How far are you willing to go for your faith?

What would you be willing to do? Go to war? Die as a martyr? I'm Catholic and somebody asked me this question recently: if somebody placed a gun to your head and told you to say that God doesn't exist or they would kill you, would you do it? I hesitated. I'm still not sure what I would do. Part of me wants to be a martyr, but another part of me thinks that my life would be wasted if I died this way. The same person asked me a similar question: would you say it if they pointed a gun to your son's head? I would have to say yes - I couldn't bear seeing a loved one die in front of my eyes, and in my power.
So here are the questions:
1) Would you sacrifice your own life for your faith?
2) Would you sacrifice your child's or loved one's life for your faith?

No I am not a hero to die as a martyr for my faith. I want to live. I will never betray my faith but I am not prepared to stick out my neck for it. I would still practise my faith in hiding if necessary. I will never sacrifice the life of my beloved ones my sons or my wife due to faith.
