, but still relevant. But I do not think a person should get kicked off for posting shorter answers. Otherwise, they'd be kicking most of us off! Happiness to you both. Have a nice day.

Hi Hatley, Some discussions only do require very short answers and also I find that sometimes when people are fairly new they are quite shy in saying too much so maybe a few words until they get a feel for the place. Didn't we all join for the money to begin with anyway and stay because of the friendships. We should not jusge others. The only time that a short answer is wrong is if it is a money making link and a violation. Each to their own. Huggles. Ellie :D

I used to watch and calculate every day my responses and how much my earning were and I came to the conclusion that you earned more for a longer response than a short one. However as I do not really care anymore how much I earn. I just respond to the question so if only two words are needed then that all I type but if a I really want to say something it can be a much longer response. People are really weird why does anyone care how much another person earns it is not as if it was making their payment any less

hi whiteheather as usual you do make a lot of great common sense. I agree people are weird as what her responders made is not going to affect this ladys payment. and to kick off people because they made 'a short answer, give me a break. perhaps her discussion was one of those like which do you like best, Burger King or MacDonalds? it would not engender a whole lot of lines at most. Its just so easy for us mylotters to pick faults with others as we are seated behind our computers and not facing them in the real world. I doubt if people would be so nit picky if they had to face the other person.

I have to agree with you that for discussions that are the "fluff" type, such as Coke or Pepsi, favorite ice cream flavor, etc, one can't really respond in depth and therefore only a few words. But I have seen members here, usually newbies that do the same thing for long, and in depth discussions, and/or worse, give a reply that has nothing to do with the discussion. For an example, there used to be one person who in ALL his responses, as I tracked them down, gave a response like "cool" or "good"...needless to say all his responses were deleted and may have even been banned. This person had amassed about a hundred points in one day, with answers like that....so this is a case of trying to be here just for the money, don't you think?

hi pye yes I do think that in that case this person was not caring much about us mylotters at all.I hate it when a user posts a response to my discussion that shows he never even read the discussion.often I tell them that had they read my discussion they would not have said what they did. lol

While there are times when I am very wordy, and I have no doubts that people wish I'd get to the point and shut up, there also are times when a short answer is the best answer Sometimes too I have noticed that those with short answers are those that have trouble with English or they just cannot think of being long-winded people so they answer with a brief explanation of their thoughts. Either way, it's all good to me

We all like to get paid by MyLot, and if someone does not like the short answer people, then they should ignore said people and just associate with the long winded ones. Some discussions do not lend themselves to verbosity, and some members are too inexperienced in their English to go very far with a comment. Their earnings will reflect what they put out there, and there is no reason for us to nit pick on people who are learning. They sure will not earn much until they put more words in, but that is a natural consequence and a good learning experience.

For me, people respond differently to the things that happen to them, to the things they hear, see or read. And for me, we should not judge those who type in short comments. There are people who love to elaborate everything, so they would usually have longer comments than others, even if the post or topic asks so little. Others are a person of few words, even if a topic is interesting, as mucu as they want to talk or type in their opinions. Once they have delivered what they want to say, they stop there. We can't blame others for the way they respond, that is how they were built, that is how they want to be. Short or not, for the money or the company of new friends, just as long as people respond to others, says a lot of how effective mylot is. This is just my opinion.

Hi Hatley, You have a very valid point here, great post! Personally, I started joining this site for earnings..LOL! and love the stay because of the learning and great friends I met! I tried to make 4-5 sentences in every responses I will make since I want to earn more cents than having short responses but in post which only needs 1 sentence, it is very hard also to expand my answer, so, I guess this is a free site where everyone can decide about how long and short they want to type!

I write many short sentences.. MyLot lets it go through.. So, if it is fine, I will not worry. That would be very unfair if they deleted accounts for short sentences... What a waste! I am not concerned about this, because many myLotter's truly are working hard here, regardless of the short sentences..

Hi Hatley, I really do agree that the length of your response depends upon the idea that you can put in to the topic posted. There are some topics that you can not make lengthy response. Well, there are people here who have stimulating topics that could get long reactions from their respondents. And that, I agree with you that the length of the response depends upon the topic to discuss.

