Ah...the joy of choosing my next book to read.

I just finished reading "The Darkest Part of the Woods" by Ramsey Campebell. I was a pretty good subtle horror. But the real thrill of finishing a book for me, means it's time to choose which book to read next. I have 105 of them to choose from. At least those are the ones that are listed on my To Be Read list on paperbackswap.com. There is probably a couple more I've forgotten to add to the pile. I love the thrill of choosing and started a new book. A whole new adventure and world awaits me. Which one will it be? Of course it's not always easy to pick a new one. I read all types of genres, so it may take me a bit to figure out what I want to read next. Since I just finished a horror novel though it probably won't be another horror. So does anyone else love choosing and starting a new book to read? How do you go about choosing what you will read next?

I'm not a very big reader but it has to be a true story for me to get into it. I think titles also have alot to do with whether I'll even pick it up. I like to read things that I've heard about. One of my favorite true storiesis, although very sad and horrific, Tears of Rage by John Walsh. It's about the abduction of his son Adam. Just a side note here: If you've ever shopped at Walmart and heard them page "Code Adam" to find a missing child in the store, Code Adam was started due to the dissapearence of Adam Walsh. Anyway, I love this book. Good luck in finding your next one to read.

Oooh, I love true stories as well. I pretty much read anything but romance novels. Except I will read those gothic novel types which are sort of part ghost/mystery part romance. I actually work at walmart. We've had two code adams since I've worked there. ( I started last November). But they were both cancled quickly as the child was found wandering. More often than not we get lost mommy announcments over the intercom. We find the child wandering but no parent around. We had one the other day and it took 2 announcements and about 20 minutes or so for the parent to bother to show up. Then she yelled at the kid for wandering off. The child was only 2!

I hated it when parents did that when I worked at Walmart. It's not the kids fault, the parents should be watching them or they shpuld be strapped into a cart.

Ironically I went to the library today for the first time in months to choose a book, I have found the internet was taking over all my reading time, before the internet I always had my head in a book where I could escape into fantasyland and get involved in the characters in the book. But I decided I have to spend time reading, I love detective novels and went to choose one today, as soon as I got home I took the book out of my bag and dived straight into it, I realized what I have been missing and now I will endeavour to set aside quality time each day to read. I also love horror books, Stephen King, Richard Laymon and Shaun Hutson are my favourite novellists. I hate finishing a book it's like saying goodbye to a friend.
