Hi cottonm. I certainly don't wish to put a downer on this situation but a friend of mine back home had a dog that kept on doing this and it ended up causing really problematic issues with the pads on the dogs feet. When they took the dog to a Vet it turns out that it was a behaviour linked to stress of all things! They made a few changes in the dog's environment and the paw licking then stopped. I am not suggesting any of this is even remotely related to your dog, but I just thought I would share it anyway.

Yes, all of mine lick and clean their paws. All of them. They love to clean their bodies and they lick their bodies keeping themselves clean. I too enjoy watching them take care of themselves.

Hmm... I don't have a pet. So I do not really know. But I know my in-law's dog love to nibble at her paws. So much so, she is constantly licking and gnawing at it. Making her paws constantly wet from her spit. Smelly! Everytime I go back to my in-laws, I will always be scolding the dog for constantly chewing at her paws. Bad habit actually.

Mine does lick her paws once in awhile. It does make me think of a cat. She also used to nibble at her nails and keep them short, but has stopped, so I have to clip them more often now. I had cats when we brought my dog home as a puppy. I have noticed that she tries to act like them sometimes. She tries to jump like they do, but her body is not as flexible, so it doesn't work out like she plans.

My dog doesn't lick his paws but he does cross them when he is lying on the floor. It is so cute.

Yeah, my dog does that too. I don't think he is stressed because he is so lazy and sleeps like lions do. I wonder if he just likes how they taste or something. They smell good!
