I remember when I was about 10 my mother and I went to a baptist church for about two weeks. The pasture came up to my mother and I and told us if we didn't pay up more to the plate that we would have to leave because the church needed it for their bills. We were shocked to hear this, but we did leave because my mother had no money at the time, she came to church to pray for God's help, my mother is a great woman that she even sold her wedding ring to feed us children there was me, my brother and my sister. I just can't believe how some churches are these days and we keep running into bad ones with Hippocrates and people talking behind each others backs. The last church I went to had people dieing left and right in it for no apparent reason at all. Sometimes the preacher would get up and preach about someone's life and how it is a sin and that they should be punished. I love God and he knows I believe in him and that is all I need in my life. I don't have to go to church to prove that.

you are absolutely right. it seems you've run across some pretty bad churches and thats a shame. i've run across some bad and some very good, but i still dont believe you have to go to church to worship. my problem is im quite confused about them. some i believe in some parts and not other things in them. so, i worship when i want alone.

I agree with you I feel like I can become more one on one with God when I'm by myself and I don't have to worry about someone telling me that he wont hear me because they think I have to go to church for God to love me.

That is terrible that they would say that. Sometimes you just have to find a church that is right for you! He shouldnt be saying that to anyone. You never trun someone away from the church. What would God say about that. Alot of people may not have money but want to go to church.

Are you serious, you were asked to leave if you didn't pay more? That is just plain old crazy. Those type of churches you do not want to be with anyways. I don't think it is the churches that are bad. But the people running them. You always have that one person that seems like a hypocrite. Those people I tend to pray for and not judge. As you don't know what they are truly going through. I can remember reading a book years ago. In this book it told how devil worshipers would learn the bible. Know it from front to back. Join God believing churches. Than be ones to help turn people away from the church and God. If you think about it. There alot of people like that in the church. They are there but not really believing in God. But down rates people instead. I wonder if it was one of those type of people who turned your mother away when you were little? I know I have never forgot what I have read in that book. To bad I can't remember what the book was called.

I agree that it was crazy and I've been to a few churches like this not ones that make you pay more, but ones who actually preach about you in front of the whole church, but then they go home cussing and beating on his wife I know this because the last preacher I knew I was dating his son and I came over to hang out sometimes at their house. I mean the last day I went his dad (the preacher) lied to me right in church about his son being really sick and in the hospital, but he was he was at home with another girl. I found out eventually and I decided to not go back to any church because not only were they Hippocrates, but they showed it so well.

I'm not the religious type, but I believe the best church is the one you have in your home. If you have good faith you should have a strong enough one that you don't need a greedy church. A lot of churches are not very good anyway, many people are judgmental and they can expect more than you have to offer them. If you had a pregnant daughter that would spread so fast and people would say mean, hateful things, there are people like that in every church. Just a few people can make it a bad experience, it can bring the goodness of a church down, but when you are your own church and hold your own faith tightly you can be more pure and more good than any church. Some preachers should just not be preaching either and are in it for the bad reasons. It's sad that you can't pray with others without some kind of conflict of some sort.
