Help! I'm Going Nuts...LOL

Caught your attention? Heehee. Okay how many times do you feel well a bit overwhelmed at and over the different tasks and jobs you might be involved with? I have to admit, for awhile now, I was kind of in the doldrums...while I tend to write a lot of articles for AC, sometimes Helium and occasionally in a blue moon, for Gather, then have my novel I dabbled at and my photo work that I do, I was in a slow period..believe it or not...LOL Then of course my meanderings here at MyLot. I was particularly having a sort of writer's block when it came to ideas for new articles for AC. Ah....but then came a new writing "gig" and if you're wondering why I'm not as active here it's because I'm on like rapid fire with all these ideas and reviews for this other place. The thing is....I'm driving myself NUTS big time...When I do come here I try to first answer the responders to my own discussions, and slowly but surely I think I'm getting there. I also try to answer my friend's discussions as well...again slowly but surely, so please, please have patience with me if I haven't gotten to your discussions yet...but juggling this, juggling that and trying to find time to do a bit of everything everyday is driving me daft...LOL..what can I say? You're looking at an EXTREME overachiever here and I always have been. This new writing gig is proving a miracle for me and a great way for me to make badly needed extra money, now that my lovely bills have been rising (still disputing my CONed electric bills as I think they owe me a refund/credit big time and still haven't done so) So how do you folks manage? I'm thankful that I don't have the additional concerns of raising a family..just my two furbabies...but how do you folks manage to find the time to juggle everything...not just extra money opportunities, but everyday mundane things, like taking care of family affairs, cleaning, cooking, without going a tad ko-ko? And yes I do everyday cleaning chores I need to do as well This inquiring mind wants to know

No wonder I'm an underachiever... you're not only fulfilling your own potential, but mine too, and probably a few other people's as well. Take a rest!

I do not like to have so much to do that I feel overwhelmed and verging on a breakdown. Nor do I like to have so little to do that I am mind-numbingly bored and headed for trouble. I like to have just enough to do that I am pleasantly occupied with plenty of time to enjoy my pleasant occupations at a leisurely pace, with only occasional spurts of high activity.

Well Mr. Swhomp, sadly, my pleasant occupations do not currently involve goats, nor often any people. Like today... I was hard-pressed to get the lawn mowed, 2 more compost piles started, and the path around the strawberry patch mulched, (which the cows on the other side of the fence keep eating). I only had two hours to do it in too, because I had been all day at my computer answering lengthy emails and catching up at MyLot. Man the sweat was flying off me like a character in a comic strip! And I didn't need the exercise either, since I had already had a nice jog by the river and done an hours worth of yoga. I didn't get around to washing any dishes, that will have to wait till tomorrow. On the other hand, I have another lawn to mow, 2 posts to paint, and more strawberry patch path to mulch, so those dishes might have to wait a little bit longer to get washed. Fortunately I have cupboards full of clean ones so it is no hardship.

pye you are a busy p erson, i envy you as I love to write too.As for how i manage cleaning, I really dont much as I have one and ahalf arms, my left shoulder I smashed three years ago and had to have a bionic part put in, well now bionics dont work as well as human parts, hence I cannot lift my left arm up like I used to. try sweeping and mopping with just one and a half arms, its not easy. I can cook easily but so many things i use to use my left arm for I cannot do anymore.but I do cope anyway. I had all thje physical therapy bit but it reallydid not help much.

Oh it is tough trying to get everything done in one day. My husband and I don't have kids but we do have animal children, 10 of them actually. 6 dogs and 4 cats plus I write for more than one website, post in my many blogs, and I have to clean house everyday. I can't tell you how I do it because I don't get everything done when I want to. I do get the most important things done first like writing articles for the higher paying sites, take care of my household and my animal children. It is not easy at all and sometimes I feel like I am going crazy! Good luck with all you do. :)

Yeah having all of my animal children does seem like a full time job. It's just like having children, only easier. Of course I don't have human children so I don't really know if it is easier to have animal children but I have been babysitting for a long time for different people and I think animals are easier, lol. Sometimes I feel like I want to rip my hair out because of all of my animal children but I love them all and wouldn't give them up for anything. As a matter of fact, I have a blog on today.com where I write from my pets point of view. I have just gotten back online after almost a month of not having internet access so there are only a few posts but I plan on updating it tonight. Here is the link if you would like to take a look: http://mypets.today.com

