Would you select something you like when selecting a gift for a friend? Or would you take in consideration his or her tastes? © ronaldinu 2008

hi. I will take into consideration his or her taste. But I will make it sure that when he or she will receive it, she will feel that she is special to me and that I tried to choose the best for her. And practically, i will choose one that is in keeping with my finances. good day.

I always consider what the other person likes and would want. That's what I go with. Of course I get something nice. If I always went with what I like and would want, I'd go broke for sure. I love jewelry, although I purchase a lot of jewelry for my family and friends too.

Well, I wouldn't get something that I hated! I would take into consideration their interests and likes, but I think I normally pick something out that I really love. This way I think if I love it, they will too.

Of course I would take their likes and dislikes into consideration.there would be little point in buying any present for anyone if you didnt do that.Like many I try to match the gift to the person, but saying that I am not too good at it!and many times I feel as though I maybe have it wrong lol.If I am buying for Mum then its fairly simple,we have extremely similar tastes, but when it comes to buying for anyone else, very tricky. If its a male that needs a present then where do you begin??!!it is so difficult, toiletries are considered boring, clothes are too personal, jewellery is a very personal choice and men do not really do ornaments or suchlike. The choice is then usually a music cd or a DVD or a car accessory,if they drive !I always think that women are certainly easier to buy a present for.

Definitely would take the other persons likes in to consideration even if I didn't have the same taste. That is how it should be. I just wish that is how it was. I always end up with gifts that others love and like but I am stumped at trying to find something to like about them. But as they say..it is the thought that counts..but if they don't think of your likes when choosing it..how much thought do you feel is put into it then?

buying gifts for close friends are easier beacuse I know what they like. But when i buy a gift for a friend whom i don't know personally, usually, i buy something that i like or would like to have, lol weird huh?

I would take my friend's taste and requirement in consideration and then go for a gift item which I like too. It should be useful as well as presentable.

I will select a gift that I think my friends will like it. I think it is no point in buying gift if the person who is going to receive it don't like it. Before buying, I will usually survey first. I will pay attention to the things they like. If I am in their shoes, I think they will be happy if receive gift what they want and not what I want. If want that, I better have it for myself.

Hi there ronaldinu. This is a nice question and i think that i would first of all take into account their taste, but after that i would take my personal feelings in consideration as well as i wouldn't buy a present that i would hate to any of my friends.

What I usually did is I have to ask someone close to the person and learn what interest him or her. Selecting a gift that appeals to the person's choice I think would matter greatly, and when I shop for that gift I usually pick something that is best or unique from it.

I always think of what the person will like. I would never give something I really wanted too unless I bought two.

I don't buy for friends what I would like for me. I always consider what they would want in a gift. Now, that said, if there were two identical items, and I wasn't sure which one my friend would like best, I would choose the one I liked best of the lot for them. I wasn't always that way though. But over the years, I guess I've grown up or something. lol.

I always select a gift that someone would like, usually something they would not buy for themselves. I listen carefully and when gifting time comes I'll give them something they've mentioned over the past year or months, but have forgotten about. Or I'll make them something, more often. Last year I gave my two best friends (they married each other) a pretty tin that I got for $1. I filled it with 365 slips of paper, folded up, and they could open one each day and get a joke, a haiku, a piece of philosophy or a little prayer. They loved it! It cost me a few sheets of paper and the price of the tin for something they would enjoy for a whole year. They asked me to do the same this year.

hi ronal, i always select to my preference when i select for a friend because then only it keeps them to have a different taste rather than themselves as well, if for my close friend and willing to buy something but cant then i make the dream gift of them

Both, if I knew what their taste was I would go with that, if not then I would get them something that I would like and could use, I hate to buy gifts that a person can not use. I also hate to get gifts that I can not use.
