In the midst of all our financial woes and the bailout this to me is an absolute disgrace. What do you think should be done about how AIG is spending our tax dollar bailout money???? AIG Execs Take Spa Vacation After Bailout Trip Angers Lawmakers WASHINGTON -- Less than a week after the federal government had to bail out American International Group Inc., the company sent executives on a $440,000 retreat to a posh California resort, lawmakers investigating the company's meltdown said. The tab included $23,380 worth of spa treatments for AIG employees at the coastal St. Regis resort south of Los Angeles even as the company tapped into an $85 billion loan from the government it needed to stave off bankruptcy http://www.wesh.com/money/17652421/detail.html

Whiteheather: it doesn't surprise me in the least, that's one of the many reason's I detest our government and the stupid crap they pull for other big shots while the rest of us struggle to buy food and clothing; I've not been a fan of our government since going on disability back in 1999; but that's another meltdown story (for me) but when I was going through the "process" of getting my disability, the place they had us all meet up at was not your basic court room house or anything close to it, when the judge read over my case I had to have a friend drive me to a "posh" resort area about two hours from where I live, they held our disability cases at a swanky place called Tan Tara down at the Lake of the Ozarks here in Missouri aka state of MISERY...I was so shocked and so pissed!! I could never afford to go to a place like Tan TAra myself its a fancy resort like I said and has a big old Golf course and the whole nine yards. It used to be "the place to go" down at the Lake area but over the years other fancier places have been developed; but my point is how disgusted I was that my court case for my disability was held in a fancy room down at one of the fanciest places in our state; NOW HOW STUPID IS THAT? Guess the poor old judge needed to squeeze in some golf in between our court cases, the bunch of us had to wait out our turn to be heard in the 90-100 degree heat YEP OUTSIDE!! No comforts what so ever for us poor folks in a bad way and in pain and suffering, talk about MISERABLE!! I will never in my life understand that!!

That does not surprise me. Apart from the judge getting a free vacation it is even more disgusting that you and other disabled people had to wait outside.

That is a bunch of bull hocky. I have been there, to that resort, courtesy of some well off family members. The very least they should have done would have been to find you places to wait comfortably while you awaited the hearings. I am sure they could have found space. I am sorry that anyone would be treated that way.

I like that Obama is furious and wants the money returned and the exec's fired...he was the one calling up rep's and promising them stuff when he gets elected if they would vote the bailout through. Maybe he, along with alot of other ppl, should have thought this through alot more...BTW, just out curiosity, I'm wondering why an accountant wasn't set up outside of the company to handle the money...that would seem the smarter move to me. The only saving grace for this bailout of AIG is the fact that many people who had pensions there have been bailed out, along with the jerks running the country. I think they need to pay the money back that was spent at the resort, and the people who had the brain child of going need to be fired. The idea of prison time for fraud appeals to me, as well as having them have to do community service. I will tell you that these are only my dreams, and none of them will happen.

Its really ridiclous that there have not been any regulations sooner. I cant believe that there was noone checking into this untill it was too late. Knowing that the consequences would be so severe, there is no explanation for the lack of regulation. Where is the accountabilty and will they pay for this injustice or will the tax payers just all suffer the loss.....

But I just heard that we are actually giving AIG more money. I could be mistaken, but that is what I think I heard on the news. Yikes.

I am not sure what will happen but I did see a couple of the big shots before some kind of judicial hearing. So perhaps there will be some kind of retribution

Elect a democrat! But seriously, we all ought to loudly protest! And boycott anything the company has its hands in. It's pathetic and shameful!

See I knew some crap like this was going to happen. Thats why I was against this stupid bail out crap from the start. All they ever do is spend money they don't have and then we have to come in and suffer. Of course they are going to try and spin it to make it seem like it was for something good. We should have just let them go under, but instead we as tax payers now have to suffer because they want to keep spending money they don't have on crap they don't need. I say fire all their a$$es and start all over with new people who actually know what the hell they are doing. Either that or put them all in jail and make them repay the money.
