Would you rather live in the mountains or on the beach?

If you could choose to live in one of these places, which would it be? Would you rather live in a quiet, secluded house in the mountains, or a house on a private beach? I had a very hard time deciding. I love the beach at all times of the day - especially when there's nobody else on it! I absolutely hate crowds. I love to listen to gentle roar of the waves slowly crashing, and feel the tranquil and refreshing sea breeze. I also enjoy walking on the beach and looking out into the beautiful, vast horizon.
However, I would choose to live in the mountains. There seems to be more to keep me occupied. I could hike, mountain bike, go backpacking, fish, and canoe. Also, during the winter, I could go skiing, snowboarding, and sledding - all which I really enjoy. The beach is not very pleasant in the winter, and I think I would get tired of the same scenery every day. The mountains are more subject exploration.
So which would you choose? Please provide reasoning for your answer.

I love the beach, I really love the ocean, I love swimming in the ocean and looking out into the ocean, and sound of it, but I would not live on or near one. There is just to much potential for damage. Huricanes happen all the time, and it would be devasting to loose our home. I like the idea of a secluded mountain home. The only problem I would have with that would be getting up a steep road in snowy weather, that would be very scary. It is also beautiful in the mountains. Really I prefer a nice flat normal average neighborhood, but if I had to choose, I think I would go with the mountain home.

I would prefer to live on the mountain. Clean air, over the summer, is cold, nature is beautiful, bird sounds in late hours, etc.
