I promise you if you can locate a medicine called "666" - it will cure you immediately! It is THE NASTIEST tasting stuff in the whole world, I warn you. But I swear it works! It's super hard to find - I think it used to be made in Jacksonville, Florida. I know the basis to it is quinine. Oh it is so gross, but you won't have to take more than maybe 10 doses at the most and you're cured!

Kill or cure by the sound of it... I think I'd sooner suffer the cold.

There's always chicken soup. It's an old granny's remedy, but it has been proven to work. It helps to break up the phlegm and soothes that sore throat. Steam with or without menthol helps. Vicks Vaporrub on the chest at night is also another old treatment that actually helps. The menthol fumes open up the airways so that you can breathe better and thus sleep better. Above all, drink lots and lots of fluids. Orange juice is good, if it doesn't hurt your throat too much. I like hot drinks like any kind of hot tea or apple cider. My husband swears by the hot apple cider.

-drink lots of fluids, mostly either 7UP or Orange juice, both filled with ice cubes. -take some tylenol as instructed on the box or take some acetaminophen. -drink some herb tea. -suck on some sore throat lozenges, whether walgreens or ricola -if cough develops, take some cough syrup. -stay in bed, relax and sleep with your warm blankets.

I don't know how old you are for starters. Have you seen a Doctor? You could have strep throat or something serious. There is a lot going around and if you have had a fever this long, then you need to be seen by a Dr. ASAP. I have used a medicine before many times that is like a mirable medicine. You need a prescription for it however. Are you coughing really bad? Is your head pounding and chest, etc hurting? The medication is called Hystinex and believe me it is the best. Within about 1-2 days you will find that you are feeling so much better and your not coughing at all. In some cases it is an immediate relief however most Dr's don't like to prescribe too often because it has a narcotic in it. If you have a family Dr. and he knows you will then ask him to please write this for you. Don't let them get it confused with the Tussinex, etc. It must be the Hystinex only. I was so bad off and couldn't move because of the pain from coughing. Couldn't talk, breathe or hold my bladder anymore. I felt like I was dying. I found that I had immediate results from this. I hadn't slept for about 2 weeks due to the serious coughing and when I took my first dose of this medicine, I stopped coughing right away. Then I would know when it was time to take another dose because the coughing was coming back. I know several people I have told to request this from their Dr. and they did and the results were the same for them also. It is extremely important to keep your throat wet at all times so drink plenty of nice cold fluids. As the throat dries out it becomes harder to drink or eat so then it's like startting all over again. Get some Cepastat lozengers also. When I had tonsilitus I was given them in the hospital and they numbed my throat so I could at least drink. I was not able to consum anything because my throat had closed up on me. I had to do the lozengers and then drink cold fluids and then I was able to eat. Good luck my dear and I hope you feel better soon.

Please excuse my typos here I was in a hurry....LOL. Also don't forget to take something for your fever. In most cases it is tylenol but you can get the liquid kind for faster relief. I am not a Doctor in any way, just a mother of 5 sons, 1 daughter and many other children besides my husband...LOL. I have been through a lot taking care of them all so it's just experience, trial, error and motherhood that has led me to knowing what I do....LOL. Many times I have to tell the Dr what to do in certain cases when I feel they are wrong...haha. Anyway please do go get checked out. There is no way you should be running a fever like that for that many days. Something tells me you have an infection and you need the right medicines. Have you taken any antibiotics for this yet? If so and they haven't worked as of yet then you might need a new kind. I am currently suffering from a serious cold that started about 10 days ago. The Antibiotics and cough medicine were not working so I have been put on new ones. My Doctor didn't want to give me the hystinex this time because of my heart condition and the fact I just had heart surgery. However it's getting to the point he will probably have to do so. He prescribed the tussinex due to this and it has not worked for me. Whenever you have a fever like that, there is an infection somewhere and you need to have it checked out right away. There are some serious infections going around and my husband has been in the hospital for one he got back in July which starts with a strephed throat. I don't want to scare you but this infection can be deadly if not caught in time. He is in serious condition right now and it has been months so don't play around with this thing. My heart goes out to you, I know how horrible you must feel. Please go to the Doctor and get help.

