How much do you like the window seat in the train?

To gaze at the nearest passers by and vehicles of all sorts. Wondering what the birds perching and speaking beween themselves on the telegraph wires, An occasional dog chasing, trying to bite and eat the train, The distance mountains which can only be moved by the passing train and making you more powerful inside, the galloping trees, the running brooks and the splashing rivers under the bridge, The cascades on the face of the rocks, And the distant glow of fire as the day turns into dusk that kindles so many reasons in your mind about it being there dancing in the dark. You a silent spectator detached and strangely savoring the journey.

I just went on a train journey this week end ,Bala, and returned only last night. And guess what, when ever I book my train tickets I write (window seat) when specifying my preferences.
I feel one cannot savour the full joy of a train journey, unless one sit at the window and watch nature and the world at large ,which just flies past.Feeling the wind on the face, and the rain too at times, and watching the hustle bustle at the stations, with passengers alighting and entering, and others waiting patiently sitting on their luggage for the arrival of their trains, the sight of the coolie walking with so many suitcases balanced precariously on their head, never cease to fascinate me......
And I always carry a novel with me,to bury my nose in ,if at all I do not get my favourite window seat.....

And one more thing that fascinates and moves me always are the farewells. A child leaving for her hostel waving ta ta to her mom standing in the platform with tears welling in those angel eyes, a young wife running along the platform refusing let go of the sight of her Jawan husband from her eyes, a father weeping like a child unable to bear his just wed daughter leaving with her husband consoled by her wife and the most rugged looking man sitting in front of you silently trying to wipe out that one single drop of tear from his eyes leaving God knows what in the platform.
It is one place where the air is filled with the beautiful human emotions.

excuse me if I sound pessimistic,Bala..but your comments make me want to open up my true feelings when I travelled by train yesterday...the pollution the stink, the slums, the garbage piled up every where near railway tracks.the empty plastic bottles pileed up in railway yards.....In fact window seats are fast losing thie charms,to be honest......

hi Bala, what a beautiful explanation of nature. I did not know that you are also nature lover like me....do you write poems too.......lol
Yes I love to sit at window seat and enjoy all that you have written so passionately. I am crazy about nature and its beauty and I think God is a wonderful artist.......he has painted this earth so beautifully....now I don't want to go in details of this or else I will write a full book..... have a nice day.........

I wish I could write like this:
Gaadi Bulaa Rahi Hai, Seeti Bajaa Rahi Hai
Chalna Hi Zindagi Hai, Chalti Hi Ja Rahi Hai
Aate Hain Log, Jaate Hain Log, Paani Mein Jaise Rele
Jaane Ke Baad, Aate Hain Yaad, Guzre Hue Vo Mele
Yaadein Bana Rahi Hai, Yaaden Mita Rahi Hai
Gaadi Ko Dekh, Kaisi Hai Nek, Achchha Bura Na Dekhe
Sab Hain Savaar, Dushman Ke Yaar, Sabko Chali Ye Leke
Jeena Sikha Rahi Hai, Marna Sikha Rahi Hai
Gaadi Ka Naam, Na Kar Badnaam, Patari Pe Rakh Ke Sar Ko
Himmat Na Haar, Kar Intezaar, Aa Laut Jaaen Ghar Ko
Ye Raat Ja Rahi Hai, Vo Subah Aa Rahi Hai
Sun Ye Paigham, Ye Hai Sangraam, Jeevan Nahin Hai Sapna
Dariyaa Ko Faand, Parvat Ko Cheer, Kaam Hai Ye Uska Apna
Neenden Udaa Rahi Hai, Jaago Jagaa Rahi Hai

Whether I'm on a train, a bus, a plane, or riding in a car, I like to have a window seat, so I can see out, even if it's just looking into the clouds. I also like to take pictures out the windows on occasion, so having a window seat is important to me.

So poetic Bala!
I am sucker for window seat as well. I hardly travel these days, but when I used to, we sisters used to fight for the window seat. I am a gazer and love to watch the mysteries f the world. The nature is an unfathomable wonder with all its beauties. I am just in love with it.

I love to to sit by the window on whichever sort of transport that I go on. My favorite form of transportation is train. In the daytime I like to see the green fields, blue coastline, the gray towns and the yellow cities. In the night time it is wonderful to sleep in a comfortable compartment. I have traveled on trains in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, the USA and Kenya.

I'ma silent spectator all the way Bala. If the Window seat is not available, then i am at the door of the train getting the best of the view. It's not the view only but the thoughts and being lost in the countryside, imagining what it must be to be out there living in the wilderness.

You should never stand in front of the door in a moving train (even when its closed). Hope you know why..

Your description is beautiful and I can relate to it as these feelings do occur while travelling in a train and if you get a window seat. This is the reason I like the window seat very much. Sitting in between the longer seat is not much fun as you are left with just one choice and that is to interact with the passenger sitting opposite you. That is if your frequency matches.

Hello balasri. I love the window seat on the train very much for a few reasons as follows. Firstly, I can enjoy a good view of the outside. Secondly, I won't be bothered by those passengers who have no seat but have to stand all the way on the corridor. Thirdly, I can have the window pane as the support of my head when I feel sleep and very tired and I can feel more comfortable with it. Also I love the window seat on a plane as I can see the beautiful sky outside in the air...

Hello balasri. It is the best part of seats next to the window while on a train, a bus and a plane. I love the seats by the window and each time I buy a ticket, I will ask for one, especially when buying a train ticket...

When travelling I really like to be near the window not only in train but also in airplane and cars. It gives me more freedom to see the outside world and appreciate the things I see while I'm travelling it also help me not to be bored during travel...

i like window seat in a train or any other means too as it is really interesting to watch outside and it helps to spend time faster and reach our destination soon.
i feel very interesting in watching outside and feeling the environment and enjoying nature. i just go deep into it and i keep thinking some or the other related thing and i feel my time is gone faster and i have reached my destination faster.
i always want to opt the window seat and it is really a fun for me and if i dont have any music system or some thing like that which passes my time sooner i can manage peeping outside the window.

It seems nobody doesn't like the window seat, and I'm no exception. Once when I was taking the plane back home, I saw the highest mountain standing sparklingly through the clouds beneath the plane. How wounderful it was! Even though I could not even keep my eyes open (too sleepy), I could not fall asleep any more.
