Do you want to break tradition and cook a new recipe this year for Thanksgiving? Ready to have something different? What is it that you are tired of or would like to change? What is it that you didnt like about last years dinner? What will you change this year?

This will be the first Thanksgiving that my wonderful Father won't be at our table. My mother is sure to be quite sad. Dad always fixed his special stuffing...it was basically a cornbread stuffing with some sausage in it! I didn't like last year's menu as all the dishes besides the turkey were carb-based (sweet potatos, mashed potatoes, dressing/stuffing, and rolls!) I want to infuse more vegetables into the meal this year.

This will be the first Thanksgiving that My husband will be without his father. As some of you know, he passed away 5 months ago.I know it will be tough on his family and I surely will always miss him. His Dad was one of the kindest and most gracious gentlemen that I ever had the pleasure to meet.

I love the traditional Thanksgiving dinner. I look forwared to it each year. Not just for the food but to spend it with family. Thanksgiving is a time for family and that is the part I love and look forward too each year. I love my family

I love my family too! I love to cook and love the house filled with all the wonderful scents of the fresh baked goodies. I love to cook the traditional meal. I am different from my husband on the dressing, his family does bread dressing and to me its just not as good as cornbread dressing. I grew up with it and my mom could cook up storm. She never used instant anything. My mom cant cook anymore because of her health. I can only hope to be anywhere near as good of a cook as she was!

Since I have moved from Florida. We have broken from the old tradition of what we had for Thansgiving. My in laws are way different than my family. But I want to start a new tradition down here by bringing some of the old traditional things back. but I want to add new twist to them. Such as I want to spice up the plain dishes to add some more flavor and such to them.

Thats a great idea! I do love the traditional meals. I love working with spices because you can do so much. I just have to have my cornbread dressing. I cant enjoy my dinner without it. My mom used to make it with oysters and omg, it was so good.

A few things we have that are not a traditional dish for Thanksgiving. but traditional for my family. Stuffed shells and broccoli cheese rice casasarole.

I would like to try my hand at making pumpkin soup. It's been a thought for several years now and this year I think might be the year. It's not at all hard to make it's just the work involved with the pumpkin itself. I don't like using canned pumpkin if I can avoid it. I think a nice, warm pumpkin soup for a first course might make up for not making turnips for the last several years (only two people actually eat them).

I have heard of this and they say its really great! I have never tried the pumpkin soup but I would also like to. I think it could be very good and especialy on a cold day when you need something warm.
