I am just curious because I know in my previous thread that many are done with their Christmas shopping in the month of September. what about the Christmas decorations? when do most of you decorate? what about the Christmas tree? some of my friends they started to put up their Christmas decor by the first week of December. In out neighborhood, I saw Belen and Christmas lights as early as November after Thanks giving. Well, I am thrilled to see those colorful lights anyway, specially at night, Well, in our house I never start to decorate yet... hahaha maybe middle of December i will start.
What about you? I bet you are done with your shopping but decoration will be the last in your mind. when will that be? after thanks giving?

we usually put the xmas tree up the weekend after Thanksgiving. so by the time the 1st of December rolls thru, we are well and truly ready for the holiday..and all the little annoyances that come with such a happy event lol!
we take the decorations down (or rather I take them down) on New Years day..or the 2nd of January. all depends on how tired i am and how much help i get with the whole thing!

Hi,Bebs08! hmm, Here in our country, we celebrated Christmas a little earlier than usual, when Ber-months come, you can feel Christmas spirits from other houses, malls and parks. Many vendors started to sell Christmas decorations as early as first week of September, around October, you'll hear Christmas songs and you'll already see colorful Christmas lights on parks and houses and even in the news they'll update you on how many days to come before Christmas. You'll truly see in everyone's faces the anticipation for Christmas. Anyway, as for us, usually, we put our Christmas decorations around late November. For me, it's kinda too early to set it up right now.

My husband has a strict rule that the Christmas tree cannot be put up until after Thanksgiving, which is fine by me. One holiday at a time as far as I am concerned. I like to have it up for at least that long because it is a lot of work to get everything out of storage and get it set up. I usually don't take my tree down until after New Year's Day.

Oh really? I agree with that idea too, one holiday at a time.. haahha... yes, getting things in the storage is hard.. good for me, the Christmas tree that I found in the attic is just enough.. not big.. I never put up Christmas for about 2 Christmas now since I am here but this Christmas i will try to put up a tree. Our neighbor used the pine tree. The live tree and they do that every year. Wow what big Christmas tree.. something like 10 ft tall? it almost reach to their ceiling? and they have a high ceiling.. LOL..

Hi Bebs,
I guess we will start to put it up after thanksgiving, it will not be a lot of decor for us, nothing outside the house, only our Christmas tree, lights and other decor inside!
Back home, we always do it mid week of November also and I guess they are now ready this time and Mom started to clean and dig them up! LOL!

oh really? so, you are not an early shopper. Many people I know here, had said they are done with their Christmas shopping since September.. hahahaha... so, you and I are the same when it comes to Christmas shopping. With the Christmas tree, I will put it up on the mid of December.

I put mine up right after Thanksgiving. I like to have my tree up because it is so pretty. I also like to leave it up until after new years. I dont like it when people put there trees up like mid novemeber though. That to me is to early. I think waiting until at least after Thanksgiving is more appropriate.

I haven't started to really shop for presents yet, but last week I already started shopping for baking supplies (some dried fruits which I don't usually have and a bottle of cherry brandy) to make a special cake named Black Cake.
On the actual shopping for presents, I am still figuring out what to buy for who!
As for the Christmas tree. I put that up anywhere in the first or second week of December. It all depends on my mood. I love to shop for Christmas decorations! So many new things every year and so pretty!
Right now I am in the Halloween mood (gonna bake some ghost shaped and if I feel creative, some spider shaped sugar cookies as well, today with frosting of course)
and if I am in the mood I'll do some caramel apples.

I know some people that start decorating the day after Thanksgiving, and I have a sister in law, that I bet right now, she's done with her Christmas shopping, I think she's a year ahead of herself, like the day after Christmas, she's already got her shopping done for the next year, I'm not kidding. I can't be that organized, I'm not finished with my shopping until the week of Christmas..lol. I don't start decorating or put my tree up till about the middle of December also, and I usually leave it up till after New Years. I do my decorating before my shopping, believe it or not, I don't like Christmas shopping, it can get too hectic, trying to find the right gift for someone. I myself would just like to give Gift cards, but my sisters always say thats so impersonal, but hey this way they can pick out their own gift, and don't have to return things they don't want or need. I'm just trying to make it easier on everybody...lol. Have a good day

well, I agree with that idea of giving gift cards instead of buying stuff that they don't like or need. At least with the gift card, they can choose what item they want to buy. Well, when it comes to Christmas tree, We have the same plan. To put it up in mid December.

That's right!! one holiday at a time. But for me, i will do it on the middle of December. At least Christmas is still very fresh at that time. I don't like to feel the Christmas spirit too early and on Christmas day, I am not excited anymore.

I usually put up the Christmas tree by middle of November also the Belen and all the other Christmas decors in the house. My hubby and son is in charge of the installation of the Christmas lights outdoor. Of course while decorating, we would be playing Christmas songs aloud to boost our spirits. (Ha!ha!ha!) It is a big delight to feel the Christmas spirit filling our home after seeing the transformation of the whole house and surroundings. I love it when night comes and then we will turn on all the Christmas lights in the garden. Oh the glittering brights lights are lovely. Then we will eat our dinner in the garden set. It's a wonderful feeling... I really can't explain!

Oh yes my friend, I really love to see the Christmas lights at night in the neighboring houses here. I can picture your house with a garden? wow!! and lights all over and eat dinner right in the garden? I like that. There's no like that here. I still love the Philippine style.. You can not just stay outside at night here during December or even this time because it is very cold. No wonder why I can't see people
sitting outside their house at day time or even at eve. You can not stand the cold.. hahaha unlike in the Philippines, everybody wants to stay outside the house because it is hot inside... here, is the reverse.