Speaking about writing..I haven't been at that forum in awhile..LOL...might pop by later...it's a great place to find out about higher paying writing "gigs" as I call them. I don't have human children either, but my two kitties...yikes how do you manage with 6 dogs and 4 cats? That would seem almost a full time job in itself

Lol, I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed myself lately. See we've just moved to a new house, I'm going working on the early beginnings of what I hope to turn into a business (growing organic food. Which means digging up the beds, working on the compost while I can, planting the seeds that need to be planted in the autumn, getting plants that must be planted in the winter or grown indoors), looking into little things I can do on the side like plarn woven things and other stuff I can make with my hands for relatively low costs for profit, planning on what I'm selling at flea markets this year, looking after my pets -- preparing for a new pet, on top of household chores...preparing for starting my education back up, research on most of this stuff, plus trying to keep in touch with my friends...find the motivation to update my journal and get back to writing/editing my latest series of books...ALL THE WHILE keeping my political blog fairly updated and trying to earn money here and elsewhere. *takes a deep breath* *coughs* So, as you can very well see...I've quite alot on my plate right now, and I don't expect it to lessen very much as time wears by! I can relate, Pye! lol. How do I manage? Well, I've been an extreme multitasker for as long as I can remember...I'm sortof a workaholic...and I'm now sleeping more. Plus I enjoy most of these things. The key is to remember to breathe, to stop and just...be for a few moments of everyday. To take time to enjoy the little things, like a meal...or a nice warm shower. If I could assign additional tasks to family members, I certainly would...but unfortunately, in this intitial stage of development, I can only do that in very small ways now, and the only thing that'll probably save me, is that I'll be able to do that much more later. Actually...thinking about it all, I don't know how I even do it. I barely do it all...*pauses* some would find it kind of depressing really, lol. But it's how I stay feeling alive.

Aww, I kinda wish I was near you -- it'd be awesome to know I'd have at least one sale to start with heh. I will put some candied flowers and dried foods on ebay (for as long as I can get away with it, anyways) but that's not as good as fresh, I think. ^_^' There's alot of fun in being busy! Though it's overwhelming. I guess love of work starts young with folks, huh? I mean it seems to be a pattern. Well, luck handling all your projects, Pye. I hope you find some time to relax soon.

LOL--yep, I'm a definite workaholic as well. That's wonderful though about you moving into a new place and planning to grow and sell organic foods....too bad I don't live closer to you..I'd be your first customer...LOL I've been a multi-tasker since college days as well...and looking back I wonder how I did it all..Most terms I took an average 16 credits and one term 21...yikes..and I practically lived in the theatre of the college as I was involved with scenic design for the plays presented there.

Hmm, not well? lol. I try to do the best I can. Right now I am unemployed as we have moved to a new area for hubby's new job. And I am slowly unpacking our stuff. I don't clean as much as I should--I hope to be better at it in the new place. And I hope to cook more--hmm not sure how I am gonna get all this stuff done. And if I get a job? ah well you do what you can and let the rest go.

I could stand to do a real thorough cleaning again...not that the place looks like a mess...but go through the closets and see if there is anything I can throw out again, the drawers of my two bureaus where I store a lot of papers. Sort of like a fall cleaning thing

I have learned my breaking point and cannot go any further so I go until I cannot go any longer. I tend to let the house go most of the time. It is not really bad, right now the floors need loads of tending to but I will do them when I am through canning. I sit and rest between the things I can do and what needs to be one. When I am resting I will be on the computer writing. that is one way to juggle my day.

I tend to let my apartment go as well, not that it's dirty or messy...thankfully I'm very organized so my place never looks like a tornado came through it...LOL. Have to admit though I'm getting that hankering to do a thorough "fall" cleaning thing to get rid of things I just don't want or need anymore..

