well i have seen a white carabao, tarsier, and very rare species of birds (it makes a very cool sound).
if you have seen something that can only be found in the philippines pls share it to us... tell me where did you found it? you might be featured on the National Geographic for it...

i dont think it would be considered in the national geographic, but what i missed most in the philippines and what i think can only be found there our version of street food such as fishballs, squidballs, kikiam, kwek-kwek, dugo, isaw, balot, tukneneng, etc... i have to admit that i am trying to look for it. i sure do miss the philippines! :)

I saw a chinese tv program about foods which showcases fish balls and I think that our fish balls originated from our chinese couterpart. I suspect kikiam for the name itself might be of chinese origin too but Im not sure though. Yes I guess that you are right that kwek-kwek(quails' eggs coated with flour and deepfyied), betamax(slang for dugo or solid animal blood on the skewer), isaw(chicken small intestine in skewer) and balot(domesticated duck eggs with a chick inside boiled in water and eaten with rock salt) is proudly filipino street foods. As for the tukneneng, I believe that its a variation of kwek-kwek.

Rafflesia flower found in the forest of Barangay Mapawa, Maragusan, Compostela Valley.
Rafflesia is an endangered flower specie that grows in the jungles of Southeast Asia including the Philippines. It is known to produce the largest individual flower on earth with a diameter of nearly a meter and can weigh up to 11 kilograms. i saw this flower during our Octotrek held in maragusan, they are very proud of this flower.

I watched a new before that says infomers saw several of it in luzon but when the news team arrived they found all of it burned. Its a sad thing knowing that they are endangered.

Aside from our animals, such as tarsier and the things that you've said. I can add our wonderful places such as Mount Mayon once said to be as perfect as a cone, the Chocolate hills of Bohol, Rice Terraces and Boracay's white sand. We also have the world's biggest shoe, but I think some other country beated it's world record, and Imelda's collection of shoes as well. There are lots more, you just have to explore Philippines to find and see its beauty.

Mt Mayon have a japanese counterpart which is Mt Fuji and the only difference it that the later have an ice cap. White sandy beaches are common(the white sand is actually the shells of millions of years old decayed on the shores). However, there is a white beach in ilocos which is a bit pinkish in shades and I guess that is kinda unique. As for the Chocolate Hills, I never hear of anything that looks like that elsewhere around the globe. Imelda's large collection of shoe is not a big deal as surely, the richs people round the world have the same amout or even exceed that. Take for example the noblewomen around the world(woman loves shoes).

Hey do you work for National Geographic? That's really cool! I hate to be negative, but "fake" blind people begging for alms and kids selling sampaguita are what I can think of as "uniquely Filipino." I know it's a really bad thought but it's the first that came to mind hehe. Also, I've never seen these kinds of beggars in other countries.

If you are refering to Raflesia Arnoldi, I guess you haven't heard that even in the forest of other southeastern asia have them. As for the world book of guiness record, I have heard many filipino unique records from it and as I watch the daily new, sometimes they feature some towns or groups wanting to get a guiness title prepares for the occasion.

There is a lot of rare species that can only be found in the Phils. I dont need to be specific about it since most filipinos knows already. The monkey eating eagle alone is one of the rare species and the kalaw. Our country is rich in natural resources so having this kinds of animals is something we can be proud of.About being featured in the national geographic channel. I have seen some documentary about crocodiles and philippines was featured on that episode.

Well there is only one fruit which i know is only here in the Philippines particularly in Davao. Durian is one of the fruits that can only be seen here in the Philippines. Foreigners who came here never thought that that ugly looking fruit tastes yummy. They didn't think it's a fruit either because it looks strange and it's their first time to see a fruit like that.

we filipinos already know where to find great places to stay, historical events, rare animals and flowers and exotic food here in the philippines. too much good stuff to share coz we filipinos are creative and resourceful. a little push and we will get it all on top. our country has problems too bec of the people who just want power over all of us...that's sad. but the good thing is, of all the problems we have in our country now, we keep on livin' and still have those "beautiful smile" on our faces. only in the philippines - beautiful people, beautiful smiles! =)