Sounds like you have that sinus or viral stuff that is "going around". All you can probably do is drink lots of fluids (water!) and get rest. Don't forget to eat something - soup or what ever you can handle with your throat. Try taking some ibuprofen/motrin for the pain if tylenol is not helping you. I usually drink hot tea with lemon and/or a dash of honey in it when I am feeling this way. Good luck to you and feel better soon.

You have had this long enough, that you may need to go to the school med. office and see some one there, you could have something more serious. A fever usually means an infections and if that what you have you made need prescription meds. Don't take a chance with your health.

Hon, you don't have a cold you have the flu. If you haven't done so already, maybel you should go see a doctor. If not, take a couple of aspirin or ibuprofen and drink lots of fluids. Stay warm. For goodness sakes, don't expose anyone else to it!

Hi jijomathew, I myself have just gotten over a cold. Have you tried Alka-Seltzer Plus Cold, it works wonders. The taste is a little weird but, if you shug it, you won't taste a thing. Try using a little bit of water like half a cup, then put the tablets in there. Let the tablets settle and stir it before you drink it. It took me two glasses of this to get me back on my feet. I'm not sure if they non drowsy but, the drowsy kind helps you sleep like a baby. I hope you feel better soon.

aw, you poor thing! Well, when I feel a cold coming, I get my favourite jammies on, along with my thick wool spoungebob squarepants socks, get a big cup of hot chocolate, with honey and nutmeg in it, and cuddle up in bed with my household 2 cats. annnnnnnd, if I feel dizzy? I get a hot pack, one of those reheat able/freezable packs, and wrap it around my neck, OR, and not too many people know this, the bend at my elbow, for some reason, it's the best part for both cooling yourself down and warming up, I guess because it's one of the areas where you have easy access to a main artery...*shrugs* Well I wish you good luck and hope you get better!

Tea with honey and lemon, and lots of it. If you have a cold, antibiotics won't help. If you take them for a cold, your body will eventually become immune to them, then when you DO need them they won't work. Sleep, rest and fluids are the best thing. If the cold lasts much longer, you should see a doctor, just to make sure nothing else is going on. Hope you're feeling better soon! Please let us know, ok?

poor thing. I know its coming up with the weather changing. I have been giving my kids more vitamins and making them drink orange juice once a day to get the vitamins they need for this cold season and I am praying they don't get sick since it always seems that they do. Drink some tea and rest. Its best to sleep it off and drink alot of fluids to flush it out of your system. Hope you feel better soon.

oh dear that must have been terrible. maybe you need to really sleep. lying in bed but not sleeping is not good for you. there is really nothing that cures a cold. the only thing is to allow our body ample rest to fight off the virus. do drink lots and lots of water to flush out the virus. make some chicken soup to replenish the nutrients. get well soon and all the best for your examinations. cheers ;p

that sounds more like a flu than a cold. and they really do knock the stuffing out of you. colds generally only make you feel totally miserable for 2 or so days.. while a flu can linger on and on for a couple weeks.. and even after its passed.. you still feel fatigued beyond beleif, and the littlest bit of activity will wear you out. the only thing you can do really is rest as much as possible. give yer body a chance to heal and recover. take some fever reducer to kill that temporarilly.. keep yerself hyrdrated.. and ride it out. hope you feel better soon

If you have a temperature that high, then you do not have a cold....you have a fever. EAT! The best thing that you can do, is have (believe it or not) chicken soup. This will replace the electrolites in your system, that your body is lacking at present. A hot lemon drink before bedtime, should help ease your throat. DO NOT drink any milk. Keep yourself lightly covered, and above all....rest! In a few days you should be feeling better. cdrxo

There's not much you can do to get rid of the cold, it has to run its course, but you can help the symptoms. Tea with honey and lemon, cough drops (I like Riccola), hot salty soup etc help your sore throat feel better. American chemists sells a spray for sore throats. It has a Novocaine or lanocaine type base and numbs the throat.
