My mom just recently moved back to our hometown which is about 1500 miles away from me about a week ago. It's kind of difficult because we are very close and I have way younger siblings. But we talk everyday and text each other to keep connected. Also already have vacations to see each other planned.
So, do any of you live far away from your parents? Or relatives you are extremely close to? How do you deal with it and what do you do to stay connected?

My parents live in Ohio and I live in Georgia. We live just under 700 miles apart. We call each other on the phone, occasionally communicate through emails, and we try to visit one another once a year either sometime during the summer or over one of the winter holidays. They may be visiting here for Thanksgiving but, I don't know that for sure. Every other year, my hubby and I go home for Christmas to Ohio. His parents like in New York and we always go visit them in the summer and they come here a couple of times a year too.

I stay in the US and my parents and my brother stay in India. I really miss them very much as i have been touring here and there with my husband since 3 years and have hardly got some time off.I usually call them up thrice a week and chat with my brother whenever possible. I really wish to visit them in India and stay with them for long.

I live with my parents at the moment. They were in a tight spot financially and needed me to move in to help out. But before I lived here with them I lived in NY about 1300 miles away. I only saw them once in 5 years. It was very hard. But I kept in contact regularly via Phone, Mail, and E-mail.

I completely understand. I have a hard time being away from my mom and it's only been a few weeks and it's getting harder as time goes that I don't get to see them. Thanks for responding.

I live really far from my parents..And it's so hard b/c I love them a lot and am so close w/ my family. Nothing can replace my family, but I do notice that as I get older, I'm starting to create my own "family" made up of my very close friends, and what not. I talk to my parents every week and go down to see them every chance that I get.

I agree it's very hard to be away from family. I hate being so far from my mom and siblings. I live about 30 minutes from my dad so I have him still but there is nothing like a mother/daughter relationship so it's very hard to be away from her! Thanks for responding.
