A baby survived abortion

I was really surprised to find out that a lady called Gianna survived a saline abortion in 1977. I have just bought her book and it looks like a fascinating read. Her biological mum was seventeen years old and she went to have an abortion at seven and a half months pregnancy. A nurse saw that a live baby had been born in the abortion clinic so she sent her to hospital. Amazingly the tiny baby survived but she wasn't able to walk until she was three and a half due to the damage the abortion did to her.
I would never have an abortion. I think an innocent baby can't choose to live but this lady did. I wonder about the world's missing people, those that have been aborted. I respect other people's decisions but I think adoption can be a happy story whilst abortion is a sad story. Some people that have an abortion regret this later in life. However once done nothing can bring back a baby that has been aborted.
Does abortion happen legally in your home country?
What is the highest limit? It is 24 weeks pregnancy is my home country but if the bay is disabled or the mother's life is in danger there is no limit.
Have you ever heard about a baby surviving abortion?

I agree with abortion but not at 7 and a half months! I think the limit in our country is right and I think that if we didn't have legal abortion then it would mean so many people going into then illegal clinis to get them done and causing harm to themselves. x

Hi Frankiecesca. Abortion is illegal in some countries. Sadly in this case some people do have a back alley style abortion. This can be dangerous if the place they have it performed is not clean enough. If the lady has an infection afterwards she might not want to turn to her local hospital. A nine year old girl was able to have one legally in Nicaragua, where is it usually illegal.

That exactly what I mean as to why it is better that it is legal as if we made it illegal then there would be more illegal and unsafe ones in not so clean conditions!
The age of 9 is horrendous and it is awful she even became pregnant in the first palce so young! x

This is the first time i read about a baby surviving abortion... and i think that person is a miracle and is destined for something important... since she was given like a second chance to life...
Abortion is illegal in my country... but there are still some people who perform it... and i hope they all get caught... if they are not prepared to have a baby... then i think the best option is adoption...

Thanks for your superb response my friend. I believe the lady is special and she does important work in education. I am glad that abortion is illegal in your country and hope that the people illegally performing abortions get caught. Yes, adoption is a chance for an unwanted baby to live.

Hi Amanda. Yes, it is an amazing story. Her biological mother was pushed into having an abortion and she was happy to see that her baby was still alive. Luckily the baby girl was adopted into a loving family. I also find the idea of aborting horrible and I find the idea of adopting hopeful. Maxine

I personally believe all abortions are murder, plain and simple. I know that won't make me popular but so be it. I do however believe in contraception that prevents conception not the kind that kills after conception has taken place.
But that is an amazing story. I never heard something like that. Wow!
How will God handle abortions. I personall think that one day He will bring all these unborn people back to life.
I always like this story, maybe you've seen it.
Diary of an Unborn Child
OCTOBER 5:
Today my life began. My parents do not know it yet, but it is I already. And I am to be a girl. I shall have blond hair and blue eyes. Just about everything is settled though, even the fact that I shall love flowers.
OCTOBER 19:
Some say that I am not a real person yet, that only my mother exists. But I am a real person, just as a small crumb of bread is yet truly bread. My mother is. And I am.
OCTOBER 23:
My mouth is just beginning to open now. Just think, in a year or so I shall be laughing and later talking. I know what my first word will be: MAMA.
OCTOBER 25:
My heart began to beat today all by itself. From now on it shall gently beat for the rest of my life without ever stopping to rest! And after many years it will tire. It will stop, and then I shall die.
NOVEMBER 2:
I am growing a bit every day. My arms and legs are beginning to take shape. But I have to wait a long time yet before those little legs will raise me to my mother’s arms, before these little arms will be able to gather flowers and embrace my father.
NOVEMBER 12:
Tiny fingers are beginning to form on my hands. Funny how small they are! I’ll be able to stroke my mother’s hair with them.
NOVEMBER 20:
It wasn’t until today that the doctor told mom that I am living here under her heart. Oh, how happy she must be! Are you happy, mom?
NOVEMBER 25:
My mom and dad are probably thinking about a name for me. But they don’t even know that I am a little girl. I want to be called Kathy. I am getting so big already.
DECEMBER 10:
My hair is growing. It is smooth and bright and shiny. I wonder what kind of hair mom has?
DECEMBER 13:
I am just about able to see. It is dark around me. When mom brings me into the world it will be full of sunshine and flowers. But what I want more than anything is to see my mom. How do you look, mom?
DECEMBER 24:
I wonder if mom hears the whispering of my heart? Some children come into the world a little sick. But my heart is strong and healthy. It beats so evenly: tup-tup, tup-tup. You’ll have a healthy little daughter, mom!
DECEMBER 28:
Today my mother killed me.

Is abortion legal? Yes
What's the highest limit? It depends but in general it's 24 weeks.
Baby surviving abortion? Never heard of one
Note* Adoption is usually only a happy story for the people adopting. Some women may regret abortion, but almost all women regret adoption. Just some facts. If you look at my profile, I've written a few articles on adoption, if you'd like to know more about what really goes on in adoptionland.

Hi Xcammiex. I think that a baby of 24 weeks pregnancy is capable of living in a special care baby unit. Some people therefore think 24 weeks is too late a cut off date. Pregnant ladies have a detailed scan at 20 weeks pregnancy so they can decide if they want to abort it the baby is disabled. A clear picture can only be given after a baby is born. I am going to have a look at your writing on adoption. Thanks. My mum's friend wasn't able to have children naturally in the 1960s so she adopted a girl and then a boy. The girls' biological mum was a teenager and the boy's biological mum was a business woman. He grew up a brilliant child and he has made such a successful career and now grown up has children and wife of his own.

i live in the philippines and in our country, abortion is not legal, but there are still people who do it..
i dont tolerate abortion too. people should be responsible with the consequence of their actions. i feel sorry for the babies that are being aborted, they are indeed helpless. i just dont know why other people can be so heartless.. well, i understand that they are not ready, but like you said, they can just have the baby adopted if they cant raise them. i have a friend who aborted her baby.. well she is still a friend until now but she knows i was against her decision, but then i told her, her word will always be the last say..
after she had the baby aborted, she realized that she did wrong and that before she sleep at night she always ask sorry to her baby.. and bid her baby goodnight.. she said that if she'll get pregnant again, even if she is not married and the father will not support the baby, she will never go through that thing again.
