Mine was taking my brothers trick or treating and years later taking my Niece and Nephew out too. We did it for several years till they grew up and decided they were too old for it anymore and wanted to go with their friends. My favorite candy was Snickers bars and M&M's.

Back when I was a kid (you know, in the dinosaur days), the best treats were the ones our neighbors made. One neighbor made caramel apples. Another made candy apples. Still another made yummy popcorn balls. One neighbor made brownies that were out of this world.
Sadly, our children and grandchildren don't get those kinds of treats anymore.

I think I loved those candy necklaces and bracelets more than anything. Aside of that, maybe tootsie rolls. Wow, I haven't had one of those in a long time.
My favorite Halloween memory was when I took this lifesize man and laid him on the steps of my front porch and tied a string that led up to my room. Then when kids would start walking up the stairs I would pull the string and the dummy would raise up in the air.
I had gotten in trouble that year for corning cars so I didn't get to trick or treat. But I had just as much fun scaring little kids. LOL
Thanks for starting this discussion, it has brought back some good memories. Have a good evening!

That is the coolest idea. I should tell my grandkids about it. They would have fun pulling the string. Really great idea. That is a fun memory to have. Appreciate your response!

Mine was when I was little and we would get our paper bag and go around the neighborhood and get candy, homemade cookies, homemade popcorn balls and even candied apples. We were allowed to eat things before our parents checked them or took it all to the ER to have the thing x-rayed like they do nowdays. We did not buy costumes, my mother fixed my brother and I up with things we had around the house. I always did like getting chocolate candies and back then it was the regular sized candy bars and not the bite size.

I always disliked the "Candy Kisses" as they were called. Little nasty supposed to be chewy but always hard toffee wannabe stuff, wrapped in a black, white and orange wax paper. Nasty nasty nasty things! I'd always keep them around as toys for my cat. I'd also use them for my birthday party games.. tossing them into muffin pans (just as a bean bag toss would work).
I don't have any specific Hallowe'en memory that is a favourite. Each year is something great. I find it has been more fun for me having kids of my own, and watching their excitement each year about arranging their costumes and then actually going door to door. I love the fact that I can get dressed up in costume that night too. Such fun!!!

When I was a kid, I liked the candy corn. However, as I've gotten older, I no longer have a taste for it. As a child, I didn't like getting apples. Then when the big scare came about people putting razorblades and poison into the apples, my parents wouldn't let me accept them anymore.

Our parents would not let us have the apples after that either, even if they were carmel, we were not allowed to have them. Its a shame someone would ever do something to hurt someone and also to ruin Halloween.
