Do you play the lotto? How do you pick your numbers?

"You got to play if you want to win"That's what I tell myself every now and then when I pick up a ticket..
I know the odds of me getting struck by lighting are probably better than that of me winning a prize of millions but hey, it's worth a try.
I don't spend a lot of money on lotto tickets.
I buy just one every week for $1 (U.S)
Lots of times after buying a ticket I imagine what I would do if I actually won!
Mostly this includes helping family and friends and traveling the world.
I usually play birthdays or special dates..Sometimes I will play a number I have had show up in a dream and other times I leave it up to random chance and let the machine generate a "quick pick" of numbers for me...
I once got pretty close having 3 of the 6 numbers needed...
The prize was less than spectacular but it was still nice to win something and get so close...
What about you?
Do you play the lottery and how do you choose your numbers to play?

I play - when I remember to get the ticket. I'm a quick pick kind of person.

Really, I'm surprised. I would have thought it would be the other way around.

Yes I play the Lottery every week. I only spend $2. I pick my own numbers, and I also get a quick pick, though I have not won anything yet, I keep hoping I will someday.

Yes if 'your not in you cannot win'. I do it faithfully every week. I use my daughters times they where born and have done the same numbers for 7 years. I havnt won much, but If I pass down the numbers when I am gone, maybe someone of my ancesters will win big,

I have played the lotto but I don't play very often, just once in a while. I usually go lucky dip and let the machine pick for me. I never understand people who pick meaningful numbers in the lotto. For example, "I select 8 because thats the date my son was born...8th June". and "I will pick 33 because my house number is 33". The reasons get even more stupid like "I will choose 28 because my best friend just turned 28 yesterday..."
The lotto is random, why pick meaningful numbers? It makes no difference...
