Ever tried having those cockroaches under your sink and in the corner of your kitchen. They make me sick if i see them around. I use miracle chalk to get rid of cockroaches but they come back after a few months. I hate insecticide because of the smell and bad effects on health and the environment so i prefer using the miracle chalk but it is messy sometimes because you cannot erase them if you want those cockroaches gone. How do you do it in your homes? How do you get rid of these pests lurking around?

I had my first experience with a cockroach just yesterday...it was huge...at least two inches and man was it fast! Well...it's not fast anymore, but the whole experience was terrifying...it involved a lot of screaming and running around the house and throwing things until I finally trapped it underneath a plunger and waited for my wonderful man to come home and kill it. Anyway, the next day we went out and bought these little cockroach traps, roach motels, it came with eight of them and a chart of strategic places to put them. We'll see how it works.

There somany methods you can use.
You can call for PEST CONTROL, and they can use some pecticides for removing cockroaches. It doesn't cost you more. Or buy some eco-friendly pecticides and use it in with the safe procedure that was specified in their manual. Finally there are some sprays (like HIT, DOMEX... if you are in india), those can clear cockroaches on daily usage. I will get irritated when I saw them. I had already called the PEST CONTROL to clean my house.

In general, cockroaches are an incredibly hardy group of insects, which is why it’s so hard to kill them. They’ve evolved over millions of years to become resistant to as many threats as possible, and because they reproduce extremely quickly, different species can sometimes develop resistance to specific pesticides. Most types of cockroaches can survive a month without water and two to three months without food, which make difficult to get rid of the bugs simply by depriving them of nourishment. And if you’ve ever heard that cockroaches can survive for long stretches of time without their heads, you heard right. Because cockroaches don’t breathe through their mouths but rather through openings (called “spiracles”) all over their bodies, the head is not crucial for the roach to survive for a few days; it’s only necessary to allow the roach to drink water or eat food.
Here are some tips on eliminating those crafty cockroaches from your apartment, and preventing the bugs from coming back.
Your do-it-yourself treatment options include the following, in rough order of increasing toxicity. Homes involving pets or small children will probably want to keep to the first few, less toxic, options.
Live traps
Live traps work by attracting the cockroach to the trap with some form of bait. You can purchase live traps or make your own using a bowl with steep sides. Put petroleum jelly on the inner walls of the container so the cockroach can’t climb back out, and then put food and damp paper toweling at the bottom of the container. Make a paper ramp leading into the container so the cockroach climbs in due to the food but is unable to escape due to the petroleum jelly barrier. After trapping roaches, you can flush them down your toilet for sanitary disposal. If your homemade trap isn’t working, consider purchasing one. Traps have the added advantage of letting you discover where the roaches are congregating in your home—the traps with more bodies are in the more populated areas, which may need additional treatment.
Boric acid
Boric acid, used as an insecticide in powder form, works by abrading the cockroach’s cuticle, or shell, with its harsh particles. When its shell is damaged, the insect will dry out and ultimately die of dehydration. This is an effective method, but may be less useful in highly humid environments where it will take the cockroach longer to lose its moisture. Some people recommend making a paste by mixing boric acid powder, flour or sugar, and water; the starches make the mix more food-like and thus more attractive to the roach.
Bait stations
Many companies offer bait stations, which are similar to live traps but work by incorporating a deadly mold in the bait. This mold is harmful only to cockroaches and related insects and should not be damaging to humans or pets. Other traps may incorporate pheromones to attract the cockroach into the trap to ingest the mold or another type of poison. Stations usually provide an enclosed environment that is attractive to the cockroach, which prefers dark, tight spaces.
Sprays
can be classified by the type of insecticide they use. Common chemicals used to kill cockroaches include permethrin, imiprothrin, and cypermethrin. Some sprays are liquid, and others are powder; the powders tend to be both more toxic and more lasting, as well as capable of covering a larger area.
Gels
Gels or “sticky traps” are strips of gel or other sticky substances, designed to catch cockroaches on their way in or out of your home. The roaches will be unable to escape from the stickiness. In addition to helping get rid of roaches, these sticky strips can also help you identify where roaches live and move in your home, so you can treat highly populated areas more aggressively.

yeah, cockroaches are really annoying and dirty, It really make me sick as well, particularly if they are in kitchen drawers, closets, cabinets or flying around. We also use that kind of chalk as well because we also hate the smell of insecticides. But just like you said it was quite messy with chalk line all over the place. So far, we rarely see cockroaches in our house, thank goodness for that. But as soon as we see one, if for instance the chalk didn't kill it, we use the older method by smacking it with slippers.

