I often wowed..simply wowed by music I listen to..particularly music from movie soundtracks..sometimes the most sleeper kind of movie will win me over just due to the music in a movie. Well one of my favorite movies, not by any means a sleeper is Last Of The Mohicans starring Daniel Day Lewis...I LOVE THIS MOVIE and I LOVE the music from it. I have the original VHS version of the movie, the DVD and the original tape soundtrack (don't have the CD version yet). Then perchance I was doing a YoutTube search for the movie in general..and came up with this indescribable delightful version of the main theme that runs throughout the movie. What made this version unique is that it is performed for the most part by Native American musicians....I'm part Native American myself and this struck a real cord with me.....so I just had to share it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3G6UHQJx3Us&feature=related {Warning : This is NOT a referral link but a link to the Youtube video I'm talking about} Okay to make this a discussion...have you ever LOVED a piece of music and discovered a new rendition of it that wowed you speechless...like discovering it all over again?

This doesn't actually address the discussion topic, it's just something I have been wondering since I first saw your handle, and it does have to do with favourite music and reworking of old material. Did it come from the English folk group of the same name? I'm sure Ian B would be proud if it was lol. Lash

Yes, I guess it could be considered a "revision" of sorts of music that is "old"....LOL. Mmmm...no idea what you mean about the English folk group...who??

theres a few tracks from that movie that are amazing.. and i simply adore E.S. Posthumus. if you havent been exposed to them.. expose yerself. you wont be disapointed. one of the best remakes of an older song by a newer band is below.. enjoy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Pp38SR1lMU

Thanks ever for the link..will give a listen. I was kind of disappointed in the difference between the VHS version of Last of the Mohicans with the DVD...in the DVD they omitted that beautiful song "I Will Find You' that was played during Hawkeye, Chingachook and Uncas tracking to find Cora, Alice and Duncan when the Huron indians captured them

hi pyewacket oh my thanks for the beauty of that music, it'was really so wonderful I can understand why it wowed you.I liked' the fact that it was played by native americans too, and their enchanting instruments. I never got to see the movie, and I'feel I have really missed something. It reminds me of some of my' favorite pieces by Mozart, and one of his violin concertos that slows really way down and the piano and the violin seem to be echoing each other in the most beautiful music I have ever heard, and I never did really know the name of the band that played this piece . But I just knew it was the most beautiful rendition of this piece I had ever heard. It was a soft slow totally gorgeous piece of music.I know a lot of modern people never listen to classical music but I am a Mozart buff for sure.

I love classical music also..in fact, I'm into a bit of everything. I just bet they have Youtube videos of concerts of Mozart music...I know they have a lot of taped classical concerts...was listening to Rhapsody of themes of Paganini not too long ago there

OH {{PYE}}, That is a wonderfully beautiful piece!! I am listening to it for the second time as I sit here; So beautiful! I had never even thought to look this up to see what other versions there might on the movie; But this piece ( this group) of Native Americans are AWESOME!! My Family too has Native American blood on My Father's side; I think I am however the only family member that truly loves it.. I used to have a lot of this type of music I'd listen to of a night when going to bed it totally relaxed me. The instruments they are using here are so unique too! LOVE THEM! will have to see if I can find some downloads on them; Lord Knows I need all the music I can to quiet my soul (G)! TYTYTYTYTYTYTYTTY!! For sharing this with us here;

I have a lot of Native American music...both traditional type and newer kinds from contemporary Native American artists. Do a search on YouTube...type in Native American and you'll find quite a lot. If you know the name of contemporary Native American artists like Robert Maribel...here's one for you to listen... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_kKpu1wn8-8 {Warning This is NOT a referral link but a link to a music video}
