Back pain is common for mothers who have small children. That's what my doctor said, and so she just advised me to take pain relievers if the pain is severe. Before i get to have a massage. I also sometimes put a hot compress on the aching area of my back. What about you? Do you have some medications or special exercise to relieve the pain and strengthen your back?

I hate back pains and its really something that bothers me specially when im at work. I have a red pillow that I use when im at the office to support my abck. the reason I have back pains is my posture and I reall try to sit properly so that it wont ache some more. When I sleep at night I dont use pillow for me head, I just lie flat on my back and it really feels so good. And another way to help me deal with back pains is i go for whole body massage, the last time I went was when I got sick and the message really helped coz I felt my whole body aching and it was really great. I plan to have another massage and would love to try the massage with sauna bath, i never tried sauna bath but according to conie and hiah that it was great so I will have to try that to treat myself.
I dont drink anything to cure the pain.

I sit on a quite uncomfortable chair when writing so that's also one cause of my backache, plus i also tend to stoop slowly. I guess i will try using a pillow for back support. The last time i had a massage was 9 months ago. How i miss getting one. And sauna? You have sauna bath services there now? Where? I know this is one great therapy for back pains and body aches. Well, i sometimes bathwith hot water or just soak in the tub filled with hot water and salt. My husband said it's good and it does relieve my back pain. It is relaxing as well. Thanks for sharing your experience Haze.

Yes, theres this new spa called la cabana spa that offer free sauna before the massage a combination of swedish and thai massage. I only tried swedish and trying the thai massage must be something exciting and its only 250 pesos with free green tea.

I am not a mother - obviously! But I do suffer from back pain and it tends to go up into my shoulder. I used heat pads and it gives me a lot of relief. I have also had reflexology (foot massage) and believe it or not, that did a lot of good, but it expensive to have it every week.

I tried reflexology before back in my country where they use a special foot machine. I also tried foot massage. But that has been more than two years ago. And yes, they really are expensive, though the foot massage costs only half a dollar in our country. These are done by trained people who work in the Catholic church. More like a mission work or something. Thanks for your response.

Make sure that you have correct position while sitting down. Swimming also helps for back pains. Having medications will help you in a short span of time. Watch your weight and avoid carrying heavy things for the moment.

The question of whether to use heat or cold for back pain centers on the condition at the time which is causing the pain.
Heat is generally used when there is stiffness in the muscles that support the spine or when there are muscle spasms. Heat helps relax the muscles, generally feels good, but does not provide a lasting benefit.
Cold is indicated when there is inflammation to the soft tissues supporting the spine. Pain is the body's way of indicating injury and inflammation. An ice wrap such as the Cold One Ice Compression Back Wrap ( http://www.coldoneinc.com/back_wrap.html ) will stop the pain and stop the inflammation when used 2 to 3 times a day for 15-20 minutes at a time.
If there is inflammation in the back, do not use heat because the increase in blood flow will increase the inflammation and delay healing.

I seldom experienced back pain but I always experience is my foot aches a lot, that is due to standing for long doing the dishes and other house hold chores. I also like walking around the house bare foot. To manage this pain, I soak my feet in a warm water with salt. as for your back pain, I think exercise will help you.

I do stretching exercises. OMG, we were just talking about exercise in another discussion. I forgot the doctor advised me to refrain from exercises that involves jumping.
