LOl..well not sick but I did run a scan because I was getting a lot of messages and pop ups telling me that I had to check my computer. Since I am not the most computer wise person in the world I ignored it for a while and then my younger brother ran a scan it turns out I had about 300 threats and a trojan virus and I dont even know what else!..LOL But yeah I wasnt able to use my computer for a couple of days until I had someone look at it and they used spyware doctor and everything is good now. What I was wondering is what do you use to keep your computer clean? Is it expensive? THANKS!!

There are several good free anti-virus spyware and firewalls out there for personal computers. If you can't afford them and don't want to spend the money on expensive security, then please use the free ones. There are just too many threats to our computers out there today!

I am so sorry, should have put a few down. For firewalls (these are all free to use for PERSONAL use only!), I use Zone Alarm and it is my favorite. It is easy to use and understand and I have used it for many years with good luck.you will find it at www.zonelabs.com Another good one that I have used (on my lap top that had a program that didn't work well with zone alarm) is Outpost at www.agnitum.com And if you happen to have a 64bit computer this is one that works well with those at www.personalfirewall.comodo.com Good luck to you!

the best way to avoid the spyware or any virus is by using original antivirus.i dont think it is that expensive.it could be purchase for a few bucks.i personally using kaspersky internet security and i admit it is quiet satisfaction.it really help me preventing from any virus affection.to assist the antivirus i also used tune up utilities.there so much thing could be done using the program.try it.it could give you satisfaction as what i enjoyed.

Yes I have found that the moret I surf the web the more junk I get attached to my computer. We have Zone and it runs every two or three days and always finds things. My feeling is the reason I have a computer is to access the internet so I need good security to maintain my machine.

I'm currently using Spybot Search & Destroy (which is truly a blessing! and free too!!!) for clearing out spywares, and Norton for viruses.. I'm trying to find a replacement for this stupid norton though, it uses up waaay too much memory capacity (making the computer run too slow while scanning, and makes start up/shut down way too long), and most of the virus threats that pop out it can't really do anything about them and I have to do everything myself manually! What a useless piece of scrap -w- anyone can recommend a good (and free) antivirus? o.o

I use 1)AVG 8 for anti-virus scans. Fantastic software. Never had a virus since I started using it. The previous McAffee was not so good and used to slow down the PC:/ www.grisoft.com 2)Spybot S&D for anti-spyware/malware scans. Free and excellent. www.safer-networking.org/index2.html 3)Opera for browsing. Faster, more customizable, and more secure than internet explorer. www.opera.com 4) Diskeeper 2008 for disk defragmenting. Keeps the files on the hard drive nicely defragmented and disk performance at it's optimum. All automatically and in the background! Awesome defragmenter. www.diskeeper.com

From what you said, your computer is really sick. It’s good that you called someone to have it fix. It’s hard to maintain a computer much more to repair it. I always scan my computer for viruses and bugs. It is much better to caught it early before it can affect files on my computer. I also update my anti virus software. It is advisable to always update virus software to be protect for new threats. Using internet often can get your computer a virus. Transferring of files from one computer to another spread the virus. Always scan the flash disk, floppy disk or cd before you open it.
