Makes someone's day! Go on..... I URGE you to do it.....

I have been stepping outside of my normal mylot behaviours today and clicking through the "no responses" section as far as I can and then selecting a topic and then responding to it. I like the picture in my head of someone that has posted a topic well over 15 hours ago and thinking they bombed out, suddenly seeing a response appear out of nowhere! There is nothing worse than posting a discussion and then getting no responses so I feel very happy to make other people's day like this! I am sure that this would be a completely unexpected surprise for people and this in turn makes me feel great. So have you done this yourself? Think about how you would feel if you were the one that suddenly received a response to a discussion that had sat there with a big fat zero for so long and then BAM! Instant relief and a smile to boot! Think about how you would feel yourself and then give someone else the chance to feel the same! Are you with me?

LOL. I like to browse in the no response section. I like to be the number one who post in the discussion because I like my name to come first. The bigger opportunity to get responded/ commented, the bigger opportunity to get the original answer and the bigger opportunity to get chosen as the best response. LOL. Yeah, but you're right. I have some discussions that left without responses and that's quite disappointing. But somehow, there are some discussions that get no responses because that was because it was meaningless, one line posts. People doesn't know what it means, they don't know what it is and people doesn't know how to answer it. I want to make someone's day, and I want to make my day too. But forcing myself to answer nonsense discussion is not the way it is LOL. I am with you James, but not with you completely LOL. Have a nice day

I think that we ALL check the no response section from time to time; but how many of us go past page 20 or beyond? Sure there are a lot of inane topics back there and maybe many of them have no responses for a reason, but I am also surprised at how many great topics are back there as well! I can assure you that there will be no need to force yourself to answer any nonsense discussions at all as there are many topics of substance if we just take the time to look! They have either been placed at a bad time or in a wrong category and have then ended up lost in the system. All I know is that it makes me feel happy to give someone an unexpected surprise! Thanks for responding klaudine and for being the number one poster here too!

I have not been on mylot for a long time, because nobody would comment on any of my posts. This is my first time back in a long time. I wish there was someone like you a olng time ago. I will try mylot again for a while and see how it goes. Everybody deserves atleast one response.

Welcome back oldcoger! There are so many members on mylot these days that of course discussions will end up lost in the system and at any given point there are literally thousands of discussions that have never had a response! In time though, we do become more savvy with the way things work on here and can minimize the risk of zero responses. Try to make sure you place topics in the right interest section for one; and try to take note of which sections attract the most activity too. Increasing your friends list and making the effort to interact with them regularly will also give you a good chance of them doing the same in return which means that over time the lack of responses will become a thing of the past! Good luck the second time around and hang in there.

I do this once in a while after reading a similar post of someone who only goes through the no response section. But then I would go through a page of discussions that I had no idea how to respond. I still do it anyway. Yesterday, I posted a new discussion and it lingered there LONELY for 10 hours until someone responded to it. And it felt really good! If that responder was just an arm away, I would have given him a hug and would have made him deaf by my grateful screams.

I don't want to mention the topic itself but it had Tintin and MacGyver in one discussion. Ahahah. Please do not delete me, myLot. Yes, I was questioning myself why I even decided to start a discussion like it but I'm quite happy to have one reply there, just as long as it's not 0. I will pay it forward!

Hey James... Yep. I'm with you all the way. I started a discussion about looking through the no response page and finding really good topics to respond to... I've actually been doing that. I have two pages that I love visiting. The discussions that my friends have made and the no response pages. I guess we just have to be a little patient in going through the no response pages because there are a lot! I think the farthest that I've gotten was three weeks ago and that's already several pages already. I'd like to go back to the oldest discussion with no response but MyLot does not have the option to do that. I'm hoping they can have something similar to Yahoomail where you can go to the oldest e-mail and work from there.

Hi rosedust I actually answered a zero response topic today that was 6 months old! Imagine having one THAT old and then getting a response? Priceless! lol. Yes it would definitely be great if we could immediately go to the last page and then work our way backwards. I wonder how many pages of them there are? There would have to be thousands when you think of how long mylot has been around! Thanks for responding to ther discussion and let's hope that one day there IS the ability to go all the way back instantly so we can REALLY give some people some unexpected suprises!

hi James great discussion . Now I am remembering how down I felt when my first discussion gathered only moss but no responses. so I see your point. I am going to try to make someone elses day also as I would like to think I made someone smile, too.

Thanks Hatley. I am happy to hear that your own experiences have inspired you to make an effort for someone else. Now they don't have to feel the same! I am hoping that the collective efforts of many of us will create a mass of smiles across the world! We obviously can't address all of them but even one or two a day by a number of us can make a difference. Thanks for responding and good luck digging through the archives!

Having been a newbie not that long ago & remembering what it was like to sit there & wonder, I do my best to reply to a minimum of one on the "No Response" tab every morning. Some days it takes me a while to find one worth responding to as there is some real crap there. Other days I might find 3 or 4 that need a response as some are nothing more than a newbie asking that infernal question that nobody wants to answer. I feel that in order to become a quality friend with quality posts, some people just need a jump start!!! So, I forgo my earnings to try & give them the jump start they need. I donate a little bit of my time now in order to reap the benefits later when they learn their way around. I hope I never become so hardened that I look down my nose at the new person trying to learn. I fully believe that myLot was set up for the "has beens" to mentor the "newbie". My earnings are directly related to how well I am able to instruct the incoming member. We have added 11,000 new members just in the time that I have been here. I'm sure there a lot who will not make it here. I'm just as sure that those will take care of themselves by leaving. Those who truly want to learn & earn will work hard to get there. Those that don't will remain lazy & will leave because they won't learn nor earn. This was just the long way around to say YES I RESPOND to the NO RESPONSES!!!