That's a good question?!! Maybe they can make it that it does not count if your answer is under so many words. I can see if someone keeps coming in, all the time, and only gives short answers that are all the same, then it's obvious that they are just farming to raise their numbers. Oh, I don't drink coffee!! LOL (I just had to say that).

Well, MyLot keep going on about their sophisticated algorithms. And they do say that short posts won't make your credit increase [much?]. I have no idea what is in these algorithms; does anyone? But fear if it were so simple as 'one-liners not counting' you'd get these responses: ----------- Yes :-) IG peace love harmony ---------- Etc So, err, thanks for listening. And peace, love and harmony to all. IsisGreen ;-)

I do agree, It's in the content and sense. We can just go on and on write as many words as we can and still have no idea what in the world are we responding to. If you can say it in one word; why say it in so many words and still end up with the same meaning. YES and NO actually is a complete sentence if you know how to listen.

I am new to mylot and I have to say some of my answers have been quite short. But I am learning on how to discuss more about things, I think. I mean I'm not that great at it but for me it will take time so I would hate if they'd delete me before even giving me a chance. Besides like you said, some questions just dont need much of an answer.

datarallek thats what makes mylot so great. they are not judging us on our answers really, just so we abide by their rules. and some discussions just dont give you scope for a very long answer.

Yeah I agree on you on that. Having a short answer is not that heavy violation of the rules. I think the only measure or penalty to give that person is not paying them for answering like that. But for Mylot to kick that member out is I think too much already. We are here to enjoy and earn as well but in earning we should follow what Mylot has instructed us to do and one liner answers are one of those. For those that break that single rule then you don't deserved to be paid for that. But being kicked out is something I think too much.

hi rsa as long as the person with the short answer doesnt 'break mylot rules I dont think he or she deserves to be kicked'off just to suit one nitpicky lady. she claimned the people giving short answers are here only for the money howdoes she know that? I know oneliners are against mylot rules and mine are never that short ever, I tend to be pretty wordy.

Hi Hatley! I've nothing against those who give one liners or simple answers especially if the discussion doesn't necessarily need anymore in depth reply like the ones you mentioned. But there are really some who made answering "yes or no" and those kind of things already a habit here. I don't know what they're thinking but most probably, they're thinking about just getting their number of posts up, second the money not knowing that they wouldn't be credited for anything with one line answers or maybe even 4 word answers.

hi marababe I hate those yes and no answers too, and so does' mylot. shorter answers are okay for some discussions but not one word answers or one liners.they will not make any money anyway so why break rules.

Some responses require short answers. In addition, some people who write long responses are not always clear in exactly what they trying to say. It really depends on the topic and the degree that you want to discuss an issue.

I am not on MyLot to get paid. If I can respond to a discussion, no matter if it's short and to the point, or a long explanation, I do so. Usually, I answer only to my "friends", but every once in a while if the discussion is up my line, I will try to answer. I would have to say only kick off anyone using vulgar or threatening language. As a matter of fact, I'm thinking of initiating a topic - soon as I can come up with something that hasn't already been done.

well janet I am a widow, aged with only a small social security check and I will not turn down money, sorryabout that, I am also here to have fun, and to enjoy my many mylot friends and to me the money is icing on my chocolate cake. nobody should be kicked off for just having a few short answers. contrary to the nitpickers beliefs a lot of people who give shorter answers are not just here for the money, a nd so what if they are, are anyof us going to turn down money?

I do understand what you are saying. To tell you the truth I usually aim toward the postings that require a more descriptive and quality answer. I usually avoid the ones that only can render a short response like as you said the brand of coffee you like or in some instances I see "what is your favorite color"? I can't seem to find an easy way to elaborate on certain posted discussions. I don't really think that someone giving a short answer should necessarily be kicked off of here. We know we are here to make friends and correspond and of course for the extra income.

I completly agree. I have been answering a lot of my questions with very short answers, because of the lack of detail the discussion is. I honestly am not here for the money. it is a part of it, but with the answers I have been giving I recieve 1 penny for each response lol. I believe that we should be judged on the the content of the answer, not on how long it is.

babylovexo right on we should only be judged on the content of the answer and nobody should be kicked off for the size of the answer either.
