That usually happens to me... i also have long hair... and i don't really have any time to dry it in the morning after taking a bath... so i end up having a slight backache... but it doesn't hurt as much anymore... i think my back got used to it already...
I guess it is the result of the cold hair touching your back... since that can certainly cause the muscle to ache...

Now im trying to use a blazer to protect my back from the wet hair. When I have enough time at home i still try to make it dry but when theres no time I always end up going to work with a wet hair.

Hi Zelmarq, I do keep longhair and now it’s longer than that what you can see from the pictures I had taken end of last year in my profile. Anyway it’s still shorter than yours I believe
I seldom dry my hair with dryer after shampooing unless during cold rainy days or before going to bed late in the night. I dislike the hot blowing wind from the dryer. I prefer to let my longhair air-dry under the ceiling fan. What’s more I still could enjoy doing mylot posting or watching tv in the meantime.
I’m older than you and surely I have more wet hair experience. Anyway I don’t suffer from any back ache yet, so I believe deeply the pain is not because of the wet long hair. It might cause by the pillow, the mattress or the way you sleep.
posting and take care.

hmmm, maybe there are many reasons for this back ache, but the wet hair with the air con could be the culprit of the pain.
Have a nice day and take care and thank you fro sharing.

Hi Zel,
I have a long hair also but I don't know if it has some connection! But, I have tried to have some back pain too when my hair is wet but I believed it is because of too much sitting down! Try to stretch your body! And hopefully, we will hear from our medical friends here! LOL!

Yes there is a connection. Especially if you're not used to it. You will notice that chain smokers also experience back pain. It's the lungs. Your wet hair makes your lungs feel cold causing the back pain. It's also possible for it to cause common colds. Try sitting directly next to an AC with your back facing it or to just an electric fan you will feel the same effects.
Since other people doesn't experience this, that is probably because their used to having their long hair wet or they might have stronger lungs

No, I don't think so, I have hair all the way down my spine to my pants, though I have never had any problems with my back. Your back holds your head, which is already pretty heavy, so hair would not make much of an impact, hair is very light anyway... even when it is wet. You probably just strained it when you picked something up or perhaps in your sleep you were in the wrong position, it could be anything like that. Your hair should be the last thing you should expect hehe. Happy mylotting and have a great day or night, I hope your back feels better at once, and also don't go shaving your head or anything .

i don't know... i guess it could have something to do with it. i kindof doubt it, though. my hair is long and very thick, and i never get a chance to dry it. i usually put some scrunching mousse in it and let it dry wavy. but i never have a problem with my back bothering me. i guess maybe if you did it all the time, but i don't think so.

Zelmarq I think it could be contributing to the pain, not from the weight, but if you are under a cooling vent, it could be making your muscles ache in your neck and back. It could be from the chill.

I don't think so. although it depends on how you wet and dry your hair. basically if you are not doing any activity properly or carefully, you will end up with pain at the end of the day whichever body part it is
I have long hair myself but I always tie it all up at work because it's more convenient I rarely let my hair down unless I am going out or going to sleep or just have a bath

I've never had really long hair but two of my daughters had long hair when they were in school. They eventually ended up cutting their hair shorter because they got headaches because of the weight of the hair not so much because of the wet hair.

Man, I had the same problem. I had long hair. I finally had to cut it to neck length. I have a lot of hair and it is thick, so when my hair got wet, and it was against my back, I too would get back pain. I even would get neck pain. I loved having long hair, but it wasn't worth the agony. Needless to say, I no longer have that issue.

I think there is no chance of back pain because of long hair.Prolong use of computer may cause back pain or your seating position while work can also cause back pain. You have to find the real reason for it.

My aunt would get horrible headaches if she wore her hair long so after high school she cut it off very short and doesnt have that problem anymore. I have long hair probably to my belly button or so and I dont get headaches from it. My hair isnt very thick so it doesnt bother me to let it air dry. If your hair is very long and thick it might pull on your head and make your head and neck ache.

Hi. Zelmarq. I don't think that your long wet hair has anything to do with your back pain. You may have back pain from washing your hair, I would think. I hope that your back will stop hurting you. You may want to try washing your hair the day before you go into the office to work next time though.

Hi Zelmarq, I too had very long hair, (cut recently) right below my waistline, so I can assure that your back pain is not because of the wet hair. But yes, if its cold out there where you stay, then keeping your hair wet may make you cold and it may induce pain in the joints and in some people, in back. But otherwise, your hair is not the culprit!
Take care and stay warm!
