Here in the Philippines, the means of communication is mainly through text messaging. Filipinos seemed to have loved communicating through texting. I guess the title really suits us THE TEXT MESSAGING CAPITAL OF THE WORLD. Luckily, the service providers come up with the unlimited text messaging. Gone are the days where 1 text - 1PHP or $.022. All the more Filipinos enjoyed texting. Some could actually send more than a hundred text message in one day. Oooppp! I'm guilty of that. hehehe.
Since we are talking about text messaging, I would like to know how fast can you send a text message using your cellular phone? How many messages can you send in a day? Do you like to forward jokes? Well, I'm not really a pro but I could actually reply to a text message between 2-5 minutes. The most I did in a day was nearly 200 text messages. I do forward jokes too. hehehe. What about you??? Care to share?

Messaging very fast is a skill which you can develop as and by experiance. When initially started my text messaging i was too slow like a tortoise. Within two to three weeks i gained a lot of speed and now i can do lot more than i was doing it before. All this comes only by practice. I always beleive in " Practice makes a man Perfect". So if some one is slow then the only way to become fast in typing is by practice only.

I agree parthieie! Practice makes perfect! I think I'm happy with my text messaging speed now although I am nothing compared to other members who posted here. They can reply a text message within 10-15 seconds. Oh! I'm not like that. It usually takes me between 2-5 minutes to reply to a text message. I even timed myself. hehehe. Anyway, thanks for sharing your thoughts parthieie. God Bless you!

I was pretty quick from the get go. I began on abc, but it took forever to send messages. I can now send messages on word in my pocket without looking as long as I don't go too fast (as my phone is very slow) and they are no numbers involved in the message. It's really a pretty convenient way to communicate with friends and even family.

Hello red_amethyst,
Are you using globe? If you are you can still subscribe to the unlimited texting. You will only be able to use it after your free texts has been consumed. I used to have a postpaid line with globe and I was able to use the unlimited texting promo. I'm not aware though, with smart. I'm not sure if they offer unlimited texting for postpaid lines. Unlimited texting helps a lot really. You should make use of it while it's still available. Happy posting!!!

Oh too bad.you really have to control yourself on texting too much. But 20 - 30 messages a day is still a lot. It will cost you 600 PHP for 20 messages per day in 30 days. That is just texting alone. What about calls, MMS and some other features you're using. Yikes!

Your text messaging habit is very close to mine hadi81. I send around 60 to 70 messages per day. Most of them are important messages to either my co-workers or my clients. It is a necessity in my job as I work in the field. I type at a speed of 38 words per minute in a computer using just a few of my fingers. I never learned typing really. Thanks for dropping by. God bless you!

i definitely understand what you mean.. well, i dont do shortcut words too, i miss out some vowels but not all of them!hahaha i want my text to be understood by the person who will be reading it.. and honestly i get annoyed when people do so much shortcuts and abrreviations that their message becomes ununderstandable.. you know what i mean..

Hi austere, I wish I can send a text message in a jiffy too. But I have to consider my words since most of my textmates are my co-workers and my clients. I rarely use those shortcut words we use in texting here because I'm talking to doctors most of the time. I always need to be professional. Thanks for posting here! GOD Bless You!

Well I am not sure how fast does it take me to send a text message, but I do believe that sometimes I can send on a day 20 to 30 text messages.
I average 1000 text messages per month, and sometimes more like last month, I went over my 1000 text bundle.
There is a 100 text messages sent and received in my cell right now from the last three days.
So that is me in text messaging

Great! I think that's the average text messages in a day. I usually text just about around that when unlimited texting is not available. But now that unlimited texting is available here in the Philippines, my average went up between 60 to 70 text messages per day. Thanks for your response. God bless you!

We have also unlimited text messaging but that is 20 per month.
With Virgin Mobile if one has a prepaid plan then the 1000 text bundles or unlimited can be half price.(There are smaller text bundles but I am not sure if it applies to them)
Right now I have a prepaid plan and I paid 5 bucks for a 1000 text messages per month.
I only text to a small group of persons, if I could text or did need the texts more I would pay 10 dollars for unlimited but I really do not need it.

Yah, thanks to those unlimited text, all text, sulit text features of our mobile phone networks in the Philippines. This made me send text messages of more than 100 a day for a very affordable rate.
Though I am guilty also for sending unimportant messages, its like wasting money but its how things works as far as texting in the Philipines is concern. At least it gets people connected anytime, anywhere always...

You sounded like you're actually promoting them. hehehe... I, too am guilty of sending text messages that are not important. I wanted to make the most out of the promo. But I cannot send more than a hundred a day. Although, there was one instance that I was able to send 125 text messages to one person in a span of two hours. Thanks for posting. God bless you!

I write very fast whether its computer keyboard or mobile phone. But nowadays I stopped sending messages as it is not free now. :) But I do use to send a lot of messages more than 100 but I didnt count though. I use to type more than 3 pages of messages at a time and send it and continued message follows. hmmm.
I would have typed a joke or edit a joke and send it but forwarded a joke as it is sometimes.

