Yes it is a coincidence.

That is entirely possible too. These things are difficult to find the truth or meaning to. It is my natural inclination, and that of many others, to immediately think there is political motive behind certain events. Yet, when I start to think about things of this nature--political events--I start to realize that my suspicions haven't been proven wrong that often in recent times.

If america is anything like australia, then it's no coincidence at all! It's amazing what happens leading up to elections, isn't it???

Yes it seriously is amazing what happens in elections. I do not know what has been going on in Australia in recent times in politics, but I do know that American politics has reached a new low...and it is very sad to see. Expecially when you think about the money these people use to "smear" eachother in commercials on TV. No longer do you win on merit, you win an election if you are seen as slightly less slimy than the competition.

hahahahahah. Well we in America are natural born cynics aren't we? Not like it is our fault though. I have a feeling politics always breed, without exception, those sentiments. Rock on.

I added a plus to your discussion topic, because it is thought provoking. As to the question: No it was no coincidence that the verdict and sentance happened when they did. Even one of the national news shows (wish I could remember which one)stated that it was scheduled to come down right before the elections. Anything for a vote, right? The politicians (Republicans in this case) want your vote and they will do anything to manipulate the result. I also have a discussion up...will you vote tomorrow? Check it out and rate mine if would please.

Yes I will be voting tomorrow. thanks for your imput. I will have to read more articles online to see what people have to say about Saddam's sentencing in Iraq. I wonder what the implications will be if Saddam does end up getting executed, which it looks like he will. But who knows, in a few weeks (well after the elections are over) we may hear some "surprising" news from Saddam's lawyers about an appeal!!

Wow, I hadn't thought about that. I really don't think it was. Considering they have been thinking about it for sometime. Although as close as the elections are in some states it will be interesting to what if any effect it will have on the outcome. Jackie13
