Have you submitted a wrong response to a post here in mylot?

Oh this is embarrassing for me hehe.. I know this may not be a big deal to you fellow lotters but it is to me and this could be a lesson to everyone. I have just responded to a friend's post but I made a wrong response. I do read a post first before responding to it. Sometimes I read it twice and while I am writing my response I still read it again and trying to understand what the post is all about before hitting on submit button. But just a while ago I made a mistake. I know I read the post and understood it but I got confused and submitted a wrong response. I read the discussion all over again and immediately corrected myself. Good thing my friend never reacted on my response and just commented back about the subject. A lesson I have learned, even if I have read the discussion and understood it, before submitting, read it again to avoid mistakes. Has this happened to you before? Have you ever submitted a wrong response? Do you correct yourself when you realized you made a wrong response? If someone submitted a wrong response to your post, how do you react on it?

i have not done this because i usually read the discussion somewhat and when i get the idea then i respond to it. i have made some spelling mistakes and made mistakes like the ones in which one can easily read between the lines. but i try not to give a response that does not match the discussion and it is a good habit to read it again. and yes mate it would be very humiliating if one posts a wrong response and if that mentor reads and responds to it and you got good luck and thanks for sharing will be extra cautious with my post from now onwards.

There have been many times actually that I haven't read the post or another response to a discussion properly and then ended up making some stupid comment! And it is ALWAYS the second you press the submit button that you realize your mistake! lol. I do go back immediately and correct myself though and apologize for my error. Sometimes we go so hard on this site that everything starts to blend in after a while so we are only human and these things happen! If someone misinterprets one of my own discussions I will sometimes reclarify my point again too. It depends really.

Phew.. I'm glad you said that we're only humans. It eases the feeling of embarrassment hehe. And correcting oneself would be the appropriate thing to do if we make mistakes, not only here in mylot but in real life. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for the BR, iskayz! I'm happy to report that since I responded to this discussion all that time ago, I haven't managed to get my responses mixed up and whacked one in the wrong discussion! I've definitely had to explain myself a few times though, I'm sure.

I haven't done this yet. But have noticed that sometimes when people read my response they react to it (respond back) as though I were correcting them, when I was just giving my opinion on the subject. Am sure that happens a lot to all of us too. I make spelling, grammar mistakes - especially when I am in a hurry, for sure.

Oh yes that sometimes happened. But for me that is not a way of correcting you but rather exchanging of ones opinions about a post and I think is good cause you get to interact with users more. I seldom make mistakes in spelling cause microsoft has auto check feature on mispelled words. What always happens is that I miss some words cause I think my mind speaks faster than my typing. Happy mylotting!

I think that well, people make mistakes here. There is translation issues sometimes, and while I do get upset I don't actually tell the person I am. Sometimes they misunderstand, sometimes they've got other discussions on their minds, or are trying to remember supper is cooking. In any case, I think that it's okay to feel embarrassed but you've learned from it and are willing to triple check instead of just double checking your response to a discussion!

Hi cowgirl! That reminds me, I was actually trying to create in my mind in between my responding to other's discussions. Maybe that's why I got confused.. I am hoping to make a post that day and I'm having difficulty thinking how to start it. It's a blessing in disguise too that I made a mistake responding. I was able to share a topic that I happens to be more interesting to talk about that what I had in my mind.

Hey nice to see you again! Yeah I was lucky my friend didn't reacted on it in a rude way. He did corrected me but very nicely. And it somehow lessened my embarrassment. Keep posting friend!

There are some postings where I can tell that English is not their primary language. That makes it difficult to understand exactly what they are asking. I've tried my hardest to respond appropriately, by reading and re reading their posts. Hopefully my answers help them in someway though I wouldn't be surprised if their was a mis-communication once or twice. Don't feel too bad, I'm sure it happens all of the time, and at least you caught the mistake quickly. Thanks for posting and happy mylotting.

H! I have experienced that many times, reading a post that's very difficult to understand because of grammatical errors. There are times that I can understand and try my best to make a good response. But if no matter how many times I read it but can't figure out what the posts is all about, I just don't respond on it. Thanks for sharing!

That is probably good advice. I just feel like I want to help them not only with their problem but also with their English. I think it takes a lot of courage to try to post a discussion in a second language. Its would be very discouraging if nobody answered the discussion. I guess I'm just too empathetic. Thanks for your advice. Have a nice week and happy mylotting.

never did instead i made mistakes because i open more tabs, i taught the one i am responding is a private message because somebody ask my referral link of one of my programs, what i did i give it to him not minding that i was a respond of a discussions. so immediately i hit submit button, few seconds later i found out that it was not a private message. i immediately send message to the admin to request that post will be deleted. i post also a discussions related to the topic and i ask apology to fellow members and i am thankful they understand me.

iskayz I think maybe we all might have goofed at least once. I know I did when I put the wrong response to the wrong discussion, then found out I had done it, and corrected my errors. I felt really stupid and embarrassed, but everyone was very nice about it.

Yeah, that's what I like here in mylot. The people are nice and no one is rude. I was also embarrassed but my friend never reacted on my mistake and we just continued our exchanging of views. But next time I will be very careful before submitting a response.

I dont think thats happened to me yet, because I usually try to read the discussion but reading this discussion just reinforces the fact that we have to read and make sure that are typing the correct responds to a discussion, but so far I haven't made any big mistakes accept for my lame spelling. anyway happy myloting.

Yes of course I do. Sometimes I read the post wrong. It happend the other day. I had responded to a discussion and then a few hours later I saw that I had a response from the starter of the discussion. The person who started it corrected me and informed me about what he meant. I guess I was the only one who read wrong.

I guess that really happens sometimes. Maybe stress is also is a factor why it happens. Reading and responding for long hours is tiring too. Thanks for sharing!

Since I came to mylot this have never happened to me, I do admit it can happen to anybody here, but once you do once should be able to be keen just when responding to discussion, and I believe also that those who start discussion should also be able to to detect such response and just comment on the to tell whoever responded that his response is irrelevant to the started discussion.

I agree with you that we should be keen when responding to a discussion. We should take note of important points in the post so we'll never get confused and we will be able to answer whatever queries the topic holder has. Not like what happened to me hehe Keep posting!
