This is another thing that drives me nutty, not rinsing out your pots and pans.
After you eat what's wrong with running some water over your dishes.
You don't have to wash them right away, but at least get the crud of.
Do you rinse your dishes after you eat?

I am a nutcase over this too. My mother always laughs at me because I'll start doing the dishes before the meal is actually over. I had an aunt who did this (not her sister, my dad's) and she'll say, "You're just like Aunt Ann, you can't even wait until we're finished eating before you start cleaning up." I can't help it, I HATE HATE HATE food scraps left on dishes. Whenever my husband cooks for himself he'll leave the pot or pan on the stove and then I have to clean it immediately because I just can't stand it sitting there. My mom actually is a "soaker", she'll let dirty dishes soak in the sink and I think that's even more digusting than just letting them sit there dry. I rinse them off and get as much off of them as possible. I also wash dishes differently than most people, I don't fill the sink with water I just let the water run constantly and more or less "shower" the dishes as opposed to "bathing" them like most people. It just seems way cleaner that way.

Yup, I'm very fussy, almost neurotic over dirty pots, pans and plates. I usually clean the pots and pans immediately after cooking. It's better than having to scrape off oil or messes that have stuck to them!
My hubby used to help me wash the plates after dinner. However he got everything wet - floor, sink; it created more work for me! So I would rather do the washing myself!

This annoys me too. I live with two other people that don't like to run water in their dishes either. Or, they run water in their dishes but make sure to leave a bunch of food in the pots, pans or dishes for someone else to come along and take out of the sink later. It's kind of annoying really because I'm always the person to come in and clean up after everyone else.

After cooking and serving the food I will wash the pots and pans before I even sit down to eat. I use non stick cookware so clean up is no hassle and it does not take but a few minutes, then all I have to do after dinner are the plates, cups and utensils. I have been doing it like this for so long that I could never break out of this habit.

reading this makes me hear my wife talking at me. she always say that to me. and sometimes even tell me if i cant do it then i shoud eat at those disposal plates har har har. when i am busy with our child i tent to forget that. there is a small basket in our sink were we put the bones or fins or the small food that we can no longer eat... i forget (sometimes only har har har) to clean my plate and to put the garbage of my plate there. sorry i think your discussion is really for me.

My husband, used to wash the dishes, it was I cook, he wash the dishes. Well, he no longer wash the dishes, I cook and I now wash the dishes. My problem with him is he will finish eating and put his plate on the counter. He won't scrape it and put it in the sink, he will leave it with scraps, bones, food, whatever. He will put a glass in the sink that he had milk in, and won't even run water in the glass. When I wash it, I have to scrub, because the milk has gotten hard.
He leaves his half finished cup of coffee on the counter, sink is right there.
After I eat I scrap my plate, and wash the dishes.

oh i hate hate hate that! after many a year of loudly complaining about this, i THINK ive finally got them all trained. well most of the time. occasionally there is still the one dish on the bottom after a meal that hasnt been scraped GGGRRRR!
like a few others here have said..ive also started washing the dishes/pots/pans ive used to cook the meal in before i sit and eat my own meal! just seems easier that way.
my grandmother (whom i take care of) is infamous for leaving tissue or napkins/paper towels in the bowl or cup and then filling it with water (rinsing i guess i dont know) and then leaving it there so it gets all smooshy and gross. and then i reach into the sink and feel this soft nasty THING! oh its disgusting!

thats true! most people just pile their dishes after they have eaten. if you make a good habit of just rinsing them after you have eaten you will notice that it more hygienic, make washing looks simple and takes just some seconds!! try it!
