Are you a patient person at heart? Or, do certain things get up your nose?

I would describe myself as a patient sort of person and I don't become irate any longer about petty issues! I used to though, to the extent that I was literally pulling my hair out! They say that patience is a virtue! Do you agree with this statement? What situations do you find yourself in that tend to make you less patient? Are you forever grinding your teeth in dismay? As I said, I'm a patient sort of person now and I don't try to rush from A to B and I'm certainly not and never will be a part of the rat race! How patient are you? What's your technique? Andrew

Hi there! I believe in the saying that patience is a virtue because being patient can save you from sinning. If you're a patient person you have the ability to control your anger and therefore can't make revenge to the person doing bad things to you. I think it also has something to do with religion. Having a lot of patience in waiting for our prayers to be answered also means having faith in God. It is hard to wait for something that we don't know if its going to manifest or not. I am a generally a patient person. I don't rush for things to happen.I believe there is a right time for everything and I take every step that has to be done in order to reach my goal. I also don't easily get mad. Maybe that's why in my whole life I've never had any confrontations with anybody. I never had any enemies in my dealings with other people. Though I may have debated with someone but, it's just an exchange of views. Ciao!

It sounds like you do something that really works for you and that is great. I think I'm a little like you myself. I have never had any confrontations with anyone and yes, I like the occasional debate, exchange of views and so forth. I love being calm and patient and it definitely works for me. You can breathe far easier too I think. Anyway, thanks. Andrew

Thank you for the tip, Andrew, really appreciate it. I am taking one thing at a time though but because of the trend of the times now, that everything is so high tech, then, there are times that i want to get things done as fast as i can. But i do know that there is the right time for everything in life. I hope to find the bliss of calm and tranquility of life. Wish you the same, my friend!

Well, for me, it truly depends on the situation, and what is going on in my life as well. I know a lot of times, when I am under any undue stress, or major Financial things going on in my life, or maybe other Health issues as well, I can be quite impatient sometimes, but for the most part I find myself easy going, and find most people enjoy being around and talking to me as well.

That's really a good sign when you notice others want to be around you and they feel at ease. I think when someone is not very patient at times, they can be hard to get along with. The circumstances of life, they can really put you to the test! I have been tested on numerous occasions and thankfully I have always remained calm and collected. Thanks. Andrew

I can teach you patience right now Just close your eyes and picture yourself sitting in a garden of peace with the sun shining on your face. Take some deep breaths and I'm really sure that this will do the trick for you. Patience is a lovely idea although it can be very hard to put in practice! Still, I am as patient as I can be I guess. Happy My lotting. Andrew

I think i'm quite a patient person, at work there's a lot of people who either can't or don't want to understand what is being said to them and then there are others who are just plain awkward, i always manage to keep my cool with them. Sometime i have to take a deep breath and feel like going into the stre cupboard and screaming but i tend to control myself! I lose my temper when i am driving quite a lot though! I have been in a couple of nasty car accidents and both have been caused my people who were driving dangerously, so i get really mad when people don't drive sensibly - as well as when people drive at 15mph in a 30 or 40 limit - why!?!?!?!? lol xxxx

Hi Munchkin, It's nice to have another conversation with you! It sounds like you are inundated with those unfortunate situations at work! Thankfully, I'm out of the lime light and so I guess it's easier for me to remain calm and patient. I envy you! I don't even know how to drive yet, can you believe this! I don't know how I will handle that situation once I start learning to drive, I hope that I can remain as patient as I am now. You have a good sense of humour anyhow so it's hard for me to picture you getting worked up! Speak to you again soon! As you see, I'm only creating a new discussion every now and then. Happy My Lotting. Andrew

patience should be a virtue but i dont think alot of people dont use it. I think some people r afraid of it cuz they dont like to wait cuz if they get to old they cant never achieve it. I waited to long on things i wanted and no i cant achieve what ive longed for forever and now i pay for it everyday.

I understand about the waiting process! It is difficult to remain patient at the best of times, especially when there is something that you really want. I'm an easy going kind of guy though and I don't feel that my patience is ever really being put to the test. Happy My Lotting. Andrew

i don't think so... patience is one of the character that i don't have and i always like to rush for things and do things as fast as i can... but nowadays, i try to cut down this bad habit by slowing down a bit, take a deep breathe and try to enjoy my life a little bit... i try to build up my patience day by day which is not easy because of my trait... i can't eliminate my impatienceness... but i can reduce it... take care and have a nice day...

