Hi all, i must sleep at least 4 hours per day.
I have experience working for around 20 hours continuously and feel dizzy and cant concentrate on work. Thus i have to sleep and rest for at least 4 hours, else the dizziness will continue for the whole day.
You? Do you have minimum hours for sleep per day? Or how you can sustain energetic even working for long hours?
Thanks in advance for your sharing.

Hi there adriantys78
I would very much like to have 8 hours of undisturbed sleep every night but it just ain't happening. My youngest son has been coming into my room around 2am every morning for the last year or so. I end up sleeping on the end of my double bed whilst he has the rest of the bed to himself but snuggles up to me and then I can't sleep well! I am taking action now to sort the situation out as I too am experiencing dizzy spells!

At the age of 2 I stopped my kids from having naps in the daytime to help them sleep through the night. As this is my youngest that wakes me in the middle of the night and climbs into my bed I haven't minded but as I have been getting these dizzy spells I think that it can only be the lack of sleep causing the problem as the doctors have no idea what else it could be.

Ya, me too, when consult doctor, they just give me some medicine to cure dizzy and told me that's normal. I also feel that's due to not enough sleep.

Hi Humbug25, you must really sort out the situation quick as it really may cause you get into the dizziness if the situation still continue like that. Previously i do have same situation, my little princess will wake up around 2 am and then sit on bed and play for around 30 to 45 mins then only sleep again. I get into that for around 3 days and i have to surrender as i got sick. . But luckily after educate and arrange her afternoon sleeping time, the situation improve.

Hmm... It really depends on how strenuous the work is the day before.
If it is very physical, then I probably need about 6 hours or more.
Otherwise, usually 4-5 hours is enough. But That is only good for the weekdays. I need to catch up on the weekends sometimes.

Most of the time, I let my body tell me whether I need to sleep or not.
Don't like to lie on the bed and then cannot sleep. So once I feel sleepy, I will go to bed. Thanks for the advise on getting enough rest. I do know that it is important. And that trying to catch up on the weekend is not gonna be helpful.
A sleep debt is a debt that can never be repaid no matter how much you sleep.
But life is short. Don't want to waste too much of it sleeping.
As long as the body is not tired, I will just go about my activity.

Hi AhGong, thanks for comment. the total sleep hours are very little if it continuously for a weeks just with 4-5 hours. Do better rest more, health is important too. According to some article, catch up on the sleep hours on weekend does not help, just personally feel that already fulfill the needs of sleep. . So better have good rest from time to time.

Well.. for me 5-6 hours minimum would be like it if I don't want to feel dizzy. Less than that definitely makes my head reel, and I'm shaking all over. I wouldn't have any patience and I'm all gross. You wouldn't want to see me in that stage. My husband gets 3 to 4 hours sleep in an average working day and he would catch up on his sleep in the weekend. I really don't know how he's able to do that. . But I know he gets really cranky these days. Poor guy.

Hi Vijigopi, oh no, according to some research, the catch up sleep in the weekend does not really help and 3-4 hours sleeps in average working days is really tired. Pity on the situation and i would said if that related to work or project, no choice and have to complete that. So you must take good care for him then.

I usually sleep about six hours, for me it is enough. Some scientists said that human should keep sleeping at least seven hours,i think it is common situation, maybe some peoples who are vigorous just get 4-5 hours and the next day they are still energetic. When i was a college student, i was night person, i was very late to sleep everyday, playing until next day 3:00 - 4:00,and next day i was dizzy all day whatever how may hours i slept,so i must sleep six hours in night and we can be energetic next day.

I feel great and energetic whenever I have 8 hours sleep and thats only happen in the weekend. Most of the time I only have 6-7 hours sleep which is not bad, and if have have less than that I get headache. I think the minimum is 8 hours sleep.

according to me 8 hours of sleep is enough for everyone. if due to some reason you are unable to sleep for complete 8 hours it doesn't matter. tea & coffee will definitely keep you charge if you are working for long hours. tea is one of the widely consume beverages in the world as it keeps you active.
Anit is not good for your health if you keep awake for continuous 20 hrs. take a little nap in between...may be that could help.

Hi Appchem, you are right, 8 hours should enough for everyone. I tried before drink tea and coffee, but not sure i am immune to that because i still feel very sleepy. I cant take nap in between as i will get into sleep mode and become dizzy if less then 4 hours. So i must not nap in between. Somehow, that's me. Thanks for sharing and comment.

I need ten to fifteen hours of sleep a day. My medications tend to put me in the ozone layer. I then consume a pot of coffee just to shake off the dozies. It's no fun.

I think that you can condition your body to need only as much sleep as you can normally get. I only sleep about 4-6 hours per day and so I am used to that. I would like to sleep more but it is not possible with the schedule that I work and with the other things that I have to do in a day.

Hi Carolscash, you are right, most important is our body condition can accept and adopt to that. But if situation allow, is really better to have more rest, because we might not know when our organ can last, so prevention is better than cure.

Eight hours seems to be the norm. But it really depends on the person. I know some people who sleep more than eight hours a day, and I know people who can get by with less, and they all seem pretty healthy to me. I, for one, get 3-4 hours of sleep but I'm okay. I take vitamins and ginseng and royal jelly, that's why I don't get tired easily. I take a nap (15-20 minutes) in the afternoon. And oh, I work 10-12 hours a day.

Hi Blindmoongoddess, you great. you know that how to get the supplement to help to boost the energy. Also, nap is always a good choice too. Again, if sometimes can reduce on work hour and get a quality rest. Hope you can do so, cause health really can't replace with money.

Hi,
At least 6 hrs of sleep is necessary on average. Otherwise will feel dizzy, as you have told. I try my best to get 6 - 8 hrs of sleep. It is necessary for healthy being. Another thing is the sleep lost at night can't be fully compensated by sleeping in the morning.

I sleep at least 8 hours a day (even though tonight I only got about 4 :P ). If I dn't get 8 I feel tired and sluggish for the rest of the day. I suffer from insomnia so I usually can't fall asleep and then have trouble staying asleep.
Like I saw others say doctors recommend that we get 7-8 hours of sleep for the results. Our body's need sleep to recover from the day before. Sleep also aids in wieght loss and gain

For a 24-hour per day, 6 to 8 hours is the minimum requirement of our body to rest. Sixteen hours are for work, leisure and family, so I think the body needs rest at least for 8 hours.

In my opion,if you sleep only 4 hours per day, maybe you are in subhealthy condition.I think mankind have minimum hours for sleep, and it's more than 4 hours.a child need sleep more than 10 hours per day, youth and adult is 7~8 h,elder is 6 h.So I think you should make an examination of your body! You have nothing if you are unhealthy.
