Hi Louisec. I have a dog named Holly. She's part beagle and part German shepherd. She's so funny. I used to have another dog - Bruno and a cat but they are no longer with us I really miss them. I love animals, especially dogs. They can be so funny to watch.

I own two mini Dachshunds and four cats. The Dachshunds are Monica and Little Bit. The cats are Murphy (for Murphy Brown and she's a female cat),Khuay (which is Thai for bashful), Willy (Khuay's brother) the three are Siamese. Then there is Dinglebeary, which is a male Maine Koon. Murphy and Dinglebeary are rescues. Murphy was tossed into a cage at the animal control but the guy who dumped her there didn't bother to latch the cage. She was only 8 weeks old and the people at the animal control were panicked about her being loose. They chased her for three days and finally caught her the day I went in to find a kitten. It was love at first sight!! When I got her out of the cage, I was warned that she was MEAN! I picked up the furry bundle and she snuggled in my neck and the rest is history. She is the grand dame` of the house. She's 14 years old. Dinglebeary was rescued three times. The last time he was locked in a 5 by 5 laundry room with his litter box and food dishes right next to each other. He had been hit quite a bit, so it was a long time getting him past being hand shy. Willy and Khuay are adopted from in front of our local Wal Mart store. They were in pretty sad condition as they were underfed, had worms and their coats were horrible. Within a couple of weeks of adoption they were fat and sassy.
I also take care of four semi feral cats. I have tamed them to a point, but they are still wild.
Monica and Little Bit were gifts from a breeder after some very difficult problems with my daughter and grand daughters. They are adult dogs, but we have bonded so securely that you would never believe that I didn't have them from puppies.
As you can see, I love animals, I am even currently taking care of my sisters pit/lab mix. She will go back to my sister in November. I can't feature living without animals in my life.

I own alot of pets. I have 4 dogs (shepherd/husky cross, blue/red heeler, and 2 papillons). 2 cats, 3 bunnies, fish, a turtle and a cockatiel. Out of all of those the shepher/husky cross was found on the side of the highway at midnight at 6 months old. The blue/red heeler was taken from a rental property after he was abandoned. The one cat was under the hood of our car and we found him. And the turtle was found wandering on my mother's front lawn. I think that once you rescue a dog, cat or any animal they love you that much more. Congrats and good luck.

I had a german shepherd that I got from a dog pound, only two days from being put down.
I had to choose between this gorgeous white poodle and the german shepherd, which was hard as both were due to be put to sleep.
I needed a dog for protection so obviously chose the german shepherd.
He became my best friend and very protective. He is gone now but lived a long and good life with me. I miss him and still have large painting of him on my lounge wall.
At 8 months old your dog will still be very playful. German shepherds need a lot of training and control.
They can be an aggressive breed and need someone in the family to be the 'alpha male' as to speak. Meaning dominant over the dog.
German shepherds are also good jumpers, so make sure you have a high fence around your yard.
Treat him right, train him properly and he will be a loyal and protective friend for life.
Enjoy

That's nice of you to take him in.
He will love you forever.
I always wished i had a big house or farm with lots of room,
I would take in all stray dogs.