I guess it depends on the situation. If I'm in a long line at the grocery store, well I wait it out with the rest of them. If I'm trying to pick up a script and the workers are all huddled in the back gabbing, I get irritated. If I'm stuck behind a little old woman that is counting out her change one at a time...I just suck it up and deal with it...afterall that may be me one day. If I'm in a drive thru and the person ahead is talking, laughing, and horseplaying with the worker I get ticked off. ~~IN SEARCH OF PEACE WITHIN~~ **AGAINST THE STORMS, I WILL STAND STRONG**

It sounds like you have a good game plan there! Patience is such a difficult thing for so many people though. I guess humour can help with this, i.e. standing in the supermarket queue! Anyway, there's a lot of the horseplaying thing that goes on in these so called queues! They sometimes seem to be having a whale of a time! Happy My Lotting. Andrew

Hello Andrew. I think I'm patient to the point that my laid back attitude give off a negative persona of not really caring. It's strange, I've witnessed it to the extent that I am misunderstood for so many things that being patient is hard to constructively deal with it. However, it seems it's the only way to go because so many are eager to get under your skin and secretly get into you to annoy, it's become a pleasure just to torture. I don't know why. I know that I don't really care and in the end who am I to them that makes me important? It's an attitude I know but it has helped me understand, I am who I am. Love it or leave it as they say. Can you say girl power? LoL jk But as I read somewhere, patience is A virtue not THE virtue. Cheers!

I too am patient and I understand what you mean when you say that this is interpreted as not really caring! However, it doesn't matter what others think does it? I guess as long as you are doing what is right for you, i.e. being patient and doing what works for you, then this is ok. There is a lot of misunderstanding in the world. Happy My Lotting Andrew

I am generally a very patient person and it takes alot to get me to the breaking point. But somethings that can do that to me are talking to people on the phone like tech support. I have had to call for my cell phone a few times and have it fixed over the phone and man the stupidity of some people! Also rude people at stores get under my skin like when your in the check stand line and it's taking forever as it is but then you got someone behind you breathing down your neck like it's your fault or if they get closer to you then the line will go faster! I think the grocery store or stores in general are a big patience tester! LOL

I definitely know about those phone calls! They are a real irritation! Thankfully, my patience isn't tested that much these days so I tend to be a whole lot calmer! The infamous neck breather! I'm familiar with that too, it's always a bad thing at the checkout queues! Anyway, life goes on I guess and I continue to practice the art of patience! Andrew

I can say that i am patient too. Before i used to be less patient but through the years as we age i think we kind of mellow gradually. So, now i can say that i have grown more patient with almost everything. Yes, i believe that patience is a virtue. what tends to make me less patient is when i can't get somethings right. Like, when i am set to do some projects in the house and i can't get it done, then i might be less patient. I don't have a technique in keeping my patience, but i can say that i am a very patient person.

I too am into this mellowing out thing! I am very patient myself. Here's a tip for you though, this is what I use at least, I only concentrate on doing one thing at a time, this way I'm not taking on too much and therefore it's far easier for me to remain calm. Well, happy my lotting I guess and may you experience the bliss of calm and tranquility. Andrew

Yes I used to be but now I really find it hard because of the things that has been happening around me. I am patient in making decisions but now I find it hard to be patient when dealing with not so nice situations. Yes patience is a virtue but we have to know when it should end and when should we fight back. Sometimes people would use our patience to their advantage and in the process it is us patient people who will suffer. I am patient but don't test it- That I think is my secret.

I think I'm in agreement with you as regards certain people taking advantage of you when you are patient! I tend to steer clear of these character types! I guess it's more difficult for you when you are quite busy and you have so many different things going on. I try not to fill my life up too much. I only concentrate on one thing at a time and so I guess it's far easier for me to remain patient and calm. I also agree that we should fight back, especially when we really believe in something. Anyway, happy my lotting, stay calm!! Andrew

i could not say that i am person that is so patient. but i can say that i'm patient mostly. but still there are times that i do get impatient but only happens very rarely. i can wait for things or line up in queu without getting bored or angry. or to put up with irritating people. but there is also i point that i have enough of things or people . but i try my best to understand people and things. sometimes my top will just blow up. and i will try my best not to be get irritated on the same thing. i wanted to be more patient on things that irritated me once.

I guess that patience will come with time. I'm 33 years of age now and I have started mellowing out and it feels kind of nice! I don't become over-excited at external irritations anymore. I just try to take it easy and relax. Good luck with your patience anyhow and happy my lotting. Andrew

Hi Andrew. I am generally a relatively patient person these days but it all is in direct relation of my tolerance levels as well. I always start out as patient but if I start facing more of the same over and over again with something or from someone then my tolerance levels drop considerably and of course my ability to patient disappears pretty quickly. As for patience being a virtue, theoretically speaking I can agree with this statement but as per usual there are always so many factors to take into consideration so it is not always valid!

Hi James, Yes, I guess I agree with you there. Thankfully, I have chosen not to take on too much at one time and so, I'm concentrating all my efforts into getting one thing done at a time and therefore my patience remains intact. I've not experienced any serious hurdles in life that have really tested my patience, no doubt that time will eventually arrive and I will face the ultimate test! Goodluck with your discussions and I will speak to you soon. Andrew
