Are Promises Meant to be Broken?

I don't make promises...well maybe in the past but not now because I have broken them all. Yes, I admit it. It is really hurting not only on the person to whom I made the promise but also to myself because once again I failed to keep it. Maybe for some, they make promises to prove to another that they are worthy to be trusted. To assure or convince another. For now, instead of making promises, I make sure that my yes is 'YES' and my no is 'NO.' How about you? Is this true to you too?

I usually try to speak the truth as much as possible. Atleast I try not to lie, I keep my mouth shut instead . But for me, a promise is something that I cannot break. I've not broken a promise so far as I can remember, but if I break one hence, I know I will never be able to forgive myself my whole life!! I rarely make a promise because I know what it means to me, and unless I am 200% sure that I can make up to it, I don't promise anyone anything. It is not because I want to show to others that I am trustworthy, but since I value promises a lot, I don't break them and will be furious if someone makes a valueless promise to me and don't care to keep it. I guess its just my nature to be like that!

Like you,i don't make promises that much because for a fact i know that it is very hard to keep them..I've gotten too many broken promises that i don't want any of it now..it's very hard for the person that u have given a promise when you cannot keep it..it would just be better to just say "maybe" or "I'm not sure" and "no" than saying "i promise"..Just don't give out any expectations/promises unless your sure that your going to do it..just be real!!

As much as possible I don't want to make promises especially if I know that I cant fulfill those promises. I would rather say that I will try my best than saying that I promised to do such a thing... So I don't believe that promises are meant to be broken. I also don't want to receive any promises that will not be fulfilled
