Your participation in a discussion...

As the number beside my ID shows, I am pretty new here. Nonetheless I find the site very interesting...as obviously why I joined in. When you participate in a discussion, are you there to just earn or do you go through your interests and find a discussion you feel you can contribute something to? In other words, do you value your participation in a discussion as you value anyone who participates in your discussion? When you comment in a particular discussion, do you feel your value if the author comments back or not? Would you get discouraged to participate again if the author comments on everyone else's comments except yours? Or is all this participation just a mere count to your earnings?

I make it a point to respond only to discussions that interests me and of course my friends discussions cause I don't like the idea of participating for money only....Money is an important factor but not the most important one..Well I will feel a little disheartened if the author responds everyone and not me but something like this has not happened to me yet and hope doesn't happen in near future...But sometimes it is not possible for the author to comment on every similar responses...We should be understanding then..
Lastly Happy Mylotting!

hi arthi_88...
Yes it does sound pretty silly and petty to even bother noticing such possible oversights...I realize that I should be understanding.
Thank you for your insight...
Happy mylotting....

I participate in a discussion to earn and because I know I can contribute to it. Yes I value my participation and those who involve themselves in my discussions. I give importance to anyone who participate in my discussions. I really appreciate it if the author makes a comment in my response and if he doesn't, it's okay, especially when there are so many respondents to the discussion. I understand that the author may not be able to comment on all the responses because of the number of it.

Hi aprilten...
I'm pretty sure your understanding brings you goodwill. I've not had the fortune of receiving a whole lot of responses on my discussions so I still can manage to revert back on each that have participated. I hope when that time comes, I will still manage as I would feel I've short changed on anyone that I can't revert back to. Ooopss, but that's me and I can certainly understand anyone who may not do the same.
Thank you and happy mylotting...

I have two ways to look for discussions. One is I look at the list of discussions on the right side of my Home page. Where they show the recent top discussions, discussions from my interests and discussions from ,my friends. I choose my titles form there only If the title seems good enough or I think I could add something to it. The second way is to choose from my interests on the top. If you have noticed, the list keeps changing every minute or so. SO I just choose which discussions I wanna respond to and then get going. This is much easier because once I choose an interest, I can randomly respond to three or more discussions from the same page.
I surely take interest in responding to a discussion and take care of what I write. I always get back on comments because some people might not expect you to, but as a general courtesy, it's always good to get back to a person, and it's called a discussion for a particular reason. Just living with the title.

HI bourne...
Your system of participation in mylot would be a good way to adopt. As I have time for mylot only when my kids are off to school I visit and start with first trying to participate on my friends discussions where I feel I can contribute. If I have time left to start a discussion I revert on almost all comments given to it. The timing may be a day after or sometimes more, but I do show my appreciation to each one...regardless of him/her being a mylot friend or not.
Thank you for your participation...see you around...happy mylotting...

Most of the time I just join a discussion in order to earn money. Sometimes though when I am able to give a really good input I feel good about myself. Having a best response awarded to me validates that. When I post comments on those who replied to a discussion I started, I don't get paid. Yet I do it so that people will feel valued. Some responses I don't comment to because I have nothing good to say so they shouldn't take it as an insult because I read their response but I just don't have anything to say to it.

Hi mimico...
Reading through the comments on this discussion has given me a perspective of how one should deal with not getting a comment on a participation given...they may have nothing good to say. Though your revelation that "comments on those who replied to a discussion I started, I don't get paid" is a puzzle to me as I seem to note that my $$$ increases when I do this?!?! At any rate...(excuse the pun)...I appreciate your honesty and sharing your opinions on this.

Of course it is good when you participate in a discussion and others comment about it. It becomes a discussion really because you are validated and you are not talking to a wall, someone answered back. Someone took the time to respond to you.
But when there is no response I just shrug it off. No offense taken. There are a lot of discussions here and sometimes you are just drawn into the ones that interests you more. I try and respond to friends' discussions but I almost always fail. Sometimes i find it hard to reply because of many reasons.

hi ayenacsi...
yes, it is sometimes rather hard to respond to all that have participated in your discussion, especially where timing is needed. but no matter, one's response is always valued...as far as i'm concerned at least. i appreciate each person's time in commenting to a discussion i started so i try my best to comment back or at least thank them.

I actually joins a discussion that i know i can share my views and give ideas if ever the topic asked for it. I dont just pink any discussion and answer for the sake of earnings. Though i also am concern of the payout i also take into consideration my answers. If it has substance and if it makes sense.

hi belk89...
I'm sure your contributions to any discussion is appreciated, as it is here. As it does manifest in your earnings the derived quality of your comments, I'm sure if one speaks sincerely of his/her point of view the ratings it is given will just be a bonus over the self-satisfaction you get with sharing.

