McDonald's Late Night Menu

United States

Have you ever had a craving for a Big Mac in the middle of the night? You'd think you're in luck because McDonald's is now open 24 hours, right? Wrong!!! Last night around 11:30pm we decided we wanted McDonald's. We hadn't had it in a long time, and they just started their Monopoly game again. So, hubby heads to the closest one which is about 15 minutes away. He wants the chicken nuggets, and I wanted a Big Mac. Well, half an hour later he comes through the door empty handed. Apparently McDonald's has a new late night menu, which doesn't include the Big Mac, or the chicken nuggets. It's a minimized menu of only a couple burgers and a couple chicken sandwiches. Am I the only one who thinks it's completely nuts that McDonald's doesn't serve their signature sandwich after a particular hour? Their 2 most popular items are not served during these hours. They can serve a quarter pounder, but not a big mac. I think that's just absurd!! What's the sense of being open that late when you can't get the sandwich you want? Do you think McDonald's should serve their popular items during the late night hours?

That's nuts!! I never heard of such a thing until just now. I asked my fiance and he said that our McDonalds only has 10 items for the late night menu. You're right, they should serve the most popular items not just pick and choose what they want. What about the customers?!? DUH!!!

They're ticking a lot of people off with this, and are probably going to lose customers. I've had a craving for the Big Mac since that night, so yesterday afternoon hubby decided we were going out to eat, and asked what I wanted. I said McDonald's and he made a face. Apparently they've lost our business due to their late night menu.

You're right, they probably will lose business, but it's probably easier to make the foods (according to them) that are on the menu.

Now, that is just stupid. I I worked at McDonald's in high school, so I know for a fact that it is not any more difficult to make a Big Mac than it is to make a cheeseburger. It takes about 5 seconds longer. Plus, if they have the chicken sandwiches then the fryer is still on, so not having chicken nuggets is just plain dumb.

That's what I thought too. They need to return their full menu to the late night hours. Otherwise they're just going to lose a lot of customers.

If they lose their customers then they will be paying their employees more than they are making.

Wow, I didn't know that they limited you to what you could order. Ofcourse I've never tried to order from them so late. The nearest one to us is about 20 min away. I think they should sell everything on their regular menu no matter what time it is. I also think they should serve breakfast all day lol. I love going their for breakfast. mmm i'm hungry for mcdonalds now!

I don't really see how it's hurting them by not serving the same thing all night. They have all the stuff, why not just make it?

I think they should sell what they would normally sell during the day, maybe they only sell those items because they are on a skeleton crew but they should still be able to serve the customer what they want. The nearest one to me is about 8 miles away and they stay open all night what they do is cook to order, so when I have placed my order I have to sit at the drive up longer than during the day. Which doesn't make me feel all the safe I am looking around watching to make sure no one sneaks up on me. LOL.

Well cooked to order I can understand. At least that way you know your food hasn't been sitting around for hours under a hot lamp. It's not as busy at night, so if they premade food it would just sit around and eventually be thrown away. Sure it's inconvenient to wait, especially it a bad neighborhood. But I'd be much more understanding if all I had to deal with was a wait.

How disappointing for you, I would have been OK as I only eat the chicken sandwiches anyway but my hubby would have wanted burgers so he would not have been very happy. I do not think that i have ever been to mcdonalds that late at night. I love the monopoly game though I always win food on it!

It's not often we go there that late, but we were up watching a long movie and had run out of snack food, lol.

i worked a mcdonald's and when they first went to the 24 drive throw it was full menu but when i was there we saw that we only sold chicken nuggets and big macs about once a hour thats why they must have taken them off the menu for late night.

Well that's one customer per hour that they're ticking off, and possibly losing. I guess they're not too concerned with that.

i never go to mc donald's late at night as usually i and my hubby had already asleep by then... so we don't know what menu they are serving there late at night... we usually go to bed maximum at 10.00 pm as we have to go to work pretty early the next day... and if we don't have enough rest the night before, it is really hard for both of us to wake up the next morning... take care and have a nice day...

Yes, I agree with you on that one. I will just wake up in the night and all I want is McDonalds. I didn't know they had a late night menu. Thanks for telling me.

Geez!!! Well... that s*cks!!! I know about Macs 24/7 policy but I haven't really tried getting any burger past midnight. At most I tried a drink so I wouldn't know if the same thing is the case over at my side. I suppose it makes some business sense... if they implement it this way, I suppose they might have a reason e.g. they probably readied 20 burgers of each type a night but have to dump them the next day since they spoiled when no one ordered them. I don't know and I won't make excuse for them lol... but since I am a customer, I would like to eat whatever I feel like having if a craving strikes past midnight! I do hope they at least have fries!

I think that would be a wonderful idea. I guess that they have limited staff on and cant make those burgers. i dont know why else they wouldn't serve them. It is very unforunate.

I agree, it should be the same menu, and i also think that mcdonalds should deliver!!!!! hugs Jessica

Hi katsmeow! I agree with you... my uncle once had an experience like that... they are coming late from a family trip and it's midnight already, my uncle decided to stop at McDonald's and ordered chicken nuggets, the guy at the counter also showed the menu and disappointed my uncle went home... It's a shame that they don't serve their famous manu during the graveyard shift... why can't they be consistent 24 hours? right?...

Well if they can serve all the good food in the daytime why can't they serve it at nite. I mean seriously, are their employees that lazy, not like they work theirselves to the bone.