Hello, pyewacket. Hmm... You're going nuts? That's certainly not healthy for you. Look, I don't think you can consider me a busy person. I wake up at 06:00 in the morning, and I go to school... I stay the whole morning, and in the afternoon I have ANOTHER school, in which I study tourism. So, it's like any regular student, but twice as busy as them. I get home at around 19:00, which means I am almost never at home. I sleep at 22:00, usually, so I don't have much time to do my homework and all the things and keep here in myLot. I also have to train my guitar skills, because I have classes on the Saturday morning. Well, my life isn't pretty busy, but it certainly is more busy than most of the 16's you'll find there. And I don't get nuts. I just relax, I don't hurry up in anything. Never, and I mean never, try to make things in a hurry. Just relax. If there is not enough time, then rushing it won't make any difference. You still will lack time. Just enjoy everything you do, don't let your problems play the biggest role in your life. Instead, you can find solutions and work on them. It always make you feel better. Respectfully, Munhozmib.

Wow!! Your schedule makes me tired just reading it. LOL But I know the feeling. Right now I'm overwhelmed with several things. Two biggest are money - I am so broke and no money to pay the bills with. I'm not sure what I'm going to do there. Maybe call the electric company(and everyone else)and say hey, can I just skip paying you this month? LOL Then there is my upcoming move. I have boxes and stacks of things everywhere. Its reaching the point where I can barely navigate. Matter of fact I'm getting ready to go out on my screen room and rearrange all the boxes stacked there to make room for more. My living room looks like the closets all exploded. And all I want to do is take a nap. Adding to that is its still hot as hell down here and even with the AC inside I can't stay cool with all this stuff to do. Not to mention when I go outside to try and breathe. As for answers for you... sounds like you are managing much better than most of us. LOL Maybe lists? I'm a HUGE fan of lists and checking them off as I go.

LOL--I'm a notorious list maker..actually have three lists...The last few days of the month I plot out what general things I want to accomplish for the next month...then on each Sunday night, I make a list of what I hope to accomplish for the week, and each night, a list of things I hope to do the next day....but I still sure wish I had at least 60 hours a day to do everything...Heehee. The electric companies are such pains in the "a"...I'm still disputing my past few months bills as I know I was overcharged..the bills were estimates and not actual meter readings..hope you get things settled out

What I can't figure out...when I was in college I had a real hectic schedule...often taking at least 16-credits each term, tons of reading material, term papers, spending my time at the scenic design dept of the theatre (practically lived there) ...and yet I still had a "social life"---for some reason I feel I'm not doing as much yet never get all I want done..

Hi pye, Great that you are keeping yourselfe so busy with your writing and copeing with everything else that is going on in your life, as for me, Mylot keeps me busy and my husband, I am so glad that he has gone to work so that I can be lefte in peace with my babies too. When my husband is at home, he drives me up the wall, as soon as I clean the carpet, he will dirty with black grease from his bicycles and the bathroom is in a mess, so as soon as he is gone I have to tackle the hoouse housework, so its nice to just sit down and get stuck into Mylot. Bright Blessings Tamara

Yeah I know what you mean. Sometimes it can feel as though things are getting the better of you all the time, and I know that it isn't particularly nice. Whenever I feel like that, I take a step back and think 'ok, which is the most important thing that I should be doing' and I will do that first, then take things in order or importance step by step. You will get things done a lot faster if you only think about one thing at a time.

Well, I'm a bit OCD so I get overwhelmed fairly easily. If I get too overwhelmed my brain shuts down. LIke, if more than one room in my house is messy, my husband has to help me get started with cleaning or I cannot do it. It seems that I just get really frazzled and I look around and my mind goes blank, my bp goes up, I get a little light headed and have a serious freak out. It's very difficult to deal with sometimes and I don't like it but it's something that my husband and I have learned to deal with. I have tried different medications and they have helped a little but I still shut down with multiple sources of stress.

I'm great at making lists to help me figure out what to do as far as big projects with cleaning or actual any project...it gives me kind of a strategy of how to go about things then I don't feel so overwhelmed...also I never tackle momentous cleaning projects all in one day, but stretch it out a bit...so as not to be too overwhelming.

Your reaction to life is only expected from an over achiever like yourself. Map out what you expect in a given and only achieve that much. Maybe you are overwhelming yourself with an over work load. Omit one thing at a time til your list is you day can be managed successfully. Put your task in order and set to work Pick up tomorrow where you left off today..Just remember tomorrow will come bright and early. Do most important things first and on down the line. Slowing down the mind and working hard also is a big help. Life is overwhelming so we must be extra cautious not to over load out brains. They could blow up and then where would we be. Blowing our minds right out of our ears would only make us nutter than ever. Slow down look at your plate. Only eat the best pickings.
