Have you ever forgotten your password to your email account?

Several years ago, I forgot my password to my Yahoo email account. I tried to request the password be sent to me, but I'd forgotten the security question answers. So, they locked down my account and wouldn't let me in. It was really weird! I was never able to recover the password or login to the email account again. I lost tons of important emails. Have you ever forgotten your password to your email account or been unable to login to your email account? What did you do?

I have few email accounts and the most used are yahoo and gmail. The rest have totally disappeard from my memory. I share the same passwords for the two accounts that I frequent. This is to avoid messing up the passwords and it works fine for me and most unlikely that I can forget the password as the password is my birthdate. The lost ones need to be reapplied.

It is so smart to have a password you won't forget. Especially if email account is very important.

My old email address I have forgotten the password, I think that account has now been deleted as I'm sure they delete them if they have been inactive for so long!!! When I moved out of my mums house to Butlins, I didnt have computer access so never used my email account so forgot the password and the email address. Since setting up this email account that I have know, I haven't forgotten the password due to the fact that I use it more or less everyday!

That fortunately has not happened to me yet, but I have ever forgotten passwords to other kinds of sites. I have signed up for so many schemes and accounts that I just cannot memorize all the user IDs and passwords used. So there are times I either key in the wrong IDs and/or passwords, or I just cannot remember them totally. I am wiser now and I keep all these account information in a document somewhere for me to refer whenever I am lost. It is quite upsetting and troublesome if I make wrong guesses about passwords more a couple of times, and get my accounts locked out.

Back before Yahoo started with the ID thing I had an account but I left a job and then I tried to log in someplace else but it asked for my ID, since I didn't have one I tried to set it up but it was on their server so I never was able to get back to that account. I might try to see if its still out there because I had some good stuff on there.

Yes I lost a hotmail account that way. So now I have a word document which lists everything. I have nothing to steal so I don't worry to much about having it there.

I've never lost the password to my email acount, but I did once forget the password to a game site that I played at occasionally. I was never able to retrieve it, so had to start all over again. How frustrating! Since then, I keep account names and passwords written im a seperate place, as well as a list of friends email addresses. I keep a written log of the names and phone numbers in my cell phone too, just in case!

fortunately, never so far... i always record my login name and password for all my account in a hidden file inside my computer... so if i forgotten, i can always refer to it... i hope it will never happen to me as it will be very devastating if it happened... take care and have a nice day...

Thank God this hasn't happened to me. I usually use passwords that are close to my heart that I would rarely forget. I also write it down and keep a copy in our volt at home.

I hadn't thought to keep an offline copy of my password. That's smart!

Yes, I have forgotten a password to an account a few years back. I forgot the secruity answer also. It was very frustrating to not be able to get my emails and saved things. I need to start keeping them written down somewhere just in case this were to ever happen again.

Yes a few times but not that often I try to make my password somthing I can easily remember, and if I do happen to forget my password I just contact my internet service provider and get a new one issued.

Now a days I use gmail most prominently, but there was a time when I used something else. I just can't remember how I forgot password of that email id:$ And for more than two years I kept trying to recall the password, atleast the answer to the security question. And one day, all of a sudden, I remembered the password!! Though I had to try different spelling combinations, but at last my account got retrieved... :) First thing I did was to change my security question. LOL

Yes this has happened to me also. I also have lost passwors to few important accounts and could never recover them. Due to this I've lost about $100 also.

There were times I have forgotten my passwords but I was able to recover them. But the worst thing that ever happened to my email account was to be blocked being sure to myself that I never forgotten my password. Until this day, I was not able to open that account. I thought that account was hacked or something so I had opened another account to that email provider.

Yes, I do forget it once and that was when I was still using the Internet Explorer and I just request to Yahoo Mail to send my password that I have been forgotten but now that I do have a Mozilla Firefox i never experience it as well in the first place I always keep it open and never logged out of it and then the Firefox also have a memory so that every time I will open the site it will be sent automatically...