I got rid of them by using both insecticides and the miracle chalk.I also kept on checking possible nesting places like little holes in walls and so on.I cut off their food supply by making sure that I picked up any edible stuff my children and I had dropped before going to bed.Covering left over food properly at night etcetra.I also made sure that there was no way that these pests were coming from the neighbour's houses. They say that cockroaches are almost indestructable in that in the event of a nuclear explosion, the cockroach will survive. They also say that cockroaches are about the oldest living creatures on Earth, they were here to greet the dinosaur when he arrived, and to bid him farewell when he left.A cockroach can and will eat almost anything,so adding starvation to your arsenal of weapons in this war is a big help, and remember a cockroach will not give you even one cent to
pay his rent.So get rid of this free loading tenant.

Yeah, they're really a problem. But, I don't have any where I live. I have only lived in one place where we had them and there was no way to get rid of them except move. We didn't bring them to any of my new places, either. It's like once you got them, you can't get rid of them. One thing that can help is to never leave any foodstuffs around whatsoever and always clean your floors and counters.

I hate cockroaches. i have Florida is full of them. At least in the area I live at. I see big and little ones. I use the spray to fight them and some white powder I place behind big appliances. I have to watch what I use because of pets. I have noticed that when it rains I will see an increase of both kinds trying to come inside. Also if I see a tent over a house in the area. I know they are bombing because they are infested and I watch for them as well. As one time my neighbor and I seen a house two doors with a tent over it. That night as we sat on the porch. We watched roaches come through the grass trying to get in our apartments. We had our raid out and spray any that came near.

I hate those things to the big ones and the regular roaches, I keep boric acid sprinkled in my house, I put it under the sinks, in the cabinets behind the washer anywhere I think a roach will be. I don't have any little kids or pets so it is fine for me to use this. And I keep a shoe handy in case I do see one like one responder said they are fast and I will tear a house apart trying to find and kill one if I see it.

I agree. I hate roaches. One time a friend of mine came to stay at my house and she had roaches at her house so they came in her stuff. It took me forver to get rid of them. Istill find one or two every couple of months. It is like it is almost impossible to get rid of once you get them.

Yeah Masmasika, cockroaches are pests which are really disgusting. They like to live in places which are darker and cover up. They eat all sort of things and the dung leave in the drawers, closet, cupboard and elsewhere making everything to look messy and nasty. It is quite difficult to get rid of them completely.
I have tried to use the miracle chalk before but it was effective for a short period only. I know that these pests dislike light the most. Nowadays I could only try my best to open the drawers and others to let them to expose to light regularly to keep away the cockroach.
posting and have a nice day.

I live in Florida and our cockroaches fly! Fortunately, I rarely see one and, when I do, I just smash it. They don't bother me as much as the giant spiders that come around once in awhile. Those get sprayed because I'm not getting near them!

I do not have these pests right now, But I did when I lived in Tennessee. It was a bloody nightmare. I tried everything that I could get my hands on.I use to sit and just cry when I would see them. They freaked me out so bad. I never did get rid of them till I got back to Ohio. Tennessee, the area that I was in the whole neighborhood was infested.

In my family, we use a kind of powder to completely get rid of crockroaches. I haven't seen one this year. Five years ago, my mother moved some boxes and crockroaches were in them, (oh, I nearly get sick now). There are so many in the box that my 15-year-old niece cried in suprise," Nana, are you raising so many crockroaches?" My mother found it both funny and annoying.

Forget the traps, chemical substances.. those are for noobies seriously
Be brave ! All you need to do is buy a pair of rubber gloves, when you saw it coming, wear the glove and catch it ! throw it to a plastic bag or anything else that suitable.
If you keep using those insecticide, you will not only kill the cockroaches but you are slowly killing yourself too, this is a fact, not to scare you off !