Nice! Fast typing in both text messaging and keyboard, cool! Some people have talents in this stuffs. I think I'm just an average texter with an average speed. I do forward jokes sometimes too if it is really very funny. Lucky for us Filipinos, we are enjoying the unlimited text messaging here in the Philippines in just a fraction of the cost. Thanks for posting mstriguna. God bless you!

Now that's a talent really. I can text without looking at my phone but I doubt if I can text with my eyes closed. It feels like I'm really blinding myself. At least when you're not looking at your phone somehow you know where your hands are and the brain perceives it, like looking at peripherals but eyes closed? That's talent. Thanks for sharing sumiirajj. Take care! God bless you!

I've been texting for a few years now and consider myself pretty good at it. Boy was i wrong. My 20 year old niece came over a couple of weeks ago and she was testing without even looking at the darn phone. It was amazing because all the words came out correctly spelled and everything. Some people just have it in them.

So true! I myself have been texting for almost 1/3 of my life but still I'm nothing like that of your niece. I don't use texts words often, I still type the correct spelling. I have this fear that I might get used to it and type texts words in my paper works. That would be embarrassing. Thanks for sharing your experience dookie03. God bless you!

Same here! I don't use my phone to forward jokes to my friends; although sometimes I do too, especially when I think it's really very funny. I usually text message my co workers and most of the time our clients. Thanks for dropping by. God bless you!

Hello Kabayan, I agree with you, one of the hobbies of Filipinos is to send text messages. They are sending forwarded quotes as much as they can for a day. Specially when registered to unlimited or alltext. But personally I just send only importnat messages to my friends and love ones, I'm tired of forwarding jokes or quotes to them every now and then. I think I can send about 5-10 a day.

Really? Wow! saves you the energy and the amount of credits you would have to use in a day. I don't usually forward jokes too. I only send important text messages to my co-workers and clients most of the time. Although I sometimes forward some really funny jokes every once in a while, too. Have a great day kabayan! God Bless you!

I usually reply in around 30 seconds. I can type extremely fast, but my phone is a pretty old model and is pretty slow so it cannot keep up with me sometimes. If a message is overly long, it will take me longer than a minute, but I'm usually pretty quick, especially in class.

Oh now this is interesting lol
I send a huge amount of txt a day, I´m a typical Finn there, we also use txt as a main mean of communication - fast and easy. Text messages are very convenient, they do not bother you as much as getting a phonecall in the middle of an important meeting. It does not take me no time at all to send a txt, my friends actually laugh at me: I don´t even look at my phone when I´m texting, I´m so used to it that I can txt blind folded if I have to lol I guess the most txt I´ve sent in a day is close to a hundred, more or less anyway.

Certainly people nowadays have great talents when it comes to texting. I am nothing compared to you guys. My job requires me to send text messages almost every 10 minutes. But I think I still am a turtley comparing myself to most of you here. hehehe. it's great to hear your story pumpuli. Have a nice day. God bless you!

I am very slow at texting, so I try to avoid it at all when possible. If someone texts me I will call them instead because to me it is so much easier and faster! The only people I will text instead of talk to are people I don't really like all that much enough to talk to, lol. Or if I think they will be busy or doing something where a phone call would be disruptive...I guess I am just old fashioned? :)

I thought I text fast, but apparently with all those other members responses, I found out that I was a turtley compared to them. I don't think you are old fashion but it'll cost you a lot if you will always call them. I hope you could avail of the call unlimited so you won't spend too much on your phone bills. Have a great day vera5d. God bless you!

i can't hardly tell how fast i can compose and send a message back to the other person. but i think, with a blink of an eye i can do that haha...
i would like to say Arigato Gozaimasu to my phone provider for coming up with an UNLIMITED TEXT messaging service. that really help us to cut our text messaging expenses by almost 100 times compared when the charge per text is Php 1.00....
i think my texting ability compensate together with my typing speed which is 35 to 40 words per minute haha, though compared to text messages..proper and correct spelling is not necessary.

That was fast! Whew! With a blink of an eye? Oh Boy! You are fast. What is your service provider? Is it globe and sun? or smart and sun? hehehe. I asked this because most Filipinos avail of the unlimited texting by both smart and globe as well as the unlimited text and call by suncel. So which are your service providers?

I prefer general texting than just forwarding.. I love to send in a lot of messages to my pals and family members sometimes.. I used to send more than 150 messages per day when it was unlimited.. But now it is just 100 messages per day! So i need to stick to it! If not a booster pack with 22000 messages per month is fine! :) It takes me very less time to respond to messages.. we use a lot of short forms and so it reduces my time!

Oh gosh! More than 150 messages per day? You mean you always have to delete messages almost everyday to give room for incoming messages? I'm guessing your inbox is always full, isn't it? I bet your thumb is overused. you should massage it sometimes. hehehe. kidding.. Thanks for dropping by JayjashG. God bless you!

SMS is a major part of my life :P, helping to keep my mobile balance in tact, without having to make calls to convey something. Initially i used to message a lot but that has gradually decreased now. The speed depends on the size and an average SMS reply of a few lines will take just a few seconds(say 10-15s).
Forward jokes are ok to read but i hate senti and emotional forwards.
