Badly worded advert!

October 10, 2008 11:25am CST
I have just been on facebook and a little advert popped up on the side, it made me chuckle because i obviously read it wrong - it said "are you are parent living in the UK? We have companies who want to give you free samples for your baby" it's probably me being dopey, but to me it read that these companies wanted to give you these samples in exchange for your baby! hehe Have you ever read something wrong and completely mistunderstood what it said?! xxxx

ha ha ha ha ha... that was what I read as well when I first read what you wrote. Let's for discussion sake, how would you make the message more obvious if you were to use punctuation to correct the sentence? ha ha ha ha ha... imagine, trading your baby for some samples. ha ha ha ha ha... still gives me the chuckle when I read the sentence again.

I'm not sure it's the punctuation as much as the wording, although it could just be that we are both nuts!! I should imagine that sometimes new parents after nights of no sleep and constant crying would probably have moments when they wouldn't say no!! lol glad a made you smile!! xxx

It is!! it makes me think i should be more careful about what i write in case people read it wrong - it's be easy to upset someone without even realising it that way! xxx

lol it does sound like that lol my mate was saying the other day at the take away pizza place how they had spicy on one line of the menu and spicey right below it. She notices thinks like that all the time suppose it comes with being a lawyer it's kind of ingrained to proof read everything and iron out mistakes. For some reason i thought when i first read this that you had read an inuedno wher it shouldn't have been cos that is one i do all the time lol

haha i usually see innuendo everywhere but this just read as being really odd to me!! i always notice spelling mistakes on things it drives me mad! i once turned a job down because in the offer letter they spelled sincerely wrong, i thought there is no way that i want to work from a company where the manager either can't spell or is too lazy to proof read!! lol xxx

Lol. I can see why you would make that mistake. I once saw "How Charles I lost his head" I read the "I" as well "I" but it was 1st. How Charles the first lost his head.

well it saids free samples for your babies not free samples in exchange for your baby... sometimes it is very hard to catch up the word but if you think of it you will realize whats the meaning of it.