As you can see I have participated in more than three thousand discussions at myLot.
I am selective about which discussions I take part in. I'm not interested in just adding to my numbers.
I love to get nice comments to my responses and to interact with people who start discussions, then I do feel I have added something to the value of the discussions, which is what myLot rewards us for, not simply for the number of posts.
Receiving a best response is always appreciated. I will go usually return to the discussion and add my thanks.
I don't get discouraged if someone doesn't comment on my response, or did not agree with what I posted, sometimes I just want to express my own opinion and to give my reasons. This is what counts as quality at myLot.

hi paid2write...
what an appropriate ID? I agree with your insight and believe that the quality at mylot is the expression of one's opinion on his/her chosen discussion. With the vast time zones the site caters to, interactions would be good but its absence should not be discouraging.
Happy mylotting...

Hi friend! I value my participation just as I value those who participates in my discussion. This is the reason why I make it a point to give back comments to my respondents. And when I response to a discussion, I love it when the author comments back. In fact, I always look forward with excitement on comments of the author. It's just a pity that there are those who don't comment back anymore. Maybe they just rated me or maybe they were too busy...I'm just giving them the benefit of the doubt. However, it is something different, if comments are given back to others while mine was left unanswered. That feels so discriminating and that will drive me to mark that User. However, I've not encountered an experience like that so far.

hi friend...
"benefit of the doubt"...that could be a fine reason to dismiss the inadvertent non-response from an author on your comment. it sounds much better than discriminating...and i guess there are different strokes for different folks. just because we do it this way can't mean they could do the same.
so thanks for your insight...happy mylotting....

yes mylot is really a good site, where we can have healthy discussions it may be either to know something or comment something. this site is really good as it pays you good and i think we all are here to earn for what we do that is commenting and having our discussions. and earning money with fun and enjoyment is really a good idea and hence i like mylot and to be here.
now a days i really dont think wheather anyone is commenting to my response or to my started discussion coz just thinking all this will make you lose your interest and it is not necessary for anyone that he/she should answer to my post. so i dont expect it anymore from anyone i just do my work and finish it up. first i use to think about this someone is commenting on my post or not but it really dont help you as other fellow mylotters had shared with me and i think they are right and hence i dont think about it and i just do my work.

Hi icegermany...
An interesting opinion..."just do my work"...hmmm. I can possibly have a go with that except that being a mom will probably inch its way back. I don't know if you understand that but I've had a similar attitude when I was doing office work so perhaps a change of stance is a good order.
Thank you for your insight and happy mylotting...

I usually only participate in a discussion that interests me or one that I figure I have something useful to contribute (if someone asks for advice) I am very picky and
don't just comment to earn cash. I do feel what I have offered has value or I wouldn't bother wasting my time. so it is nice if you receive a comment back on it- so as to know that someone at least read even if they did not find it useful to them.

hi minx267...
yes i too find receiving a comment back as a note of value...not that not commenting is bad...as it isn't always that one can revert on the opinions expressed by others.
Thank you for your insights and I hope to see you around...

my participation in any discussion of my interest is of course not only for earnings
i also see that if i can contribute what i know to the discussion
if the author comments back, i make it a point to reply back or thank them
and if they don't comment
definitely that will not discourage me from participating in their future discussions
all the best
happy mylotting

Hi ashvini_urs...
Your positive outlook at participation with mylot can definitely serve for less disappointments. Mylot is a venue to share opinions and not every opinion can revert back a comment...but of course a line of appreciation is in good will. A thing of note I might share is when one does give a thank you comment back, I believe it would make a mylotter earn if it is phrased to have more than just a simple "thank you for your comment". Perhaps you might try and find out.
I appreciate your comments and hope to see you around...happy mylotting...

I signed up here just last sep 30 and the first time I hear about this, I think whether It will be worthwhile. I thinks its two or three day before I made up my mind. As I joined, I soon grew interest here coz everybody responds and its fast. I really want to find out what others think about my opinion. Though this is so, the first motivation why I join here was the pay out. I still dont know whether I will really recieve something here but for the meantime, I'll endulge sharing my mind here. As for the participation, It is my dream to have some exchange of opinion. This is important to me coz I believe that someday somehow it will be helpful participating in one way or the other. As for the authors comments, I really want others to share too what on their mind. Its the process of learning.

Hi 20021114476....
U have an interesting ID...My observation of how mylot participation exchanges happen is through the window of having mylot friends. This way you can have a following of comments and exchanges happen while you are online...meaning your real time. I trust you have gained a number of friends since you've joined up so they can keep tab of your discussions and vice versa. Thereafter you're real time exchange of opinions can turn out to be a virtual conversation and learning.
Thank you for your sharing and happy mylotting...
