I am 36 weeks pregnant right now and in two weeks time, i can have my labor already. i am so happy and excited to see my firstborn. i have waited for so many weeks and i can't believe that i would finally see my baby. well, i'll be having a baby boy. during the first trimester of my pregnancy, alot of my relatives wanted us to have a baby girl. personally, i don't have any preference but my husband wants a boy. and when knew that our baby is a boy, he was glad so as I. :)

I would definitely want a girl as a first born. A girl has maternal instincts and can take care of the younger siblings. I am also the eldest in the family and I know a lot of big sisters who really do take care of their younger siblings. I also know of a lot of big brothers who tend to neglect their younger siblings. I would want my eldest to be someone who will be concerned about her siblings. Also, most of the time, girls are easier to discipline so they can set a good example to her siblings. I know I sound biased but in all cases that I know, the older sisters perform better than the older brothers. The older sister is like the glue that bonds all the siblings. If the older sister cannot do this, it will not be very good for the other siblings. Just my two cents worth.

I guess, somehow I have not met a big brother responsible enough for their younger siblings. It's just that guys tend to be more freespirited I guess to care about the whereabouts of their siblings. :)

maybe it is also depends on how you bring up your children. you can teach your firstborn to be a responsible person especially in taking care of the younger siblings.

With my first pregnancy I didn't have a preference. I just wanted was a healthy baby. I ended up having a boy. And when I was pregnant the second time I again had no preference...that is until a lot of family members were saying it was going to be a girl. They said it so much I got tired of hearing it. So I started saying it was a boy, just to spite them. And when they wouldn't let up I said it was twin boys! LOL Well, it wasn't twin boys, but it was a boy! If I become pregnant again I will be hoping for a girl as my husband wants us to have a daughter...

I only want a baby girl for my husband's sake. If it was just up to me I wouldn't have any more kids! LOL

Congratulations on the baby! you must be so excited!! I think if i had to or was able to choose i'd probably have a boy first, i have an older brother and i love that he has always been there to look after me, although having said all that i think that i would just be happy as long as my children were healthy! xx

I do really want to marry and have children and if i am going to decide I want it a girl so that i can fix her hair and dress up like a barbie doll haha..Well other reason is girl is more responsible than a boy..I know not all but most are really good daugthers so i prefer to have my first baby a girl..Just like me.Im the eldest of the family and besides im beautiful i am also so much responsible and loving daugther to my parents.

I agree. most people have the impression that a girl is better as a firstborn because girls are more responsible. but in fairness to the boys, there are also guys who are responsible and really protective of their younger siblings.

When i was expecting i always wore pink and hoped for a baby girl....but a bay boy was born to me. When i saw my child for the first time, i just forgot all about having a baby girl.it was that rush of feelings within me that i was seeing my child irrespective of a girl or a boy. although i would want to have a baby girl...but i know even if it is a boy just the joy of having a baby makes a person forget whether one wants a boy or a girl.

Yes, that's true. all of us have a certain preference but it does not matter anymore knowing that we will have a healthy boy.

I would prefer a boy as my eldest. Though I don't have kids yet at the moment. I just think that a guy can handle the pressures of being the eldest. I don't have anything against anyone on this. This is just very subjective. Peace!

well i dont have any preference, anyway at first we taught that will will having baby girl on my first child, but when i got an ultrasound report it is boy, and still we are happy, my husband is the eldest only boy to thier family, and his first child is also boy, now that i give birth to my second baby, it is girl, and now we are complete.

the girl is perfect for me .because i think if i would have two or more child ,the eldest child would help me take care of them .and if there is the motive to have another baby only if the eldest child is considerate,of course ,a girl maybe is a good choice.