I think it all comes down to timing more than anything else and becasue of this they just end up drifing further and further away.....I am happy to hear that you made it as far as page 20 so good luck heading even further into the unknown! Hopefully there will be many more people receiving pleasant surprises then just like the one you have just mentioned!

lol, Most of the responses that I give are to no response topics. By the time I finish my response though and submit it there are usually responses. I haven't actually checked the hours though, I usually respond to the ones that are on top that I find interesting. I'll start browsing the older ones though to see if there are any interesting ones that I can respond to. Sometimes a topic just needs a first comment to get the ball rolling.

I used to always spend a lot of time in the first pages of the no response section too before I became more active overall but I have decided to dig a little deeper for a change! Change is supposed to be as good as a holiday right? PLUS I get to make people happy with unexpected surprises once in a while! Thanks for responding and what you have said is very true, sometimes all a topic needs is a little push to get things happening!

James, I've had some special friends here who did this for me when i was a newbie. So i know how many times my day has been made. I've done this to other discussions somw even over 2 to 3 days old, many a time and sure intend to keep going on this.

Of course we could expect nothing less from you alok! I would have liked it if people had of done this for me too when I first joined but there were so few of us compared to today! I fortunately though had one wonderful member who ended up seeking out all of my zero response topics after I had been here a year or so and cleared them all for me so I could resolve them. I will always be grateful for that! Thanks for the comments.

I used to check the 'no responses' discussions earlier. Now I hardly get the time to be on mylot and respond to my friends discussions...let alone check the no responses and the new users....but I do try to do it once in a while when I get the time. My reason for doing so is not only to bring a smile to their face. A discussion without any responses doesn't usually figure in the general discussions list. Once it gets a response and a comment, there is more visibility and gets the discussion started off and moving.

I used to a lot as well but then I ended up drifting away from it. Then I made a decision to try something new and go waaaaaay back in the lists to see what I could find. And I have ended up pleasantly suprised! This is why I decided to post a topic regarding the same..... Your reasoning is very true and I have seen a number of discussions I answered suddenly get a little movement just because of the one response! Thanks for the response SViswan.

Oh yes, I am with you on this James. This indeed feels great. I try to do it all the time. I try to go back some 7-8 pages back on NO RESPONSES tab and respond to as many as I can. But then if only you people help me with little more time...

I have tried this, but often can't find one that I have anything meaningful to add to it. I don't want to just post to post. I want it to be helpful and pertinent. I do love it when I get a response to one that I thought had no chance. Plus, you can't clear discussions with no responses! Great idea James, I will go do 5 right now!

You are right! I found some interesting things to respond to after page 10. I wonder how many pages there are? I think I will explore some more and see if I can reach the end. Charity is kind of fun. Nice campaign you have started. Hopefully others will take up the banner and participate too. And I made a new friend!

I got as far as page 160 something earlier today Trace but I am sure it goes WAY further than that! I'm glad you found things worthwhile all the way back there and a new friend too? Giddy up! I don't ever wish to post for the sake of posting either Trace! So I looked and looked and the further down the list I got, the more interesting some of the topics seemed to get! There's nothing like stepping out of our comfort zones right? And we get to make someone's day as well so it's a win/win! Thanks for responding and good luck on the no response list journey!

I also like to make a persons day and respond to their discussion if thre is no response. I have know what its like to have no response postings and it isn't depressing, but it makes you wonder what you have done wrong that no one answers it. Brightening up someones day always makes me feel better about myself as a person as well as making them feel better as well.

Great attitude shell! These are just simple little acts and there are no losers when we do it! I too have had my share of zero response topics in the past and it's not a nice feeling at all. Sure it's not depressing but it's definitely disappointing! I wish I knew myself what the winning formula was for making sure we always get traction with our topics but to this day I have never been able to work it out. Thanks for responding to the discussion.

I do check the no response section about once a week or so, when I get bored. There's a lot to wade through, but once in awhile, you come across something interesting. And, I won't lie, I respond to some of the dumbest ones I can find, some days. I have even found some that are close to a year old that I respond to. What the heck, right? It's not like I am doing much of anything else when I am here, anyway, so.... Yeah.

I have been checking the no response section more often myself and I think that it's a great idea that you have decided to do the same. I never actually thought about it making someone's day, but I know that it would sure make mine if I finally got a response. Especially since I spend most of the night on mylot trying to earn money. Plus it doesn't just benefit them, it benefits you as well! Some people say that responding as the first responder earns you more, I am not really sure of that, but if it's so, that's great! Anyway I am off to the No Response section!

I very often go on theno responses. A lot of them have only been on there a few minutes but I try to answer the ones that have been on for quite a while. I have had one on there myself and I only hope that I will get an answer sometime. It is the first time this has happened to me so I feel that I will have to answer even more of the no responses so people will not feel as bad as I felt.
