Ever joined a safelist to promote sites?

Hey guys, how are you doing.
Right now I'm cleaning my safelist email address, because it got flooded with about 5000 emails already. Yes that's how you deal with safelists, and the bad thing is I'm only a member of 6 sites and they are able to generate that much emails. Anyways I'm off collecting some points, enough to email a thousand people. I'll try to advertise mylot with it. So far I've got about 3 signups with all of those advertising I did. Aw. Poor conversion rate, really, compared with myLot where you can talk to people and really convince them that the site is good.
How are you doing your advertisements? Are you also using safelists? Are you using manual surf exchanges? forums? blogs? Please share them here, as well as the conversion rate you get.

You know all those e mails you get that you delete without reading? That's what happens to the e mails you send out to safelists. They get deleted without reading!
I've never had any luck with traffic exchanges either. My best results come from forums.

It sounds very good. But i have to be on duty everyday except sunday.I have little time to use blogs.
