My first choice is Nikon D60 because it's the lightest of Nikon DSLR cameras. It is also cheap and a very good choice for beginners like me. I like it because of its durability and Nikon is the #1 brand based on what I heard from many.
My second choice is Canon XSi Rebel. It is also light in weight and it has a live view mode. It is also affordable and there are variety of lenses that is compatible with Canon XSi.
But the two DSLR cameras are more likely the same in term of quality image. They just differ on some features.
How about you? What camera are you planning to buy?

Hi, sdas you can practice with digital cameras. That's what I did before I even used my phone to capture things. My interest in photography started when I was in college and I really waited this long for me to have my own DSLR. I waited for almost 10 years. I still don't own one but I'm planning maybe next month.
If you really have the passion in anything you will really work hard to achieve it. I know in the near future you will be a good artist.

Good luck getting your DSLR! I saved up enough money to buy my first DSLR by selling stock photos online at http://submit.shutterstock.com/?ref=2197 It only took me a couple months to earn enough from my sales!

Well, you have put up a couple of excellent first-choice cameras. Hope you achieve your goal soon, but in the meantime...keep shooting! It isn't the camera that makes the picture, it is the photographer.
The better the photographer, the less important the camera, although, paradoxically, the more they can get out of a more advanced camera. Master your current kit and you will make the best choise when you move on, because you will understand yourself, your craft and your needs so much better!
