It's one of those chores that I really hate doing. I try to procrastinate as much as possible in the hope that my better half do them for me.

I don't polish my shoes. Most of my shoes just need a rub with some shoe cream and I do this myself. However, as I suffer from a chronic lung desease, my husband has to polish my winter shoes as the smell from the polish effects my breathing. And he also has to polish them outdoors. I insist that he cleans his own shoes every day as I cannot bear to look at shoes that aren't shiny.

I don't really polish them as often as I should and most of the time, except when I am going somewhere special (social or work), I wear trainers.

I think that it may be a lost art. It is something I have seen my grandfather do. But he would be the only one. And that was YEARS ago. I don't polish shoes. Or do windows!

I polish my shoes when I have a very important ob to do. Like present a seminar or be with some very important people coming to college. I take care to make the finest impression because the HOD and the other heads of the college expect only some people to make sure that the people coming to college have a positive impression. I like it because if you are having some dirt in your shoes, then the whole glamour of the ironed and good clothing is lost. bourne

Hi ronaldinu, Why do men always wait for their othe halfs to clean their shoes/ I never do, if he ask me I will tell him waht he do with his shoes, I clean my own trainers because I live in them, and I would not expect my othet hald to clean them so why should he expect me to clean it for him, so clean your shoes sir, hehe, only kidding, I know you are not like that. Never! The reason for this is, I don't wear shoes now. I wear trainers instead, a nice pair of Nikes to be exact! I remember the time when I had to wear shoes though, when I was travelling to work in the city. I was so strict back then with polishing my shoes. I'm sure that the saying is true that, when you walk down the street, your shoes are noticed first! So, I guess it pays to give them a good polish up from time to time. I'm glad that I don't have to do that task anymore. I think that I will stick with my pair of Nikes! Andrew

Hardly ever if I am truthfully honest! I usually use a bit of water and an old tshirt to go over them and that's it, I have a habit of getting more polish on my hands than I do on the shoes. I think the only time I actually make an effort is when I have to attend interviews for jobs or meetings etc then I will take time out to do it, otherwise I just don't bother.
