when you pack, are you a light packer or a heavy packer? Which do you prefer?

When you pack to go somewhere do you travel lightly or do you always pack most everything when you go ? Do you like to pack carrying one bag or do you like carrying several? My husband sayss that when I pack , the bags feel like they have lead in them lol

I usually just pack what I need b/c I don't like hauling alot of stuff around and I'm always worried I'll forget something and end up losing it. The less I take the less I have to keep track of.

Thats so true. I can understand what you mean. You always have to worry about being sure you leave with everything you brought lol and I always pack too much! Appreciate the response. Blessings and best wish's.

It would depend on where I am going, how long I will be staying and how I will be travelling. If I am travelling by plane, then I will pack as little as possible because I will be charged for excess baggage. When I go by car ferry, then I will pack everything except the kitchen sink.

Now with the extra charges, we all have to pack lighter or pay more. That means that we will get better at packing.I would rather not pay more so I know it would be an incentive to be a better packer.

What taught me a big lesson about packing lightly was when I went through six moves my friend, it doesn't get any easier and you realize just how much junk or unwanted or unused things you carry about with you! Some things I realized I hadn't used for over six months or even worn for that matter! So I decided to do a massive purge, I got rid of so much clutter, so now when I move or indeed when I travel I am a light packer, do I really need the item, am I really going to use it or wear it? The lesson works and now instead of going around like a packhorse I go around with my shoulders lightened!

I did get better on cleaning out the closets. I WILL HAVE TO WORK ON THIS ALSO. I AM WORK IN PROGRESS...LOL but I know that I do carry too much junk! Its not good for your back or anyone elses either!I see your point, moving is a real motivator to make you get rid of the extra.

I probably pack a bit too much. It's worse on short trips than on the ones that last for weeks. I've gotten better though. It is always possible to rinse out a few things really, and it is possible to make do with three or four pairs of shoes for a week

I have been trying to master the art of packing lightly for years. I met an Australian lady that is the lightest packer I have ever met. She had to wash her clothes every day and so traveling that lightly does have its draw backs. I take a bit too much I feel but the snacks I take go down as I travel around. I travel with a large backpack, a day pack and my hand bag. My large backpack weighs almost 20kg when full of my possessions but for my last trip 15kg was the airlines limit. That was challenging and my toddler didn't get an allowance. I ask my sister how many bricks she has in her hand bag in a joking sort of way.

I havent been working on it for years, but I am more aware of it now! I realised I need to lighten the loads and it sounds like many people here have already done it. Bricks is a good description of what mine feel like lol so I do know what you mean.
