I have been working in the weekend sorting photocopies for students over 150 set, sorting out handouts for students with my back bent. I cannot move straight and I am in real pain. I am trying to rest and then I will continue later. What can I do besides taking two pain killers?

Oh dear welcome to the club I just hope your last less than mine. I would say firm bed (if its not then place few blankets to make it more firm. gentle masage will help a bit and dont have too much rest as it will go on forever if you dont get those bones moving.

When this happens to me I usually takes pain medication and use my big massager to help relieve some of the pain it works sometimes if not I take a long relaxing shower with the water hitting on my back or a bath.

When my back hurts, I like to go swimming, or sit in a hot bath tub, or take a hot shower. Something about the water allows me to move easier, exercise the muscles, and work the pain out. The weightlessness of being submerged in water, or the massage of a hot shower works every time.

As a veteran back sufferer I think your back is in spasm. you need to be lying flat on back on a hard surface, small pillow under head. both legs bent, feet flat on floor, then stretch out one leg, say the left one, keep right leg bent and try to put the knee over the left leg while you keep both shoulders on the floor. Do this very slowly and don't push it. then put both legs straight on floor and try the other leg, ie right one with left knee bent. this should help reduce the spasm. next lay flat, bring both legs knees bent to chest and rock side to side.
then keeping knees bend cross ankles and rock side to side. do these until spasm relaxes. Make sure there is someone there to help you up. You can take a pain killer but if you don't stop the spasm it will still hurt when it wears off. The main thing is don't push it. take you time. Then you will have to get some exercise to bring strength back to that area. I suggest Yoga. Good luck PM me if you need more help

You should see the doctor and get some pain killers. But moreover, ask for his advice on how to cure it and strictly follow it, no matter how painful it would be or how much time it takes. I think physical exercise would be of great help, and massage too.
There is a therapy in traditional Chinese medicine named cupping, which is taken by many Chinese as a cure. It relieves the pain immediately without any negative impact. Perhaps you can have a try when you get the chance:)

Alternate ice and heat on the sore area. Ten minutes of one, then take it off awhile then ten minutes of the other. Do some stretching exercises, if possible, and then also take a hot shower or bath. I hope you get to feeling better soon. You should take breaks in a project like that, and stretch some.

either apply heat or cold to the area, do some exercises where you strengthen your back but resting it against a wall.

Have you tried using a heating pad on your back? Just lay on your back, and put a heating pad under you with your knees up, do that for 20 mins. at a time. Last year I was having back pain, and thats what my doctor had me do, some will tell you to use a cold pack, but he said to use heat instead, it helps take the stiffness out. Hope that helps some....Good luck

Hi ronaldinu,
I have suffered fro bad back as well and been to the doctors about it, she showed me a good exercise and you will not need to take pain killers. First you lie down on the floor on your back, the lift your right leg towards you left shoulders as far it goes and hold, count to 30 and relax repeat it with your left legs and relax. then still lying on the floor go on your side with both legs bending lie on right side strietch you righ arms across to your left, so your body is twisting and count 30, then repeat withon you right side, I hope ut will help as much as it did me, no need for pills, keep up the exercise every day, you will feel the results.

Well ronaldinu, Once you are in pain the best thing that you
can do for the back is use heat. A heating pad is good if
you have one. If you don't have one they sell heat pads that
you can place in a microwave and warm up to put on the spot
where you have the most pain. Also, what you need to do is
to lie down and not move. Rest is also the best thing for
back pain. The less movement the better until your back has
time to settle and heal. Bending over in the wrong postition
is one of the worst things that we can do and that can cause
the back to strain and therefore cause pain from being in
the wrong position for a lengthy period of time.

Maybe take a hot bath unless you have a jacuzzi to sit in.

Herbal oils are also very good. Are there shops where you live selling herbal medicines ? Take advice from the shop in selecting the right oil. Use it like an ointment. That can be very helpful. I am so sorry to hear about that. I wish you will be better soonest !

Ginger is very good for muscle aches, spasms and such. If you can get hold of some ginger capsules or eat some in food, it will probably help. I take the capsules and they work great for me.
Otherwise, alternating heat and cold in fifteen minute intervals will help.
Tylenol or aspirin is also good. I hope you feel better soon!

My best suggestion is to go see a Chiropractor. You have likely gotten your spine all out of alignment. A Chiropractor would be able to get your back back into alignment. Other than that, perhaps lie down with an ice pack to get some of the inflammation down. That will help with some of the pain.

hi ronaldinu, do u already go to your doctor or any check up before you use any kind of pain killers..i think you need to ask your doctor, if pain killers can't remove the pain maybe you need to take some medicine for it...and by the way i'm also curious when it get started? or i mean before sorting projects/things like that with back bents do u already feel pain before that happen?? my husband also feel back pain and sometimes he said that his feet feels like it has heavy tons, do you also feel that??? he go for check up but the doctor said its because he gain to much weight and the doctor ask him to diet, the doctor give him a medicine , a high grams, he just take it if feels too much pain...
