My Bathroom Needs Help...

I have decided to try and decorate & paint my bathroom.
It's a rental, but the owner is fantastic, and just wants me to take care of the house as if it was my own, so...
I don't really have much decoration for the bathroom. And what little I do have is sea shells that I have collected.
It seems really dark in the bathroom as it is now, and I was hoping to brighten it up a little.
The walls now have wallpaper that is most likely older than me, and certainly more ugly than I, ha ha.
I'd really like to keep my sea shells in the bathroom, and kinda build a deco around them.
The tile is a sandy tan color (which will have to stay)
Any ideas for decorating?
What colors will go well with sea shells, nothing too drab please, like I said, I am trying to brighten the room up some. And I'd like to not go blue if at all possible, and pink, well, consider pink as out of the picture.

Well I dont know if you like boats and lighthouses. But i think that would be great for you to have. I really like the idea of the lighthouses. With your sea shells and a couple of small baskets and a couple picture of lighthouses i think your bathroom would be wonderful. When you are taking a hot shower and or bath. You will feel comfort. I think everyone should have that place of peace. So i hope you have a few ideas for your bathroom.

Oh yes, I love lighthouses! And they will fit right in with the seashells, great idea! And boats, hum, have to think about that one. But lighthouses for sure, and I think I saw a set of bathroom things (lotion, soap dispenser, rug, curtain...) at Walmart not too long ago. I'll have to check and see if they still have it
Thanks so much for adding to the discussion.

I think a nice big mirror, maybe an oval mirror you could probably pick up up somewhere in an op shop or just make one with some type of wood with a mirror and cover it all with shells and things to do with the sea...here is a mirrie I saw in a shop once, they made it from all broken plates and cups and other things...done with a sea theme could be nice...

Oh Lilaclady, lovely mirror, thanks for sharing. I do have a mirror on one wall, with I purchsed special for the bathroom, nothing fancy, but I was hoping by adding it to the room, I could reflect more light into the room from the TINY window, but it did not work. It's a great idea to add some of mt sea shells around it, thank you so much for the tip!
