Are you afraid of being alone in the dark? I used to be afraid being alone in the dark, when that time happen, I felt so nervous and I begin to chill, my eyes are open wide and every sudden movements in the dark makes my heart pounding hard. That fear embraced me for over twelve years, till I found out a cure. It was friend who introduced me to a therapist specializing on fears. If its not for free I would'nt dare to be treated, to get to the point, I was used for study purposes. the therapist succeded in curing me by some hypnotism sessions alone. I remember a phrase he used to told me to repeat after him, "the night is wonderful, it makes me fell great". Do you experienced thesame fear of being alone? or what fears holds you for so many years?

Wow that is something new to me hypnotism. Although I have heard about it but this is the first time I heard that hypnotism has cured the fear out of a person. If it did for you then good for you. I also had that kind of fear but I managed to outgrow it in time and that fear is not a problem with me now. I wish I could consult you friend as well if he's good at it.

That is good... what is his profession by the way is he a clinical psychologist? When I was young I used to love the subject back then but that was not the course I pursued in college back then.

Yeah He's really good at it! infact I have heared from my friend that he's in europe now I think he's on an ongoing training to broaden up his knowledge about hypnotism. They are trying to prove that hypnotism can cure skin disorders.

Wherever you may go and whatever you do always take care, and praying to God for safety is the best thing a person can do, specialy when you are dealing with your fears. Just always lock all your doors if ever you left alone in your house and stay alert. It is better also to have a dog outside and inside of your households, to keep those bad elements away from your place. Have a nice day As well.

I'm not afraid of being alone in the dark. If it's too dark to see and something happens, I'd rather be alone so I don't have to worry about someone else getting hurt and can concentrate on taking proper care of myself. I'm not really afraid of much, except my wife. She scares the hair right off my back.:)

Good for you of not fearing being alone in the dark, if you fear of sickness and or lossing loveones just believe in your self that it will not affect your life totaly. Lossing love ones always comes to us, and its okey to grieve for that emotions can never be wipe away in just a day, it takes time to heal. By learning to accept things that comes out to you and for your family, it helps lessen the process of healing. Take Care always....

When i was a little girl i used to be petrified to be alone in the dark. I'm 23 now and it doesn't bother me at all anymore. I think i stopped being afraid of it when i realized that nothing bad ever happened in the dark to me, so why be afraid of it.

totally same as you!!! i used to be afraid being alone in the dark when i was young, i can't be alone in the dark. i remember i would turn on all the night in the room, and then hide in a corner, i think that's the safest, haha, how stupid i was, but after years and years, i don't be afraid being alone in the dark as young, and i feel i like to be alone in the dark, i can take a good rest in the dark, and free my mind. everyone will face that situation and i think you must be stand in by your own. but sometimes i think there is someone beside you in my mind when i am alone in the dark, then i feel more confidence to carry on.

Our belief that theres nothing creepy nor any bad things that will happen to us while we are in the dark, is one kind of courage. when you see something in the dark which realy does'nt exist, that goes to show that your imaginations are working and that was normal, to overcome those fears, one must work in boosting his or her confidence. Nice Response Thanks!

I am not totally afraid of being alone in the dark, but it makes me really uncomfortable. When my husband is working out of town, I tend to fall asleep while reading a book or watching television. Even when I know I am close to falling asleep, I refrain from turning the lights out just so it isn't dark. There is something about being alone in the quiet darkness that hinders my ability to fall asleep.

being alone in the dark??? that's happen to me almost every night... hehe just kidding yeah, when I was a child, I scared to sleep alone because of the darkness. Its said that in the darkness you will see a ghost...so, I always sleep with my father. But my father told me that if you sacred in the dark, pray to the God and you will be fine. I do that and nothing happens.

I've always loved being in the dark. It's a time to let the imagination play with all kinds of thoughts and ideas. These can be the result of a movie you've seen, a book you've read, or even a song. The trick is to channel your mind travel on happy pathways. Of course, this time of year when we celebrate Halloween, it's fun to get a little scared too.

Hahaha! Yes this halloween is the time for us to be scared or to scare somebody. Realy some scary imaginations came from what we saw on TV's or movies, some are stories specialy from our granny's or some books and gossips that was filtered to our brains that develops our fear.

Yes I am also afraid of the dark. But that was when I am still a child when my mind is a fertile ground for imaginations. But not anymore. Not because I am a grown up now. Not also because I engaged the services of therapist. For sure I cannot afford that. I don't know how but in me I have the motto "Face your fear." Its not that I am a superhuman or something but I have tried to do it most of the time I feel fear and the end result is great. One of which is that of my fear in the dark. My antidote is to go outside the house late in the night about 11 pm and stay there till 2 am. Of course i am alone. When I stare at my surroundings I feel so much afraid there being no lights at all as we live in a rural area. But as I look up the sky and stare at the beauty of the moon and stars, I enjoy it so much and makes me forget all of my fears of the dark. I did this many times till my fear is gone. Actually, stargazing even made me closer to God because when I am out there alone, I would speak with Him as if there were only two of us in the world. I am glad you overcame it already.

Wow! As I have said if you believe that what you are doing could brings good to you and you stand to that belief you will for sure succed. Your right about talking with God when you feel fear in life and even in down times or in good times praise the Lord and thank Him for the every blessings you recieved and or about to recieve, such as waking up in the morning and the air you breath.

Hallucinations were all products of our sub-conscious mind and it only receive emotions such as our fear. Our brain was divided in two types the sub-conscious and the conscious mind. Our conscious mind knows that we fear of something and our subconscious will make it more realistic by creating images that we believe we might see in the dark.

Hello! What particular things do you saw in the dark? Before I saw creepy creatures with long pointed nails and very hairy body. Sometimes I saw elves with ugly faces, dirty teeth and green saliva running down his tounge, trying to lick my face.

You know my therapist told me that in order to overcome your fears, one must believe that his or her method of curing will difinitely cure her or him. That's why when your friend told you to count certain numbers and you do it and you believe in it, then it will certainly be of good help in curing your fear.
