cat for sure. They really are very intelligent. They figure things out pretty fast, and man either I'm completely frikin crazy, or they try to talk to. I've had conversations with my cat before. Not actual words, but you can say things, and if you listen to them, they try to mimic you. You say something, and they'll say something back. They don't always obey though. They're independent, and picky, but very intelligent.

yeah they are. cats are very sneaky. Don't ever leave them in a room with food. They will find a way to get to it. And they love shiny things like money. When I lived up north I had this kitten that use to collect pennies. One day I decided to clean out from under the bed, cause I was missing something, and wow. Lots of change.

I would have to say a cat, a rabbit, elephant and a dolphin are the smartest animals i know. Dogs well i own one and let me tell you it really depends upon the breed because there are only two breeds of dogs that i have found to be really intelligent and obediant they are the labrador and the sheltie all the others well thats very questionable and i have owned alot of different types of animals and breeds. matter of fact my puppy now is a pain in the butt with no joke, she is 4mths, half chihuahua however you spell it and half pomeranian and man let me tell you she doesnt listen worth a crap. she wont come when you call her name, she insists on using the restroom all around the house even if you leave her where she is suppose to go for hours i am telling you she is stubborn and very disobediant.

yeah your right, maybe it depends on the breed... cause i myself have a dog, its a shiatzu terrier, dutchan, and japaneses pitz... but they know know their names and they really obey me.. so maybe it also depends on the breed.. why do you say that cat, rabbit, and elephant are the smartest??

Mrcupid,
i say the cat because i had a female calico from 6wks to 14yrs who could lay on the kitchen table in front of a bowl of milk and not touch it no matter what i did even if i walked around the house etc unless i gave her permission; she would wake me up with in minutes or seconds before and earthquake and would meow and meow and whatever it took to get me up, make me either walk around the house until it was time or make me stand in the door way and if i didnt she would claw my foot that step out of the doorway; she knew her name; when i was pregnant i would tell her that the baby wasnt moving and she would lay on my tummy first purring and if that didnt work i would tell her patches that was her name the baby still isnt moving and she would like nead on my tummy like she was going to nurse until the baby moved which was my son who is now 11yrs; i say an elephant because of their memory which has been proven over and over how they have such an excellent memory and are easily trained; i say a rabbit because it would come when i called him; he could sit, stand on two feet; hope on only two feet; do tricks like a dog or cat; would get sad if you didnt give him attention just various things; a dolphin well it seems no matter their age they are intelligent from birth because they can always find their way to where the food is, they know how to avoid sharks etc.

im not here to dissapoint anyone
but
all you people thing intelligence is like something that immitates human behaviour or that can be tamed by humans
and that very fact makes us humans the worst thing on planet
hav eu seen the movie The Matrix -the agent would comment on humans as virus relating many factors indeed its true
any way thanks for the good topic

every creature in this worls except for humans are bright
they have unique sense of what is around them
no animal or any living thing for that matter destroy the ecosystem or the environment in which they live but for humans who keep on exploiting the resources and do nothing in return to fill it up

I just love my cats. They are lovable and soft to touch. They do understand me and help me to ease my hard days at work. I love to watch them sleep. It makes me feel comfortable and serene. But I admire sea creatures and snakes very much and I want to be like them. As graceful as the fish and could adept to any terrain like the snakes. I want myself to be able to adept to different environment and people without having to sacrifice my need and identity. Just like the snakes where you can find it in almost anywhere in the world. There are sea snakes, snakes on the desert, under the rocks. You just can't believe where you could find these amazing creature. But there is one thing that I have to overcome that is my fear to them. Such creatures should be protected not feared by us.

Gorillas and chimps are also very intelligent. There's Koko of the Gorilla Foundation to bear this out. I love visiting the website to check out what's new with her and her friends.
