How popular is Linux?

I currently have Ubuntu running on my laptop i enjoy it very much but i am wondering how many people are aware of linux and its abilities. I want to know if you are currently running linux or if you even know what linux is. Do you enjoy linux? What is missing from linux if you dislike it?

one thing i know about Linux is that it's far superior than windows, its more stable and securea and its free

yes i agree with decimus785 that linux is far superior than windows.
windows has lots of bugs, security problems and it crashes alot often .
linux is really secure and it is open source ,so you can try developing applications on your own. but linux is still not as popular as windows is. windows is used in most companies and at homes. majority of the people use windows .
windows is far more user friendly and is very easy to use as compared to linux hence more people go for windows.

I agree linux is way better and its great that people are able to get involved with it around the world which could lead to some amazing developments. I can't wait to see how far it goes.
